All the more we ought to have faith that He can keep us from falling/sinning. To deny that is to deny the power and gift of God. ERROR, it's a "GIFT". no work involved. You weren't using the verses in proper context.

Sin is a choice, even when you have the power of God available as a believer. Assuming your still flesh and blood, you're not infallible. You make mistakes. Sometimes, you allow the power of the flesh to control your actions, and you miss the mark. Even if you keep repeating you don't, doesn't make it true. If you don't believe you'll walk as He walked here on earth then you will not. It's lack of faith on you part. As for me I am convinced of the promise and ability of God. I look at Jude 1:24 and I know that He is able. I read Matthew 5:6 and I am persuaded of this promise.

Context may be important, which I take into consideration, but there are plenty more hermeneutical principles involved. Willa showed that you were ignoring the Greek tenses for example. So in 1 John 2: 1 it's better translated. "If any man practices sin we have an advocate"?
