Are High Fashion designers evil for creating high priced items and contributing to fashion elitism and snobbery world over? Furthermore is it wrong for me as a Christian to be sporting a Gucci wallet and Prada shoes????

A Gucci wallet may be pretty (I don't know, I've never seen one) but it won't hold any more money, credit cards or photos than my dollar store wallet will :)

I don't know about designers being "evil"......they're making a living with the talent God gave them. Do they know Jesus? How do they live their lives? What do they do with the money they earned?

Elitism and snobbery have been around much longer than high fashion......that's the individual, not a designer.

I don't think it's wrong to want or have "nice" things but, they are just "things". In the end, they don't matter.

This makes me think of a line from one of my favorite songs ~"If I should ask for things I want, just give me what I need" ~ :17:

the higher the price, the less it has to carry, for all the money that would normally go inside was spent on the outside....

My take on this designer things:

I have a Dooney&Burke purse that I purchased for $239.00 Silly, maybe but it was something that I saved for and have wanted for a long time. Not so much because of the name but because of the quality and the design I fell in love with. I have had this purse for a few years now and it is still in great shape.

ALot of people buy designer labels for the bragging rights. Some buy it because they think that the more you spend, the better it is.

Seems to me like your really hung up on expensive things and dont' seem to be able to get past that. I'm not sure what your problem is but if you can afford a Gucci wallet and don't ask someone to get it for you there's no problem. But as I said your just hung up on things like this. As for me I don't get what the big deal is. I've never been impressed with labels. As for you I think it pride and you can read about pride in scripture.

I have no problem with fashion clothing, etc. myself. However I don't like the price, lol! So I make thrift stores/garage sales to buy most of my clothes:

A nice pair of Ralph Lauren dress slacks-got at a thrift store as part of "stuff a bag for $1" deal, lol!

A nice Tommy pullover Polo shirt-yard sale for $2, lol!

Hart, Schaffner, and Marx sport coat-included in the "stuff a bag" deal!

Nice Stafford suit-thrift store for $1!

Nice Happy Goodmans 8-track tape-thrift store, $1-oh wait, that doesn't count! :17:

Seriously, if you like expensive things, try hitting thrift stores, flea markets, and yard sales. Most of the time you'll pay a fraction of the cost than you would for new and it looks just as good! If nothing else, hit end of season sales at the department stores; I bought several nice shirts from Dillard's, including a Polo one, for $11.99 apeice.

This is your answer.

Matthew 6:19-24

19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;

20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Where is your treasure?

Who is your master?
