So were many group in the rock 'n' roll venue. Here's one of my favorites. It's now officially Summer time here in California and this song has been on my mind. Sunny Afternoon. Sunny Afternoon The Kinks The tax man's taken all my dough And left me in my stately home Lazing on a sunny afternoon And I can't sail my yacht He's taken everything I got All I've got's this sunny afternoon Save me, save me, save me from this squeeze I gotta big fat mama trying to break me And I love to live so pleasantly Live this life of luxury Lazing on a sunny afternoon In the summertime In the summertime In the summertime My girlfriend's run off with my car And gone back to her ma and pa Telling tails of drunkenness and cruelty Now I'm sitting here Sipping at my ice cold beer Lazing on a sunny afternoon Help me, help me, help me sail away Well give me two good reasons why I oughta stay 'Cause I love to live so pleasantly Live this life of luxury Lazing on a sunny afternoon In the summertime In the summertime In the summertime Ah, save me, save me, save me from this squeeze I gotta big fat mama trying to break me And I love to live so pleasantly Live this life of luxury Lazing on a sunny afternoon In the summertime In the summertime In the summertime In the summertime In the summertime Songwriters: RAY DAVIES The Kinks

And Traffic were also terrific. Blind Faith also. But I think some of Steve's best was when he went solo. No doubt you've heard this, but I thought it was worth sharing. Steve Winwood ~ Wake Me Up On Judgement Day (7" Vinyl-Extended Cut) Find this on YouTube or PM me. I can't post it here. Wake Me Up On Judgement Day Steve Winwood The story goes, the truth is no one knows A stranger came A man who lost his name At night he tells his tale Prison, women, wail They took him in, he let them win Over and over He said if you don't have good words to say Don't wake me up until the Judgment Day 'Cause if nothing is the way it seems Then this life is just a haunted dream And all this love is just falling Down through the years And oh, I'd rather sleep Wake me up on Judgment Day Let me hear golden trumpets play Give me life where nothing fails Not a dream in a wishing well A man in tattered clothes, crying all he knows The darkness grows, that's how it goes Over and over He said I think of the beauty I've had And all it does is make me feel so bad First they make you think you're riding high Then they toss you off in the sky And all this life is just falling Down through the years And oh, I'd rather sleep Wake me up on Judgment Day Let me hear golden trumpets play Give me life where nothing fails Not a dream in a wishing well Say a prayer for the stranger Listen to the stranger Wake me up on Judgment Day Let me hear golden trumpets play Give me life where nothing fails Not a dream in a wishing well Wake me up on Judgment Day Let me hear golden trumpets play Give me life where nothing fails Not a dream in a wishing well Wake me up Let me hear (let me hear, ooh) Give me life (give me life, ooh) Not a dream in a wishing well Wake me up on Judgment Day Let me hear golden trumpets play (give me life) Give me life where nothing fails (ooh) Not a dream in a wishing well (woah, woah) Wake me up on Judgment Day Give me life Give me life where nothing fails (woah) Oh Wake me up on Judgment Day Give me life, give me life Give me life, give me life Edited May 30, 2020 by BeauJangles

Keyboards, guitars, vocals; he just gets better with age. Steve was 14 when he and his brother were with the Spencer Davis Group. Many people don't realize he cowrote I'm a Man that Chicago made famous on their first LP in 1967.

Well, in as much when punk music and new wave/alternative interspersed as a style at the ending of the 1970's and meshed into the 1980's one basic media for MTV, I did like the simplistic raw sound of The Clash. The one thing I didn't care about them was a line to one of the stanzas on London Calling. "Phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust..." It did whaaaa???
