Hi @LearningToLetGo Interesting screen name there.

Kind of reminds me also; do you think it's the sort of phrase that applies for parents of adolescents who want their first tattoo; and they are a bit surprised, but they know they must adapt to the fact that their sons and daughters are now becoming adults?

(Did you see the recent poll, above, also? I think the results should be interesting, anyway...)

I think a person can get whatever tattoo they want when they turn 18. Before that, no way.

I have seen religious iconography tattoos many times, including crosses and scripture. If that's what a person wants, so be it.

@Willa I know you're not keen on them; but what do you think of the poll results, above, so far?

@LearningToLetGo Thanks; yes, it's wise to wait until 18 (in some states it can be earlier with parental permission but 18 is a wise age to wait until).

Some ppl consider it a long time before actually going ahead; it's no bad thing for the person to wait until there seems to be a real sense of certainty about it.

Well I think everyone has experienced a shot in a Doc's office they go deep into muscle tissue and imo they hurt. Tat's don't hurt near as bad.

@NConly Thanks for participating in the poll vote.

A lot of ppl do seem to wait years before they finally have confidence to have it done.

......felt good ..was 50 when I had mine done, and two of my sons had various tattoos long before me.. their mum, at the age of 50, ..getting a tattoo.......I did look through scripture and reflect on it before I got one-and it was also something I had to deal with as my sons reached 18 and got tattoos rita christianityboard dot com

Maybe ppl are reluctant to go through the experience but eventually if they finally do, then in go the needles with all the ink as per chosen design and then they'll say it felt good. (I guess all part of the background of ppl having finally gotten or potentially getting faith based designs inked in.)

(However, I doubt whether you yourself ever really feared any imaginary pain....)

Increasingly, millennials – and soon to be post-millennials – regard tattoos as a rite of passage to adulthood. In our own consulting practice, we are seeing an growing number of younger candidates who sport visible tattoos, and rejecting on this grounds now puts a damper on the talent pool.

@NConly Indeed so; I reckon though that it never ever occurred to you yourself to ask for numbing cream before your tattoo artist got straight to work on your various tattoos...

PS: @Ps37 Whether or not some Christians like tattoos or not, you may see the relevance of the quote, above, from the business guy in the hospitality industry, who said that driving away young ppl - half of whom may have a tattoo - on those grounds makes little business sense.

I guess at least obliquely this provides a bit of context to the fact that so many Christian young ppl are keen to receive Bible verse inkings at a tattoo parlor.

I did not even know about numbing cream til I started reading the Thread and doing some research on tats. Secondly I did not know to ask for it I thought one had to buy and apply the go to the tat shop.
