Christ Jesus (The Vine) and (( ye are )) the branches

John 15:5 (( I am )) the vine,
(( ye are )) the branches:

The True Vine

John 15:1 (( I am )) the true vine,
and (( my Father)) is the husbandman.

There are two kinds of branches

John 15:2a  Every  branch (( in me ))
that (( beareth not )) fruit (( he  taketh away ))

And these branches

John 15:2b .and every branch  (( that beareth )) fruit, (( he purgeth ))
it that it may (( bring forth more fruit ))

John 15:5 (( I am )) the vine,
(( ye are )) the branches:
He that abideth (( in me )) and I (( in him ))
the same (( bringeth forth )) much fruit
for (( without me ))  ye  can do nothing.

Speaking of them in terms of dealing with those (branches) in Christ (the Vine) which actually bear the fruit of the Spirit & the purging/pruning of those (branches) who are in him (and known by their fruits) he says,

John 15:8 (( Herein )) is my Father glorified,
(( that ye bear )) much fruit;
so shall ye be
(( my disciples ))

John 5:4 Abide (( in me )) and I (( in you )).
As (( the branch )) cannot (( bear fruit )) of itself,
(( except it )) abide in (( the vine ))
no more (( can ye )) except ye (( abide in )) me.

John 15:6 If (( a man )) abide not (( in me )) he is cast forth (( as a branch )) and is (( withered )) and men gather (( them )), and cast (( them )) into the fire, (( and they )) are burned. ( Same theme as shown in Mat 7:20, Heb 6:8, Mat 13:40-42 )

John 15:7 If ye (( abide in )) me,
and my words
(( abide in )) you,
ye shall ask
(( what )) ye will,
and it shall be
(( done unto )) you.

A man/ branch cannot bear fruit of itself (alone) but by abiding in Christ (the Vine ) which is both abiding in him and is doctrine (2 John 1:9, John 15:5, & 7, 1 John 3:24 ) which was not his own but His that sent him.

That which beareth not fruit (which is only by Jesus Christ) but is rejected

Heb 6:8 But that (( which beareth )) thorns and briers (( is rejected ))
and is nigh unto cursing (( whose end )) is to be burned.
(Same themes as is shown in Mat 7:20 John 15:6, Mat 13:40-42)

Of false prophets who are not abiding in the Lord Jesus Christ

Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come (( to you )) in sheep's clothing, but (( inwardly )) they are (( ravening )) wolves.

Mat 7:16 Ye shall (( know them )) by their fruits.

Fruits come by the Father's choice Vine, by abiding in Jesus Christ (even in Him and His words)

Then he asks,

Do men gather grapes (( of thorns )),
or figs (( of thistles ))?

Mat 7:17 Even so (( every  good )) tree bringeth forth good fruit;
but a
(( corrupt tree )) bringeth forth evil fruit.

Mat 7:18 A (( good tree ))  cannot  bring forth evil fruit,
neither can a
(( corrupt tree)) bring forth good fruit.

Mat 7:19 (( Every tree )) that (( bringeth not forth )) good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.  ( Same theme Heb 6:8, & John 15:6, Mat 13:40-42 )

Mat 7:20 Wherefore by (( their fruits )) ye shall (( know )) them.

Again he says

Mat 7:16 Ye shall (( know  them )) by their fruits.

Do men gather grapes (( of thorns )) , or figs (( of thistles? ))

And in Hebrews it is also written

Heb 6:8 But that (( which beareth )) thorns and briers (( is rejected ))

Rejected (( is castaway )) even  reprobate

Same common theme between these.

Whether they be branches which bear not fruit, or trees without the same, or that which beareth thorns and briers (in contrast) it's reprobate

The whole verse here

Heb 6:8 But that (( which beareth )) thorns and briers (( is rejected ))
and ((  is nigh unto )) cursing (( whose end )) is to be burned.
( Same themes as is shown in Mat 7:19, Mat 13:40-42 John 15:6 )

Mat 7:19 (( Every tree )) that (( bringeth not forth )) good fruit is hewn down, (( and cast into )) the fire.
( Same themes as is shown in Heb 6:8, John 15:6, Mat 13:40-42 )

John 15:6 If (( a man )) abide not (( in me )) he is cast forth (( as a branch )) and is (( withered )) and men gather (( them ))
and cast
(( them )) into the fire, (( and they )) are burned. (Same themes as shown in Heb 6:8, and Mat 7:19, Mat 13:40-42 )

In Heb 6:8 That which is bearing thorns and briers which is rejected (whose end is to be burned) and Mat 7:19 Shows that which bears
no good fruit hewn down and cast into the fire. And in John 15:6 of the branches not abiding, withered and cast into the fire and they
are burned. Lastly, in Mat 13: 40-42 of the tares gathered and burned in the fire in the end of the world

The good seed (the children of God)
and the tares ( the children of the wicked one) which grow together

Mat 13:40 As therefore (( the tares )) are gathered (( and burned )) in the fire;so shall it be in the end of this world.

Mat 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth (( his angels )),
and they shall (( gather out )) of his kingdom (( all things )) that offend )) and (( them ))  which do iniquity;

Mat 13:42 And shall (( cast them )) into a furnace of fire:
there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Again as Jesus said,

John 15:8 (( Herein )) is my Father glorified,
(( that ye bear )) much fruit;
so shall ye be
(( my disciples ))

These then are

Phil 1:11 (( Being filled )) with the fruits (( of righteousness ))
which are by (( Jesus Christ )),
(( unto )) the glory and praise of God.

Ephes 5:9 For the fruit (( of the Spirit )) is in all goodness
and righteousness and truth
 (Gal 5:22)

The manifestation of the Sons of God is in doing righteousness (1 John 3:10) verses the other

1 John 2:29 If ye know that (( he is )) righteous, ye know that
every one that
(( doeth )) righteousness is born of him.

If you know he is righteous those who are born of him would have like-fruits (or the fruits of righteousness) by the Spirit

1 John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that (( doeth )) righteousness (( is )) righteous, (( even as )) he is righteous.

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master

The fruits of righteousness which are by Christ being manifested in the children of God

Whether  of a branch of the Vine or a tree to its fruit or of a Father with a son  between them show the same themes in  pruning's, purging's, chastisements, removals and/or castaways. Or as grafted in (in the one) or an adoption into the other (such as  family) by one Spirit only to become more fruitful by the Fathers corrections and the peaceable fruits it works in  those who are exercised therein.

John 15:1 (( I am )) the true vine,
and
(( my Father )) is the husbandman.

John 15:2 Every branch (( in me )) that (( beareth not )) fruit
(( he taketh away )):

and every branch (( that )) beareth fruit,

(( he purgeth it )) that it may bring forth (( more fruit )).

The Father of spirits (Heb 12:9)

As the branches are men (as ye are the branches) is speaking of them in terms of dealing with those in Christ (the Vine) to bear fruit as by the Spirit through  the purging/pruning/chastening of those (as sons of God) in Jesus Christ and as by their fruits ye shall recognize the same.

And we are to be encouraged (not discouraged)  by these things

Heb 12:7 If ye endure (( chastening )) God dealeth with you (( as with sons )) for what son is he whom the father (( chasteneth not ))?

Through belief in Gods son we are adopted into (even grafted into)  the family (tree) or into the Vine/Christ. We having been received of God in Christ (his beloved) and as we ourselves continue in abiding in Christ (and even in him and his words/doctrine) we will bear the fruits of righteousness by the Spirit Christ.

Whether its Pruning what is grafted into the Fathers choice vine or being adopted into the Family of God to be made partakers of Christ
(and his divine nature) the Father himself chasteneth every son received in the household of God.

Both pictures show corrections to that same end, whether in a vine or a son in the house of his Father. Who tends to more fruitful changes in the abiding and fruitful as a partaker of the righteousness by faith (being so filled) and manifestly declared as the children of God

Father and the sons of God and their chastening

Heb 12:11 Now (( no chastening )) for the present seemeth to be joyous, (( but grievous )): nevertheless afterward (( it yieldeth ))  the peaceable (( fruit of )) righteousness unto them which are (( exercised thereby )).

Bastards (which be not sons) would seem to be as the same branches taken away being without chastisement (or no purging/ pruning
received by the branches which actually do bear fruit receive.

These which abideth not cannot of themselves bear fruit and shows the as cast forth. And so if a branch cannot bear fruit of itself the same would be that which beareth thorns (and is rejected)

John 15:6 If (( a man )) abide not (( in me )) he is cast forth (( as a branch )) and is (( withered )) and men gather (( them )) and cast (( them )) into the fire, (( and they )) are burned. (Same theme shown in Heb 6:8, and Mat 7:19, Mat 13:40-42 )

That which is approved wherein the Father (even the husbandman)  is glorified through Christ Jesus (the Vine) are the branches bearing much fruit (and that of the Spirit and of righteousness).

You can show it according to the doctrine and abiding also. Even as John said if you don't abide in Christ's doctrine (which was not His own doctrine but the Father's) he hath not God. Since it is by Jesus Christ we come unto the Father.

Digging through some older studies and thought I would post it, could use some fine tuning but its a very simple one.

Or try it this way according to doctrine

John 7:16
My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

2 John 1:9
Whosoever transgresseth,
and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.
He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ,
he hath both the Father and the Son.

John 15:1
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

John 5:4
Abide in me and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
except it abide in the vine
no more can ye except ye abide in me.

John 15:7
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

John 15:8
Herein is my Father glorified,
that ye bear much fruit;
so shall ye be my disciples

Phil 1:11
Being filled with the fruits of righteousness
which are by Jesus Christ,
unto the glory and praise of God.

1John 2:24
Let that therefore abide in you,
which ye have heard from the beginning.

If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you,
ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

2 John 1:9
Whosoever transgresseth,
and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.

1 John 2:29
If ye know that he is righteous,
ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

1 John 3:7
Little children, let no man deceive you:
he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

Ephes 5:9
For the fruit of the Spirit is
in all goodness and righteousness and truth
(Gal 5:22)

John 15:8
Herein is my Father glorified,
that ye bear much fruit;

(John 15:5)

He that abideth in me and I in him
the same bringeth forth much fruit
 Mat 7:16

Ye shall know them by their fruits. (Gal 5:22, Eph 5:9)

Then he asks,

Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Hebrews 6:8
But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected

That which beareth the same is castway (even reprobate)

Hebews 6:8
But that (( which beareth )) thorns and briers (( is rejected ))
and is nigh unto cursing (( whose end )) is to be burned.

( Same theme is shown in Mat 7:19, Mat 13:40-42 John 15:6 )

It speaks of manifestation of the sons of God and the devil (1 John 3:10)

The fruit of (( the Spirit )) is in all righteousness Eph 5:9
For the fruit (( of the Spirit )) is
in all goodness and righteousness and truth
(Gal 5:22)

Through abiding in Jesus Christ

Phil 1:11
(( Being filled )) with the fruits (( of righteousness ))
which are by (( Jesus Christ )),
(( unto )) the glory and praise of God.

Just so we would not be deceived

1 John 3:7
Little children, let no man deceive you:
he (( that doeth )) righteousness is righteous,
even as he is righteous.

Same theme through abiding in Him by abiding in the doctrine of Christ

Thank you!  Abiding in the Vine is where we should each live our lives daily.  Without His touch and word each day we would not make it through the dark valleys of life.  The greatest honor of my life was the day I was grafted into the Vine!  Oh, glorious day! :amen:

@debrakay PS: John 15 is about abiding in the vine for fruitfulness; the true believer doesn't lose his or her salvation (Romans 8.38-39), but can become unfruitful.

I often wonder why those who are committed to Jesus and love him with all their heart would not want others to experience the same.  I know in the past I was mainly a seed planter (woman who like to talk:P alot) but as the years and decades have passed I now see some of the fruit from those seeds and it blesses my heart so much to know I have been fruitful.  Some are way more fruitful but I don't thing there is any measuring going on.  We all know what happened to the fig tree that Jesus tried to get fruit from which was barren of fruit.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
