Our former pastor is well loved and respected by so many across the country and in other countries, and yet he is a cult handler. 98 to 99% of the church would never even discern it and would rather condemn me for saying such a thing if they met him. it’s scary how they build up these great reputations and then know they can get away with doing harm to others because either no one will believe the accuser, or no one will care because they love the pastor/leader so much. It reminds me of the Bill Cosby situation. There had to have been many who knew what he was doing, but he was loved by so many that the women coming forward were seen as mean for potentially ruining a great reputation. I think in his case, everyone believed the women, they just didn’t want Cosby hurt. Funny how a person’s reputation is more important than the physical and emotional health of victims and others who could become victims.
