The thief comes not, except to steal, to kill and to destroy

Edmund Burke - ew.

nevertheless, yeah i remember peter singer. i learned about him in ES 101...lots of headaches had. trust me, while he may be important as a point of reference and he has certain interesting ideas about sentientism, the practical applications of his ideas are far from being accepted.

The statement he made is true, if I or my fellow Christian's do not vote or say anything (protest or discussions) then we are basically saying go ahead slaughter innocent life. Babies are a blessing and should not be treated like a disposable Kleenex just because it is inconvenient. There is only one reason to abort, if the mother will die such as in a tubular pregnancy. My friend had this happen and it was devastating to both she and her husband. But they had to terminate the pregnancy or the baby

WOWEE! Might this "highly principled" Princeton bio-ethicist also kill disabled ADULTS? If not, why not? Size doesn't make people. A Tom Thum is just as alive as a Paul Bunyon. Maybe some "cool cats" at Princeton need a Bio-Ethics 101 with all due haste? Right on!!

It amazes me that these guys can be tree huggers and fight to save a mouse in california; thus preventing farmers from being able to farm their land, but will take the life of a human.

Reprobate mind!!!

lets not stereotype the environmental movement too quickly now, remember that it's highly facted.

anyway, i was just saying i don't like edmund burke's whole theory of politics in general.

I wasn't quoting anything you said, I was simply stating that it seems like in this day and age, many will fight for the right of an animal (sometimes it may be worth it) but not consider the Human who is far above those animals. Sorry, didn't see your post.

I wasn't going into his political theories just the statement he made, I felt was true.

As far as the environment, we haven't been good stewards of this planet. The fish have mercury, in California 60% of our drinking have unsafe levels of contamination, the ozone level is being depleted, top soil erosion, global warming, hunting to the point of extinction and the list goes on. God gave us this Planet to care for and we are doing a bad job. Man's greed and want for instant gratification haven

thanks for replying with a sensible take on the environment - too often i hear people say something to the effect of "the world is ending soon, why should we care what happens to the earth?" there's not much that bothers me more than that kind of apathy. the planet is a magnificant treasure, and one that we should look to preserve, for the sake of wildness itself as well as for the sake of our children.

(re: burke, i know, i don't totally disagree with that quote, i just think it was made regarding his horror at the french revolution. his response to that revolt outlined his core principles of conservatism (in the purest sense of the word) and has always sat sour with me. he believed that man did not have natural rights, by the way)
