why do Islamists hate the west?

One of the oldest character faults (sins) in the Bible is Envy. None of us are strangers to this feeling. As wrong as it is, its quite human. For example: My 10 year old son's basketball team lost in the championship game last week. The game was close and the refs were on acid but still we came in 2nd place. No one enjoys 2nd fiddle. At the end of the game we were not celebrating and yelling "Were number two!!!!". In fact, all of the parents and players including me were protesting the outcome of the game. "They cheated" "Our 2nd best player didn't show", "How did they end up with 17 foul shots verses our 3", "the refs are blind or were biased" and on and on. But in truth....(and this hurts) the other team just brought more to the court that night and they beat us. OUCH!!!!. This mindset of making excuses for why someone else has had more success does not just stay within the boundries of the sports arena. It spills into family, local and world politics. Muslims are not magically excluded from the Envy bug. Look at their standing in the world today. Most of them still live in the 13th centry. They embrace a false teaching that keeps them enslaved. They put this false teaching in front of every thing including the ability to think straight. They are not about to admit that they themselves along with their misguided religion are the reason that they don't do that well in the world community. They look at the west and compare. "Oh its just the "great Satan" holding us down. Sorta the same way we look at refs that call penalties that favor the other team . They can't stand that a non-Islamic world can accomplish so much and they have little to show for their 1400 years of existance. Its called ENVY. That is why they hate the west. Its a basic fault that exists in all of us and manifests itself in geo-politics. (Victum mentality) Islam does not set up a society that encourages great scientific and technological advances. Infact, it promotes slavery. Still, they find it much easier to blame us instead of looking at their own 3nd rate system. All we have really ever done is discover oil on their land and assist them with our technology that makes it even possible for them to get it out of the ground and sell it. Osama Ben Laden himself, would not have the millions he has to do his Jihad if it were not for the fact that he inherited it from his father who was the biggest construction contractor in the Saudi Kingdom. Where do you suppose the money to do this construction came from? Persion Rug sales? No ....Oil. Oil that we pay good money for. If the west were to just vanish off the planet, the Muslim world would still have the same problems if not more. Folks...we need to quit blaming ourselves for the dirty deeds that the terrorist commit. They are sick in their soul with envy and envy can be extremely dangerous. If we don't stop bickering with ourselves about the orgins of this extreme conflict and start taking the measures (that may seem extreme to some) nessecary, we will end up extremely dead. You, your children, family and friends and on and on. I am not saying that the west is all "goody goody". We are surely not. Just look at what we allow on our TV. But in our partly Godless society, its not uncommon to follow your flesh until the point to where you no longer see the point because you are so miserable and empty. So then many of us turn to the truth. Sound familar? The problem with Islam is the fact that the poor souls following it think they are in sync with God and they see no reason to change or repent. Infact, if you actually take time to read the suras of their "holy" book, you will see that Mohammed clearly taught that it is pleasing to God to rid the earth of the infidels. (anyone who is not a true Muslim).

I sincerely hope we wake up before it's too late.

This seems to hit the nail on the head as to why people of the world might not like America that much anymore.

The biggest problem is America's manifest hypocrisy, its moral talk and often immoral walk, its persistent application of double standards.

The self-proclaimed champion of human rights has aided and abetted countless murderous dictatorships. This alleged sponsor of free trade - is the most protectionists of rich nations. This beacon of charity - contributes less than 0.1% of its GDP to foreign aid (compared to Scandinavia's 0.6%, for instance). This upright proponent of international law (under whose aegis it bombed and invaded half a dozen countries this past decade alone) - is in avowed opposition to crucial pillars of the international order.

To the peoples of the poor world, America is both a colonial power and a mercantilist exploiter. To further its geopolitical and economic goals from Central Asia to the Middle East, it persists in buttressing regimes with scant regard for human rights, in cahoots with homicidal indigenous politicians. And it drains the developing world of its labour, and its raw materials, giving little in return.

All powers are self-interested - but America is narcissistic. It is bent on exploiting and, having exploited, on discarding. It is a global Dr. Frankenstein, spawning mutated monsters in its wake. Its "drain and dump" policies consistently boomerang to haunt it.

Both Saddam Hussein and Manuel Noriega - two acknowledged monsters - were aided and abetted by the CIA and the US military. America had to invade Panama to depose the latter and Iraq for the second time to force the removal of the former.

The Kosovo Liberation Army, an American anti-Milosevic pet, provoked a civil war in Macedonia. Osama bin-Laden, another CIA golem, restored to the USA, on September 11, 2001 some of the materiel it so generously bestowed on him in his anti-Russian days.

Americans believes that the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave is an economically self-sufficient and self-contained continent. Yet, it is not what Americans trust or wish that matters to others. It is what they do. And what they do is meddle, often unilaterally, always ignorantly, and oftentimes murderously.

America has made it unambiguously clear that - with the exception of America - its sole interests rest in commerce. It has also made it clear that it will aggressively secure natural resources in whatever country by military means. It is totally corrupted by vacuous materialism.

America is seen by many to be a latter-day Sodom and Gomorrah, a cesspool of immorality and spiritual decay.

PM ...this article does not take into consideration the privet charity that flows out of this country like honey from churchs and other non-government mandated sorces. Americans are amongst the most generous givers in history and by choice. This article was clearly authored by someone who sees government as the end-all to the problems of humanity. The thing about the billions that flow out of this country yearly is that the ones giving don't feel the need to shout out loud to the rest of the world "hey look ...see how kind we are..."

Also this article dose not take into consideration the billions that America puts out yearly for the security of other nations who can't secure themselves. What great contributions does Scandinavia make in terms of sharing the cost of NATO or the UN? Who bore the cost for most of the cold war?

And thats the rest of the story.

I don't support the terrorists, but if I were a religious zealot, and I looked over at North America and saw the way society prostitutes itself, I would have to assertain that yes, (North) America is at least under the influence of the great satan.

I don't admire the way muslims do things but I do admire their zeal.

To say that they are envious of the states just shows the arrogance that the rest of the world sees in America.
