Guys are you telling me that when three men rape a domestic worker and put a sock in a 5 year old childs mouth to make her suffocate - or when 6 men rape a 6 month old child (true stories) it is the same as me smoking a cigarette or lying to my wife that i have a headache when all i want is a massage. Please give me some practical advise here i am sure i am not the only one wondering about this! :24:

In God's eyes, one sin makes us as guilty as a multitude.

It doesn't make sense to us, no, but remember, the Bible says His ways are higher than ours, His thoughts are higher than ours.

The good news about that is if you're a Christian, your sins, large or small, won't be counted against you in the coming judgement. Jesus' atonement was and is and will always be enough for the worst sin we'll ever commit.

Yep- all sin is equal. This can sound crazy to us...and it is! But it's not to God-- and his opinion is the only one that really matters. God bless.

First you have to be clear what is a sin and what is not....

In my opinion smoking is not a sin...

smoking 14 packs a day might be a sin just like gluttony or drinking alcohol in excessive amounts.

As far as "little white lies" to get a massage...why not just tell the truth?

Are you absolutely sure that the Holy Spirit who resides in you (if you know the Lord) would be happy to have you ingest poison-laden smoke into your lungs? Think about it some more.

No. All sin is not the same. Though it is all offensive to a pure and holy God.

There is sin which is more grave as it is done with pre-meditation and full consent of the will. Serious sin diminishes the love of God we hold within us and paves the way for more sin.

Scripture describes these for us. For example:

Matt 15:19-20

For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, unchastity, theft, false witness, blasphemy.

These are what defile a person..."

Gal 5:19 -21

" Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness,

idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions,

occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. "

1Jo 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin [which is] not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

There is also the matter of culpability; how aware are you of the sin? Scripture gives some evidence that God has mercy on us in our ignorance:

I Tim 1:13 I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and an arrogant man, but I have been mercifully treated because I acted out of ignorance in my unbelief.

Luke 23:34

"Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do"

Acts 3: 15

The author of life you put to death, but God raised him from the dead; of this we are witnesses.

16

And by faith in his name, this man, whom you see and know, his name has made strong, and the faith that comes through it has given him this perfect health, in the presence of all of you.

17

Now I know, brothers, that you acted out of ignorance, just as your leaders did;

18

but God has thus brought to fulfillment what he had announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that his Messiah would suffer.

19

Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away,

*********************

HOWEVER.....all that being said, "God will not be mocked".

If you know in your heart that what you are about to do is sin-----and you choose to do it anyway----you choose Satan over Jesus.

ALL sin is an offense against God and grieves the Holy Spirit. :24:

Put out that cigarette and just ask for the massage. :(

Peace,

Fiosh

It is not what goes into the body, but what comes out.

The Holy Spirit resides in the heart...not the lungs.

I know that the Word tells me in 1 Corinthians 6:19:

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;"

What does that say to you?
