(Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Wednesday that it intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen, as Iran-backed Houthi terrorist organization claimed responsibility for the attack.

The missile was reportedly aimed at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, according to Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree. “We launched a missile toward Ben Gurion Airport in support of our brothers in Gaza,” Saree said.

The attack coincided with U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to the Gulf region. Earlier this month, Trump had announced a ceasefire agreement with the Houthis, declaring that the group had pledged to stop targeting American vessels.

“I reached a ceasefire with the Houthis that will halt attacks on U.S. ships,” Trump said. “As a result, the U.S. will stop bombing the Houthis in Yemen.”

However, the Houthis have since clarified their position, stating that they will continue their campaign against Israel. “We will continue to fire missiles and drones towards Israel,” the group announced, dismissing any linkage between the U.S. ceasefire and their stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict.

The Houthis have repeatedly targeted vessels in the Red Sea, citing their campaign as an act of solidarity with Palestinians. Their attacks have disrupted major global trade routes and intensified regional tensions.

The attempted missile strike on Wednesday followed another failed launch just a day prior, in which a Houthi-fired missile reportedly fell short of reaching Israeli territory. The IDF confirmed both incidents and reiterated that the threats were neutralized before any damage could occur.

Meanwhile, tensions remained high on Israel’s other fronts. Overnight, three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, with Palestinian Islamic Jihad claiming responsibility. The group said the launches were in retaliation for recent Israeli airstrikes.

In southern Gaza, the IDF and Shin Bet security agency released a joint statement declaring that Hamas underground terror infrastructure located beneath the European Hospital in Khan Yunis had been destroyed.

According to i24NEWS, a security source confirmed that the Israeli strikes late Tuesday targeted senior Hamas figure Mohammed Sinwar, the brother of Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by Israeli forces last year.

In Lebanon, local reports indicated that Israeli forces carried out an attack between the villages of Reman and Nabatieh al-Fawqa in the country’s south. The strike is believed to be part of Israel’s ongoing operations to prevent the spread of Iran-backed terrorist activity across its northern border.

The escalating regional conflict continues to unfold as Israel pursues its war in Gaza, which began after the deadly Hamas raid on southern Israel in October 2023.
