(17) And he shall cut it in two with the wings of it, not dividing it. And the priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Jehovah. (Leviticus 1:16-17) Praise God! * Leviticus is the book related to worship * (Numbers 1:47-54) - The Levites were set apart to serve the tabernacle * All its types refer to worship, as those in Exodus referred to redemption. 'Blessed is the one whom You choose, and cause to come near You. He shall dwell in Your courts; we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple.' (8) And thou shalt bring the meat offering that is made of these things unto the LORD: and when it is presented unto the priest, he shall bring it unto the altar. (9) And the priest shall take from the meat offering a memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD. (10) And that which is left of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire. (Levitivus 2:7-10) Praise God! * 'Baken': it is a type of Christ, Who was 'tried as by fire' * Fine flour: not merely ground, but perfect and ready, no unevenness, So with the life of Christ, 'The Man Christ Jesus'. Flour is to the wheat what blood is to the body; and spirit is to the resurrection body. * Oil: Flour mixed with oil, and then oil poured on it. So Christ's life permeated and actuated by the Holy Spirit. * Francincense: This ascended to God as a sweet savour.
