All sin is an abomination before the Lord. The notion that some sins are worse than others was drilled into the brains of Western civilization by the Roman Catholic Church back when The Vatican owned vast tracts of European real estate, hence why indulgences were all the rage.

I think it was drilled into our brains by the government which the Bible has said God set up for us to be subject to. This notion that all sins are the same is nowhere in Scripture. And we wonder why some struggle with our faith. If I steal out of  a grocery  store to feed my starving children, you really believe God sees that the same as me murdering someone for sport?

why?

It was just a turn off to me. Maybe because that’s what my brothers did as kids so I associated it with childlike behavior. But I didn’t look down on anyone for it. I also don’t like pretty boys or men who spend too much time on their appearance. It’s just preferences. I actually loved the nerdy guy.

You have a list of degrees of sinfulness? How interesting.

I don’t. I believe the Bible does and our government.

How do you know if you are heterosexual or homosexual if you dont have desirable thoughts or feelings towards another human being? I mean you personally, not a theoretical person.

Celibates have overcome any lustful feelings they may once have had. I would like to have a faithful friend of the opposite sex, but I don't have lustful thoughts towards her.

where does it say in the bible its ok to steal if......... its ok to lie if................... its ok to cheat if........................instead, He gives us this assurance:

I wasn’t suggesting that the Bible reaches sin is “ok.” I was replying to your statement that I have a “list of degrees if sinfulness.”

i said the Bible has a list and so does our government, which was set up by God to carry out justice.

Here’s one example, but there are more:

30People do not despise a thief if he steals

to satisfy his hunger when he is starving.

31Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold,

though it costs him all the wealth of his house.

32But a man who commits adultery has no sense;

whoever does so destroys himself.

right, so you know you are heterosexual as you talk about your feelings towards a female.

How is that different from being like that, but knowing that, if you DID have lustful thoughts, it would be to someone of the same sex as you?

BTW How long have you been able to overcome any lustful thoughts? How many years, and how old are you?

As a celibate, I don't want to engage in a conversation about peoples' lustful thoughts.

but you can condemn homosexuals outright just for existing, regardless of their celibacy. Ok. I had hoped we could reason this out.

I don't like to see people being led astray, so when I see Christian leaders giving their blessing to something God called an abomination, I sometimes speak out.

Do you believe that celibate homosexuals are an abomination?

The abomination occurs when a man lies with another man, or woman lies with another woman, and they engage in sexual activity (Leviticus 18:22). If this is not happening, then the abomination God spoke of hasn't occurred, I don't believe.

Have you ever had such thoughts, @johnthebaptist? Can you guarantee that you never will again?

The scriptures are rather clear regarding sin in believers:

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8)

The only One who is sinless is Jesus Christ... why do you think we need Him, John?

We've all sinned and we've been commanded to repent of our sin.
