Anything Hardcore to me is like screaming in my ear and gives me a headache, so I don't listen to it. :whistling:

Christian rock is love. XD

I'm a teenager. I listen to approximately seven hours of music every day, and with so much going into my system, I can't afford anything trashy. I like Christian rock-- the lyrics glorify God. I honsetly see nothing wrong with having drums and guitar in the background with someone screaming to the Lord.

If you do have a problem with it, could you please tell us why? Instead of just saying, "It's bad." maybe tell us where you're coming from. I've seen nothing in the Bible that forbids Christian rock music. David sang and danced to the Lord and Michael was angry at him for it, but God was happy with David. Micheal really had no biblical reason to be angry, and this kinda reminds me of this thread.

Speaking of Chrisitan rock-- anyone heard anything about the band Demon Hunter? Do they have a Linkin Park sort of vibe, or totally different? I'm considering taking a look at some of their stuff. :emot-hug: And also the Christian band Red.

Well I think that is great that you are into that stuff, thank God we are all different. I will praise the Lord on a different level than you, why imitate the world. Love not the world nor the things that are in this world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. that is all i have to say on this topic. YSIC Josie

Littlelite: ^__^ Thanks for your wise words.

To clarify to anyone on this board: I also listen to Chris Rice and I sing hymns... I have no problem with people liking traditional stuff!! 'As The Deer' is one of my favorite songs. Let everyone worship in their own musical style, eh? As long as it glorifies God.

Greetings brother,

I am for all forms of worship that are in spirit and truth to the Lord. Hardcore music is not my preference. I used to listen to heavy music, but over time my tastes have changed (a lot of it has to do my playing style. I play guitar). I used to have electric guitars and loud amps with all the kinds of effect. Overtime that changed.

After saying that. Here is an observance of mine. Some who are against heavy music to the Lord merely do not like that type of music. One should not decide what is pleasing to God

I'm with you Akiko. I think any music that is written to glorify God is a good thing. Anytime you listen to words that are written for our Savior rather than the world, is positive, as I wrote earlier in the thread. I understand everyone has different music tastes, but they should not put down the others tastes. I also love P&W music, and Contemporary Christian songs.

...as for Demon Hunter, they are very hard and screamo, and not for me - but hugely popular. RED on the otherhand I think is amazing. Their song Breathe into me is great, and the guys are really playing for the right reasons. I can say i'm very blessed to know them.

Wow, I'm not realy sure i should comment on this but.......

I have been struggling with this topic since I've come to Cali, helping these teens that listen to all sorts of "Christian Music".... and i always come back to this......from a mile away can u tell if it is a Rock concert or a "Christian Rock" concert?

And does it realy Glorify God or flesh? Nothing wrong with entertainment, but to call it "Christian" I think is decietful, do we take porn and turn it into "Christian Porn"? Or gambling into "Christian Gambling"? Be honest with yourself and ask yourself do i listen to it to Glorify God or because i like it, and its close to what i listened to before i got saved! Then fine listen to it if u like it but dont say its beacuse it Glorifies God, because inreality u listen to it for your self pleasure!!!!

Ok, well Now my main question, music it's self can be an evil thing, I Have heard soft praise sounding music talk about horable things, I have heard the same in metal, But I have noticed in all music there is a message behinf it, we are human, we all have different tastes in music, I play a rang of music, I have found that all forms of music can be glorifying to God. Satan doesnt own a style, thats like that debate with peter and with eating meat in the book of acts, peters like "No thats unclean" God's like hey I made it clean, ya know. Nothing is unclean of it's self, it's us who make it unclean by how we use it. Music, thats a powerful thing, what ever kind it is, now, who gave satan ownership over rock, or metal? And if thats true, well christian music like third day and jars of clay could be concidered evil aswell, cause satan uses all forms of music, hey God does too, I have known many who where saved by listening to Christian hardcore music, reading the words and letting it into their heart. I know that music in all forms has helped me grow in the Lord, so if somthing brings us closer to the Lord, how can it be concidered evil?

Hola, Demon hunter, Gots me questioning, they have a positive message, but they dont really mention the Lord, I stopped listening to them so much cause there message was kind of dull, same with switchfoot, a band you might enjoy that has simularitys with demon hunter is Thrice, I've been hooked ont hem lately, they're actualy pretty powerful.

Very wise words Josh!

To claim that music, in and of itself, is bad or evil or to make blanket judgments about anything as being unchristian is very dangerous. It shows the puritanical, iron fisted rule that many associate with christianity and for that reason reject God out of hand. Not because they heard the message and did not believe, but because the one that delivered the message was so reprehensible in the delivery of that message. The music itself is not evil, it is merely a combination of notes and sounds, but it is the lyrics, actions, and behavoir of those making the music that make it evil and contrary to God.

Is anybody saying that if an unbeliver goes to a CCM concert, hears music that opens the heart to recieve the word, hears a sermon at the concert, and then recieves Christ, is not a TRUE christian? I sure hope not.

That is not to say that all the so-called christian bands are Godly. By no means. If you do not like that style of music then so be it, dont listen to it, but dont condemn it either. If, however, the band has a look that is not in keeping with christian morals, have lyrics that dont glorify God, or as some groups have, directly contridict scripture then by all means decry that band.
