The Bible doesn't tell us what it was made of, but it's very likely it was a star, like our sun is today. It is also very likely that this became the source of the formation of the universe, since the "Big Bang" describes the event on day four. It is also possible that it was in much the same location as the star we call the sun. Regardless of its location, the rotation of the earth would cause an evening and morning just as the other light source did on day four. This really isn't difficult. It's in the book.
