OK, you are just igoring how "tohu" is translated elsewhere.

Since the LXX (Septuagint) uses "but" a the beginning of the verse, that means there IS a contrast between v.1 and 2, which doesn't occur in any of the English translations.  The LXX is far closer to the Hebrew than any English translation.

And the "was" is lame.  70% of the uses in the OT of that exact form of the verb is translated as "become" or "became".

So the "but" with "became" prove the earth wasn't created "tohu", which is what Isa 45:18 says.

Your putting land before scripture says land was created. After verse two is when the waters separated and then land formed from the lower. I will agree a wasteland has no life

Became a wasteland fits being separated from the waters above. Thus took form and no longer void, yet lifeless waste.

The waters above in only mentioned once in the whole Bible. What ever that is earth came from it.

Nope.  I'm putting Scripture (literally) before anything else, like English translations.

Seems you are still missing the point.  v.2 should have been translated "BUT the earth BECAME an UNINHABITABLE WASTELAND".

Rather than a continuation of v.1 which results in "and the earth was without form and void".

And it came from the upper waters, when it became uninhabitable wasteland a brand new creation lower waters, the waters was separated. Do you know what the upper waters are? It's only mentioned once.

The verse doesn't say WHEN the earth BECAME uninhabitable.  You are speculating.

The verse shows that the earh BECAME uninhabitable.  The Bible doesn't tell us HOW or WHEN.

So I leave it alone.

I accept what's written.  Not what's speculated.

You think it was in verse 1:2, you jump around on your statement playing word salad.

Yea I'm going to leave this alone

Of course I am talking about Gen 1:2.  Can you explain clearly where I've "jumped around" and show me my so-called "word salad".  You need to provide EVIDENCE when you throw around these loos charges.  I say you don't have any.

Right.  That would be a lot easier than to provide the evidence for your loose claims.

We could go on forever talking about the word beginning. The first letter in the first word in the Bible "B" represents a tent or a dwelling or actually a tabernacles. God's desire is to dwell with us.

Interestingly, the Hebrew letter 'bet', written in this form:

can stand for an explosion or rapid expansion!  because it starts on the right with the narrowest stroke of a pen and gets taller suddenly.

Psalm 119 has a section headed with 'bet'.........
