As Gods Word is Alive, re-reading it His Word especially certain places that have answers to our problems proves to be helpful. Just a suggestion that I am trying-to give you (trying to e helpful) that is something that I do as well when struggling with something. And so I will leave it at that .

The pastor asked it once then twice then a third time to a silent congregation. Then the youth bellowed in Barney Fife voice "Nip it in the bud!" The impersonator suddenly found his parents seated beside him in the pew. He was with his friends until that very moment. And they proceeded to to poke him, pinch AND twist him... LOL Sorry to inject humor into this serious discussion. I truly believe while God lays out before us the path of perfection and purity, he is completely willing to make up the difference with Grace our shortcomings when we believe in his Son and love him. Believing God and trusting him implicitly is what I believe made King David a man after God's own heart (even under the Law of Moses). And we have the record of David's failures. Not to beat up on David but to learn by his example.

That’s where I was going as I was reading your post this morning, ‘you’ve got to NIP IT!’ No apologies for humor @JohnD- where would we be if we couldn’t laugh? Since my post and some of the helpful responses I’ve been thinking about why God won’t just take away my problem. Why not just remove the temptation and let me get on with being a good man? I think the answer I received was that if He were to do that then where would my chance to learn come in? How will I learn to ‘master’ it if He just makes it go away? I live in fear of His reprisal but I am seeing that it is His grace I should be focusing on as He allows me to fall and then helps me back up just as I did when my kids were learning to walk. Grace is not just forgiveness of our sin but also the mechanism we use to learn to be holy just as He is holy!

However, Jesus did not have an Adamic father, and we all do. Which is why we long for the day "when this corruptible [shall] put on incorruption, and this mortal [shall] put on immortality..." 1 Cor. 15:54 So in the meantime, 1 John 2:1 ...if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
