It clearly said that Jesus had brothers.  There is no mention of half-brothers.

So if "Brothers" and "half brothers" meant the same then that means now, that they shared either both parents or only one parent respectively in common, that either his brothers were also the sons of God with God as their father or that both Jesus and his brothers had Joseph as their father and there was nothing divine about Jesus, no Son of God since God would then have no Son (this would be an Islamic view, that is what they say) and no perfect sacrifice for our sins was made and we still bear the full burden of our sins and face judgment for them.

Now spend a while thinking that through and see how that would be explained differently.

Sometimes we have to view the scriptures realizing they are a modern English translation of Hebrew texts from am agrarian culture and from a time when word usage for them was quite different than it is for us today.

Luke 4:21-22, "Then he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”  Clearly the people who knew Him regarded Him as Joseph's son.

There are several places where His siblings are referred to as His brothers and sisters, so I assume that what the Bible says is true.

Shalom, JimmyB.

You're not wrong about assuming what the Bible says is true, but one should make sure that he or she knows WHY what the Bible says is true!

Also, know that, although what God says is true all the time, and what the Bible reports for us is always true, what people SAY in what was reported in the Bible is NOT always true! One must also consider the fact that some individuals (especially the Devil) are LIARS on purpose. Others are simply fallable because they are only human.

In this particular case, these people who "spoke well of him" ASSUMED that He was "Joseph's BIOLOGICAL Son." Were they right? No. He was "Joseph's STEP-Son!" He was "Joseph's ADOPTED Son!"
