Hurricane Wilma accelerated toward storm-weary Florida on Sunday and grew stronger, threatening residents with 110-mph winds, tornadoes and a surge of seawater that could flood the Keys and the state's southwest coast.

It's making landfall about now.

Has anyone seen the eye? That thing is huge! I heard it was over 40 miles across.

First of all, I'm happy to find some power and an internet hook-up at work to find out what is going on, since a vast majority of the area where I live is out of power (snapped power poles, debries blown into substations, etc). The eye passed over us, and it was "fun". 100+ MPH winds before the eye passed, 111+ MPH winds when it passed over. And it could be a month before power is restored in most areas. Two things that are a positive: (1) Temps are in the 70's during the day and in the 50's at night with low humidity. (2) At least I have enough body fat to keep me going for the next few weeks.

I was out of power for 5 days from a hurricane and know how frustrating it can be.

Hope you get your power back soon!

Two things about not having power at night: (1) I spend close to a half and hour looking at the stars when I get home at 2:30 in the morning and (2) I was driving tonight and saw A METEOR blast across the sky! It's been years since I saw that happen.
