Quick clarification here. Man is not inherently evil in the sense that they were created that way by God. God created them good. People became sinful as a result of some bad decisions by our first parents. When humans made these initial bad decisions, their natures were changed. They died spiritually (they were separated fom God). This spiritual death is now handed down parent to child. So humanity is tarnished, but this was not inherent. It was brought on by decsions and actions they themselves took

Is it a myth or scripture based truth that a sinner is spiritually dead and separated from God? If the later, any scripture to support?

Grace from God and peace from our Lord Jesus Christ to all!

If sin hadn't separated us from God, then there would've been no need for Christ. So yeah, if you want scriptural support, how about the entire book?

As EricH stated, man was initially created good and perfect, but after The Fall...sin entered, man (and all of creation) suffered the consequences like a ripple effect. The entire purpose of redemption was for Christ to restore us back to fellowship with God. That was the whole point. But if you're looking for some isolated verses that might give you some confirmation, here's a few that state what our condition is prior to salvation:

* We do not seek God (Romans 3:11)

* We have a mind that is hostile towards God (Romans 8:7)

* We cannot submit to God (Romans 8:7)

* We are dead in sin (Ephesians 2:1)

* We have a heart of stone towards God (Ezekiel 36:26)

* We love darkness, we hate the light (John 3:10)

* We desire to do the will of satan (John 8:44)

* We follow satan (Ephesians 2:2)

* We are enslaved by sin (John 8:34)

* We are unable to please God (Romans 8:8)

* We don't understand spiritual things (1 Corinthians 2:14)

All of these verses above give us examples of what sin does to us and how it affects our relationship with God.

I have a quick question. Can some of you provide scriptural support to show that man is inherently corrupt?

Thanks,

Tim.

You don't need the Bible to prove that man is inherently corrupt...just look out the window or read the newpaper.

The Bible is stating the obvious here.

I'm afraid my question is yet answered. Nevertheless, iniquities can separate between us and God and sins can make Him hide His face from us (Isa 59:2). But to equate separation with being "spiritually dead", unless figurative, is what I need an explanation of.

Let us also be mindful that iniquities separating between a man and God does not mean or suggest such a man may have been forsaken by God. God is not a God of the dead (even a dead spirit) (Mat 22:32), but of the living. Nevertheless, Jesus Christ is Lord over both the dead and living (Rom 14:9).

I know spirits of sinners whose names are not in the Book of Life at the end will be destroyed, together with death, in the Lake of fire. Until then, I believe all are living spirits even when out the body or even while in Hell.

Grace and peace from God and from the Lord to all!

I'm not understanding where you need clarification. What parts of being "dead in our trespasses" from Ephesians 2 are you in conflict with? Are you asserting that this is not true, that we are really "alive" to God prior to salvation? If so, please show us scriptural support for your assertions. Scripture teaches that those who are not saved, as I showed above, have hearts of stone towards God, are hostile towards God, are dead in sin, cannot obey God, etc. It further teaches that the Holy Spirit opens hearts (Acts 16:14), changes hearts (Ez. 35:26), makes those who were dead alive (Eph. 2:5), and reconciles us to God (Rom. 5:10). I've given multiple verses as examples to show what Scripture teaches. If you believe something else, what are you basing this belief on?

Humans are made in the "image of God" and, thus, our souls cannot cease to EXIST. All created souls will always exist. They shall eternally exist as either 1) alive (with God) or 2) dead (separated from God).

Excellently put and I humbly submit as follows, if you don't mind my using your base statement: "Humans are made in the "image of God" and, thus, our souls cannot cease to EXIST. All created souls will always exist. They shall eternally exist as either 1) alive (with the knowledge of God and Christ; Jhn 17:2-3) or 2) dead (without the knowledge of God and Christ)."

That is the kind of "death" Adam was subjected to and same kind of "quickening or life" and "death" that Paul mentions in Ephesians 2:1.

Iniquities may separate between a man and God (Isa. 59:2), but not all sins are unto death (1Jo 5:16), that is, (being without the knowledge of God).

Therefore, iniquities separating (standing between) man and God does not necessarily equate a sinner's "spiritual death" that figuratively explains his living spirit being without the knowledge of God.

Grace and peace to all!

In alot of ways, these posts are true, but there needs to be said something that often goes unsaid. Man apart from G-d, is capable of doing good.

We were created in the image of the Father, in which we inherited certain traits of His, such as the seed of good which exists in all things that mirror the image of G-d.

But also while we are able to perform acts of good and kindness, we also are able of performing great deeds and acts of evil.

But that's human nature.

Shalom

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
