Psalm 13 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. 1 How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? 2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? 3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4 Lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed against him"; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 5 But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. 6 I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me. You know I am so touched by all the replies.......... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know how long....however, I do know that God is on time. He will not leave you and He will not forget you. He will not illude you... When you call out, He does answer. It may not be a response that you expect or want, but He hears and answers. Is He telling you to wait? (That is the hardest answer for me to accept, by the way..) Is He telling you to listen? (if you feel you are getting NO answer, then it is likely He wants to teach you to listen. You listen by reading the Bible and allowing quiet time to be still and think it over and just...listen! ) hang in there, sweetie! He hears and He cares! Guest Carico
To the OP; I grew up as an atheist. I met my risen Lord 16 years ago and because I've met him, I know he exists. Therefore, I can never deny him. But if i want him to always do what I want, I am sorely mistaken. If my will is in accordance with his, he will always give me what I want. What he will always give me if I ask him is; forgiveness, peace, hope, and the knowledge that he hears me. What he will never give me is the license to indulge in greed, lust, envy, pride, anger, gluttony or sloth. It would be a good idea to search your heart to see what you want from him. He was a Godly man- and yet, everything he had was stripped from him. It made no sense, because he did nothing to deserve it. Yet, he praised God for being so merciful to him. As to whether or not all believers go to heaven- remember what Jesus said. "Even the demons believe and tremble". "belief" in the facts alone is not what saves you. You must sincerely give up your life to God, and dedicate your life to Him. Being a Christian isn't merely about not going to hell, or about knowing in your head that Jesus died for you. It's about wanting to please Him; about wanting to get to know Him... and it doesn't happen without time. You must spend time with Him in order to know him better. However, true Christians DO all go to Heaven. Don't be decieved, however; If you try to give up on being a Christian- it won't be fun. The Holy Spirit will tug at your conscience, and you will KNOW that what you changed was wrong. Also, imagine this- you get to Heaven... but how will Jesus look at you? You certainly wouldn't get a "well done!" Think about it. Evaluate your Christian walk. Do you understand what Christianity is? God loves you passionately. He wants you to spend time with Him... He DIED so that you can go to Heaven and live with him- and spend time with Him forever.... (by the way- it won't be like He's just the king- He'll be everywhere- and with you all the time... and He'll be on His throne at the same time... and with everyone else, too...) What makes you think that you have the right to give up on what He is still working on? It sounds like a very selfish approach. If you are a Christian, it means that you made a covenant. A covenant to do what He wants you to do. If you are being discouraged in part by those friends you already talked about, then I suggest that you don't meet with them for awhile. Whatever the reason, talk with your pastor. If you don't have a pastor that you can talk to, find another church. On-line friends are NOT a substitute for real-life accountability. Get into a bible-study group... or study with your family... whatever you do, find someone where YOU are, to help you, and talk with you. I suggest you read "Jesus Freaks" and "Jesus Freaks 2" by DC Talk. They are extraordinary books about people who love God passionately enough to sacrifice themselves for His purposes. When it is hard to feel God it is easy to feel depressed. The two things go hand in hand. But just because you can't feel him there next to you doesn't mean he isn't there. I try to think of it as a cloudy day, sometimes I can't see the sun but it is still there behind the clouds. When I was 18 I felt a lot like you do now. I walked away from God. I have come back since, but I am still dealing with the consequences of that choice. God forgives, but the consequences still belong to me because I chose them. I'll even admit that when I first walked away from God and started living my own life it felt pretty good. I was still doing the right thing in everyone's eyes, I was in control, it wasn't much different from where I had been before except that i didn't concentrate on God anymore. Only it turned out to be a bit like drugs. I started out just not loving God anymore, and that slowly turned into worse and worse things until I was into all kinds of things that I would have sworn I would never get into. Does that make sense? People don't start out homeless drug addicts, they start out with that first smoke or first huff. Deciding you don't need God anymore is like that first step. Ok, I'm not going to be able to describe the journey. I wish I could ask you to trust me that staying close to God is the only road to real true happiness and peace on earth as weel as the road to Heaven. But I don't think I can ask you to take my word for it. I will pray for you that something happens to make this easier for you and that you don't make any decisions that will affect the rest of your life. I cry out to Him, "Abba, Father............Daddy! Please, hold tight to my hand. Don't let go--- even if I try to pull away! Please, Daddy, hold on to me!" Bless you, child. I know I went through a depression several years ago and still fight it from time to time. You have to realize that the enemy wants you to think that giving up your faith is the right thing to do, he lives for that. However in Psalms I believe it says, "weeping endures for the night but joy comes in the morning" Yomo this life is temporary. I know that when you are where your at now it seems endless but eternity is forever. I would rather have a few bad days down here then to suffer eternity in hell, and the world has nothing and I mean nothing to offer you. Heaven is so worth it. And God did not walk away from you, you are walking away from Him. Run back to him and hold on remember..... Joy comes in the morning. I'm praying for you. Love you sis, Rustyangel
