What is more modest on a windy day, a woman bending over in a skirt/dress or in a pair of pants? I'll call for the pants any day! And just because someone puts on a dress/skirt to go to church doesn't automatically make them something holy. I am married to someone who claimed to be on the holiness kick of no pants and no makeup and let me tell you, it was a farce. She still wears her skirts/dresses to church, leaves church, and lies like she's a dog when she's out of church. No, Butero, no offense intended here, but simply someone going through the motions of looking holy doesn't make them holy-whitewashed sepulchers come to mind, lol! As been said before dresses can be immodest and so can pants.. We know in our hearts if we are born again and have grown any in the Lord that immodest clothing is inappropriate for a man or a woman outside church let alone inside of it.. Some things are just personal preferences and pants/dress is a personal preference.. I personally feel we should have enough respect for the Lord to come to church dressed in a way that would give Him respect..bring Him the best I have... No matter what that best is..just come... Like I have said before people who visit the white house have more respect than Christians do sometimes.. I just saw a thing on TV where you have to be dressed up to see the Queen.. Heels are required if you are a woman,or you may not come into her presence.. I see nothing wrong with that tradition....but it is not scriptural..unless you want to use .. "respect to who respect honor to whom honor" she asks for it ...you respect her wishes and do it..or you don't come.. Can we not dress with modesty and respect when we come into the house of worship.. that was what this thread was started about... Dress modestly,whether in pants or dresses,but we should do that in all the things we do.. we are the church..We are to be "Led by the Spirit"..yes? Dress, or pants, what spirit are you of? Why are you there? According to who? A.K. and his historians were basing everything on the fact a heathen culture was doing these things and Europeans took the idea from them and copied heathen practices. Hardly anything to make a defense on. Many heathen nations practiced cross-dressing as part of their worship to idols. So, if tights came form heathen cultures then tights are evil for women to wear as well. Whew-hoo! I don't have to wear panyhose on religious grounds! Hey, wait a minute. Pants came form heathen cultures? So why do you wear pants and not Biblical robes? Also I gave several links to web-sites that gave a different history on pants. Did you look at them? If we begin there rather than with the externals, we will get closer to what God desires.
