No.

"Thou shalt not kill," is a little misleading in the English translation. The word in the Hebrew original favors a translation of "murder."

Peter cut off the ear of the roman soldier

Jesus told him to put away your sword

If we were'nt to prtotect ourselves, the disciples would not have had swords

If you are protecting your life or the lives of other than to me no killing is not wrong. But killing with no remorse or for pleasure, then that to me is wrong.

In the Bible, Jesus actually told the disciples to buy a sword........He said that if they didn't have a sword, then they should sell things to get one............

To "murder" someone is the intent of ones heart.

To "kill" someone in self-defense is not the same as murder.

I think that God is very practical, and I think that He doesn't judge things in a cookie-cutter manner. I truly believe that God does not hold someone accountable if they kill while protecting themselves, and as far as war goes, a soldier just does his/her job. He/She isn't responsible for the war or the killings. Whoever initiated the war, I believe, the Lord holds responsible for that. (Wow, my first serious post in a LONG time)

??? :)

I worried and struggled with this question for a long time. In fact I asked about it here last quite some time ago.

I was in the Marines and fought in Desert Storm. I was a machine-gunner, so you can figure out what I did.

It is something that is hard to deal with, and you never quit thinking about it. But I do believe that fighting in a war, or self-defense, is quite different in God's eyes than simply murdering someone.
