The rumblings of global warming are echoing across Greenland. Groups of scientists studying ancient climate, tweaking computer models of future climate and even listening to earthquakes add to the evidence that global warming is melting polar ice, according to a series of papers in this week's issue of the journal Science.

Agreed - the doom-and-gloom sayers think that it is all up to us, we are to blame because mankind is so mighty and powerful that we can change the climate by our own actions and also reverse it by our own actions. They don't realize the truth, that God is in control.

With respect to the solar warming, look at http://www.friendsofscience.org for an explanation of what is going on. Clearer thinking will show that much of the "global warming due to increased CO2 levels" is simply not true.

Is the globe warming?

Yes!

Is it because of us?

The jury is still out on that one.

Would you please refer me to your sources - I'm interested in reading up on these things.

Thanks!

Genisis 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

In Romans 8 Paul speaks about how one man (Adam) caused the entire world to fall into sin. In case there is confusion on what "world" is, Paul states that all of creation. This means all of creation fell into sin because of one man.

God is powerful and in control, but it doesn't mean there aren't consequences for our actions. Man not only can change the climate, man has changed the climate. This does not take the power away from God, it merely shows how far we've fallen from God. You forget that materialism is what causes pollution, which in turn causes climate change. You are, in effect, saying there are no consequences for materialism.

I still think that whether or not one beleives in global warming is more a matter of what one wants to believe rather than what "the evidence clearly points to."

The problem is that both sides can point to valid arguments. For instance, we can pretty much accept as fact that when a large enough volcanic erruption occurs, it totally disrupts Earth's climate for years because of everything spewed into the air. It takes time for Earth's ecosystem to process the ash and gases and bring the climate back to equilibrium - just like when chemicals are injected into the human body that disrupt its system(s).

The question is are we releasing more gases into the atmosphere than the Earth is able to process? Is the Earth maintaining its equilibrium, or is our production superceding it?

But we know in the past the climate has been warmer - recall that the Vikings used to farm Greenland!

So, what is natural and what is man-made? :emot-hug:

Do we truly have enough information to accurately sayit is definantly one or the other, or a mixture of both?
