It is stated that God is not the author of confusion but the author of peace as in all the churches of the saints, then why are there so many denominations with so many different beliefs and doctrines and outright confusion, where is the peace and understanding?

We see this in 1 Corinthians 14:33 and then we see in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that scripture is profitable doctrine, correction, study and that is that the man of God may be perfect. We see in Matthew 4:4 that the Word that proceed out of the mouth of God feeds us and we see that that word is the scriptures today and that that is all we need according to 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Then in John 14:26 we see that the Holy Ghost will teach you everything, then again, why are there so many conflicting doctrines, so many arguments and meaningful but misleading and sometimes purely false doctrines and statements, so many minor and major points of confusion in the Body of Christ, why is the Bride of Christ so questionable today?

The answers lie in church history.

Are you actively seeking to understand church history and how both churches and doctrines have formed, been argued, debated, taken to extremes and lived by faithful Christians?

If you want answers you have to be prepared to search for them.

Shalom! I think that's a good question!

Personally, I believe that there's many reasons, and one of those could be that we're not all (unfortunately) one with the sum of the Holy Word. I believe that if we all were one with the sum of the Holy Word, we all would be one, right?

I also believe that a reason for this, is that there's no room for the son's of Abba Father, who He has called and anointed to be His apostles and prophets (at least not in Norway 🇳🇴), so therefore most of the congregations are going astray from the sum of the Holy Word, because they don't have any apostles and prophets to guide them! The great falling away, right? 😔

One of the reasons is right there in your post:  the promise Jesus made to the Apostles that the Holy Spirit would lead them into all truth was given to them as the leaders and teachers of the church.  The promise is to "y'all" and  not to  individual believers.  So people who have an idea and they feel it's right decide that this feeling is the Holy Spirit telling them they're right.  So thousands of times in church history there have been people with opposing views who both claim that the Spirit has led them to that truth.  Obviously at least one person is wrong in such a situation, but it's far more likely that both are wrong, that they are trying to interpret the scriptures by themselves despite the fact that the promise was not given to all individual Christians, it was given to the teacher and leaders of the church.  Paul tells us how this works when he informs us that the Holy Spirit will send teachers to the church, and that's something we see play out in the first five centuries of the church as one afteranother error popped up and one after another the Spirit sent teachers to correct the errors.

That takes us to another reason we are so divided:  how many Christians today bother to study the ancient controversies and learn how the early Fathers corrected errors so that believers could see Jesus as Who He truly is?  Without studying them, we are doomed to see the same errors pop up over and over (and rarely a new one) -- something easily confirmed by perusing what gets posted on various Christian forums.

Which leads to a third reason:  James wrote, "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness."  Too many people get an idea and decide to share it an insist it is a truth everyone should know -- but they have not done the study and the discipline necessary to be teachers, and when someone tries to give correction they react with self-righteousness and take those who believe them and form a new group.  Teaching is part of the ministry -- what theologians a few centuries ago called the "office" -- of Christ, and we know from the apostle that stepping into the office of Christ is not something to be taken on by one's own decision; no, he must be called, as was Aaron.  And how was Aaron called?  Through another faithful servant of God who was incidentally his brother

The early church quickly combined this with another theme, that everything has to be confirmed by at least two witness, and so no one ever got to be a teacher unless at least two who were known as godly men who were qualified to teach assessed him and proposed him as one to stand in the office of Christ.  Others could challenge such a decision, and test the candidate with questions to make sure he was qualified (one history professor I had told us to imagine the process where we wrote our master's thesis and got it polished:  we then had to go in front of the professors of that department and others who wished to attend and present our thesis, and afterwards answer any questions or challenges, and only if we passed did we get that master's degree.  That, he said, is probably very close to how the early church chose masters -- which is to say teachers who had mastered the knowledge needed to step into the office of Christ in the church.

A final reason relates to most of the others:  people take things they understand about the world and try to force the scriptures to fit; they take a human system of thought and use it to judge the scriptures.  That has been the source of every major heresy; in the early centuries they were all pagan ways of thinking and the teachers had to show that the scriptures didn't fit that 'mold', that the scripture is not to be molded but is to mold all things.  The Roman Catholic church has fallen into this trap several times; first was the pagan idea that there must be just one of all the priests who would be in charge -- that idea came from taking the title "Pontifex Maximus", the Roman title for what was effectively the "supreme priest" over all Roman temples.  This title was bestowed on a pope not out of any scriptural impetus but because when Justinian declared Christianity the sole religion of the Empire, Rome no longer had a Pontifex Maximus so the emperor handed the title to the pope. There are also other examples.

So there are multiple reasons, and if you think about it they all come down to one problem:  pride.  We have pride that we think we know the scriptures without having studied the teachers the Holy Spirit sent we have pride that the Spirit spoke to us and confirmed a truth, we have pride that we can step out and be teachers without anyone asking us to, and we have pride that we don't need to be tested on our knowledge before we venture to teach anyone.
