<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

this would also depend on whether or not you are self employed....

the reason i say this is for instance:

material wholesale: 350.00

material retail: 400.00

labor: 50.00

gross: 450.00

net 100.00

gross tithe: 45.00

net tithe: 10.00

monies left after

gross tithe: 55.00

net tithe: 90.00

then you have to figure in the tax rate for income tax at about 25% ( some even higher ) that would leave a person with even less ( about $25.00 off of the net income )

monies in pocket after taxes and tithes :

gross, 20 bucks

net 65 bucks......

so, as I said, it depends on what form of employment a person is doing, if it is tighing on the increase, that would be your net...... not gross.....

In the New Testament it says that we should give cheerfully, or it should be from our heart. Now I am not quoting directly, but I know it is put along those lines. In the New Testament it does not mention tithing at all. The Lord knows your heart and knows you do it in His name.

I tithe off the gross. I honor Him by giving to Him first! He gets the first part of what I have, not my left-overs. We should give cheerfully, from the heart. Remember the story of the widow with two mights, she gave all that she had, and the priests turned their nose up at her offering. God knows the heart!

A lot of people will say that tithing, which means tenth, (if we give 10% of what's left over, then God's really not getting 10% is He??) is Old Testament Law, and we're not under the law anymore, but we're under grace. Amen!! PTL we are! The old testament teaches that the first ten percent is His. Remember the parable of the rich young ruler?? He wanted to follow Jesus, and Jesus told him to go and sell everything that he has and give it all to the poor, then follow Him. The rich young ruler was upset at that. You see, really, it all belongs to Him, not just 10%, we're just made stewards of it.

1 Corinthians 16:2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.

The reason Paul said it this is way is because.....We have been bought by the Blood.....everything we are and own is God's.....and....he was not going to put the bondage of the tithe on the church.

Don't worry yourself with gross or net.........ask God what he wants you to give and rejoice in your giving.

....and Fluffy, that's a good article
