As far as I can ascertain, Jeremiah 4 is a prophetic proclamation against rebellious Judah before they were taken into captivity to Babylon.

Can you explain why Jer 4:23 has the exact same phrase as Gen 1:2, which is "tohu wa-bohu" yet the translation is so different from v.2?

"darkness over the face of the deep"

This word "deep" implies water. I am not sure Ice is measured by depth

Yes, it is.  Scientists have taken "ice core" samples from the north/south poles for decades, to gather data.  Some are quite long.

Keep in mind Moses didn't indicate a specific depth, just that it was deep.

Do you believe the earth was created 6 days before Adam, as the TT suggest?

When I read Hosea Chapter 1 and chapter 6 It clearly shows the 1 day is like a thousand years to the Lord. And this is found in 2Peter 3:8. It is not hard for me to see how one can say the first 4 days without a sun could be 4000 years. It is strange to me that most will use 2 Peter in other places and refuse to even contemplate its use in Genesis.

Well, I DO contemplate 2 Peter 3:8 in Genesis 1!!  Very much!

Could you point to specific verses in Hosea 1 and 6 that "clearly shows the 1 day is like a thousand years to the Lord"?  Thanks.

Since Peter's comment in 2 Pet 3:8 seems rather out of place for the context if Peter was only pointing out that time is meaningless to God, since He is timeless and created time itself.

However, since Peter's comment IS in the context of creation, I see a parallel between the restoration account (6 days) plus a day of rest and the totality of human history.

iow, the 6 days of restoration so that God could put man on earth relates to the past 6,000 years of human history.  The 7th day of rest by God would relate to the MK, where the earth is at full rest again.

This only works if Adam was on earth 6,000 years ago, of course.  But it seems most scholars agree with that number.  So, if so, seems the parallel is rather strong.

I see no real point in Peter's comment where he put it if he wasn't giving a parallel between Genesis 1 and the whole of human history.

And...I could be wrong.  As anyone can.  :)

Are you going to explain YOUR view of an old earth, yet defending what the YECs also do?  You deny being a YEC, yet you resist what I've shown that explains why the earth is much older than Adam.

I'm really curious as to why the reluctance to explain your own view.

I haven't defended the YEC, where did you come up with that?

You think the earth is alot older than Adam yet you have a issue with the OEC?.

Seems there is no rhyme or reason to the things you say, it's like your subconscious mind feeds you info and you deliver what out question.

I didn't.  Why don't you read what I post?  Just read the first line above.  I ASKED you to explain YOUR view of an OLD EARTH.  That's hardly YEC stuff.

More evidence that you are clueless about what I post.  I have been DEFENDING an old earth.  This is unbelievable!

Well, you have proven beyond a doubt that you either fail to read what others post, or you have no understanding of what they post.

I ask direct and clear questions, and you go off the rails.

I have been defending an old earth from a proper translation of Gen 1:2 from the beginning of our discussion.  Where have you been?

You deny being a YEC yet you refuse to explain why you think the earth is old.  I'm curious if your view is more reasonable than mine.

But I guess I'll never know, since you really haven't been IN the conversation, given your very strange claims in your post.
