I don't like scary movies and especially ones involving spirits but my friend really wanted to see it. I would say the movie was good. It definitely emphasized that the supernatural is real, but it was a little too much reality for me. One of the interesting quotes at the end was "Once you have seen darkness, you will carry it for the rest of your life". I have found this to be quite true in my own life. I liked how the movie was hyped as a horror, but it really wasn't. It was recounting of events while the priest was on trial. I expected another Exorcist, and what I got was Boston Legal on PMS/LSD. Though the movie was well done, all I enjoyed it for was the drama. I don't care if it was based on real events or not, it just didn't seem like a horror movie. Maybe the horror was paying 8 bucks to see it. That must be it. Why would a christian even want to see this movie regardless of what your freind wants?? Why not? Just because you're a Christian doesn't mean you have to turn inward into a secluded world of only the prim and proper and pleasant. I guess if someone was unsure about their Christianity they wouldn't want to view such things. For me, it was just a trippy drama with neat special effects at times. I havn't seen it. Excorcisms in the Catholic church are very much real. Demon possession is very much real. Jesus excorcised demons. The only way to fight evil is with the word of God.
