GAY UNIONS FOR THE ARMY

Gay servicemen and women who enter into civil partnerships are to be entitled to married quarters on military bases.

The so-called "gay marriages" will become legal on December 5 this year following the passage of the Civil Partnerships Act.

Homosexual service personnel are then expected to take advantage of their new rights.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said gay personnel in civil partnerships would be treated in the same way as married troops in terms of entitlements to allowances and benefits.

He said: "The Civil Partnerships Act comes into force in December 2005 and will apply to the armed forces.

"Consequently we will be extending the same entitlements, allowances and benefits to same-sex couples who choose to register a civil partnership recognised in law that are granted to married couples."

Unmarried heterosexual couples and gay couples who have not registered a partnership will continue to be ineligible for married quarters.

Homosexuality was made legal in the armed forces only four years ago.

Wonder what this does to military moral? Since when were civil laws enforced in the military anyways???? I thought if you got drafted at 17 to serve you could drink beer and drive a $3 million tank through people's houses and not have to worry about the insurance premiums.

Since a Supreme Court decision back in 1986, if my memory serves me correctly. You can't drink alcohol until you are 21, even though you can vote and get drafted at 18. The military is more concerned about the lawyers and being politically correct than defending the country anymore.

Who ever brings that CD into the tank is getting shot out of the barrel with the assistance of a Willie Peter round.

The only songs that will be playing in my tank are either "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue", "Flight of the Valkeries", or "This ain't no rag, it's a flag." And I'm open to suggestions, as long as they fit the profile. :)

You guys do realize that this is speaking of the British military, not the U.S.

Sky news is a British news station.

I checked out the site before posting. My concern is that this will eventually happen with the US military, especially now that the Air Force has banned prayer during formations and other official functions.

For my 18th birthday, my mom took me to Red Lobster for dinner. She started to buy me a drink...and I had to inform her that the legal drinking age was 21. She was very upset over the idea that I had just registered in the draft database and was old enough to get drafted, but wasn't considered of legal drinking age. Guess they must have raised it at some point in the past...it was kind of humerous that she thought I could legally drink at 18.

In my opinion, if you are old enough to vote and die for your country, you are old enough to be able to say such famous last words as, "Here, hold my beer and watch this..."
