You seem to ignore a lot of things I write so I'll keep this short. The bible shows us cases of God sending down his wrath on nations that are primarily unbelievers and sinners. There isn't one case of him sending down his wrath on a nation where such an overwhelming majority of people are innocent believers.

I haven't ignored anything you write here, Bob. But let's be realistic. The Word of God is a double edged sword, and you seem to look at it through rose colored glasses, and only see one side of the sword.

Plus the bible teaches us tolerance -

No where does God teach us to tolerate sin in the Bible. While God is a loving, kind, patient, compassionate and merciful God,

and true to His Word, without repentence and a turning away from sin, God gives stern warnings in His Word of what will happen.

It is written Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction. Gal. 6:7

My Web Blog

Again, gonna just make this quick, here's a quote from the bible (the one you don't quote, that follows "Plus the bible teaches us tolerance -" -

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Abortion is legal in more than half of the world. We're one of the few (if not only) developed nations in the world that's fighting to make abortion illegal.

Again, we are not talking about the rest of the world, we are talking about America. Our government is filled with ungodly men and women who are now and have been leading this nation into sin and rebellion against God's Word for over 40 years. One of you will say to me "Then why does God still blame us? For who resists his will?" But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?" Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?" What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath -- prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, for whom he prepared in advance for his glory-- Romans 3:19-24

Australia has the highest concentration of homosexuals in the world, they seem to be doing quite fine.

We're not talking about Austrailia, we are talking about America. America is the only nation that was founded on biblical Judeo/Christian principles and is the only nation that recognizes and has placed God in it's constitution by our founders, and God did bless this nation beyond measure

The servant who does not know his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows..From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be askedLuke 12:47

So. That does not mean that God will not send His wrath upon this nation for it's disobedience and rebellion against Him and His Word.

My Web Blog

Sadly, as an Australian, I confirm that every degree of perversity, homosexuality, child pornography, political corruption is alive and well here

We are following Americal in all the wrong things, and that is a sad testimony of a nation that was once independent

Even worse, is that Australia, America and England are probably listed in the "MOST CORRUPT NATIONS" top ten

Our politicians, whom we are responsible for electing, are sold out to lust, greed, violence, every form of evil, and that is why we are all facing a fiery judgement

Bob,

God sent his judgment on Israel many times over, not because they did not believe in God (they did), but because they chose to follow after other gods, as well. They did not make God their One and Only God. They allowed themselves to follow not only after other gods but the patterns of the world around them. They adopted the customs of people who followed after other gods.

This, I believe, is a picture, not only of America but of the Church in America. We have become too worldly and we have adopted the culture of the world even in the Church. We have forsaken our first love and God is not our One and ONly God in America and in the Church in America. We are following after the gods of this world; the gods of our stomachs. We have become apathetic to the sin condition of our nation and of the Church.

And, we follow the teachings of men more than we do the teachings of God. Case in point: Your response when I asked you where you learned methods of prayer. You learned them from the teachings of men, not from God and His Word. But, that is where you need to learn how to pray - from His Word.

I don't recall the statistics, but there are more abortions done in the USA than in the rest of the world. I think it is like 1/3 of the population of NYC that has been aborted, or something really close to that. We don't know all the things that are going on in the government, either, but God does. There is so much going on in America and in the Church in America that we don't even realize, but God does, and he is willing to show you what he sees through his eyes if you will let him show you.

You see, my knowledge of what God thinks about America does not come from my own thinking, it comes through His revealing it to me through time spent with him at his feet daily. The Bible says we have the mind of Christ, and God is willing to show us what is on his mind if we will just ask him. Why not take some time with Him and ask Him what he thinks about all of this?

Hi Sue!!

I agree on what you're saying about the church. We are so much like the world it is horrifying. That is why the un-believers do not come to Jesus, why, they can get everything they want in the world because it looks the same as the world. All this begging for money from anyone who wants to participate in what they are "SELLING". and that is what they are doing is selling what THEY believe, not what the Word says in majority of books today. I am not saying "ALL" books either, majority.

There is another post on "the pulpits" and it is speaking some truths too!

Love ya Sue :13:

Ok I went through a lot of passages and found where God lets the Midianites rule Israel for 7 years because the Israelites were worshiping the god of the Amorites (the god of the people whose land the Israelites were inhabiting.) I think that applies to us when we start worshiping the god's of the Native Americans. I don't understand what you mean when you say we follow the gods of our stomachs so I can't really reply to that.

I learned the method's of prayer from the teachings of men who have studied the word of God. Then when I find these methods I look for evidence in the bible that backs them up and I found nothing saying how to pray so these method's should be fine. If these methods are wrong, please explain why.

The U.S. has a low abortion rate compared to other countries in the world. There are a little under 23 abortions for every 1,000 women. In Vietnam (the country with the highest abortion rate) that number is 83 for every 1,000 women. I found the numbers from this website - http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/journals/2504499.html

If you truly believe I've been asking God his opinion of this nation incorrectly, please explain the proper method as I have not found it anywhere in the bible.

Bob,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I am presently pressed for time, but I'll try to get back with you on this a little later. It may be tomorrow, as I have a full schedule in front of me today.

Talk soon!

Bob,

The phrase "gods of our stomachs" refers to anything we put before God that is satisfying our own fleshly desires rather than following the desires and plans of God for our lives. It is putting our own wants above obedience to God. The term "god" can mean anything or anyone we place above our devotion to the one, true and only God.

"For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things" (Phil 3:18-19).

As far as how we should pray if we want to know God's thinking on a subject, the Bible teaches that we are to ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK which are all active words. The way you described your prayers was more passive in nature in that you thought something and felt God read your thoughts and that he placed a thought or impression on your mind, but that can be so subjective. How can you be certain it is God you are hearing?

I don't doubt that God can read our minds and that he can put his thoughts in our minds, but so many other thoughts can enter our minds as well. I don't see scripturally where this should be our general practice for communicating with God, because it is passive, rather than active. It is not seeking. It is not asking. And, it definitely is not knocking. God wants us to ask because he wants us to seek after Him. He wants to communicate with us through His Word. He desires for us to spend much time in His Word, because it is there we learn His will for our lives.

Matt 7:7-8: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

I John 3:21-22: "Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him."

I John 5:14-15: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us

To be perfectly honest I have just skimmed though this thread, so....

Does America deserve God's wrath? Proably so, we are a nation of many nations in this world that are made up of filthy rags, we all deserve His wrath... But God frorgives.

I also do not like America being defined by actions of out of control judges, Hollywood idiots or the ACLU. We are a nation of many being defined by the actions of a few who have a agenda. There are million upon millions out there in this big country who do love and seek God, but we are not being represented in the media or on the political scene.... But we are being represented by God Himself. That is why I think that this country is being blessed; dispite ourselves; dispite our representation and dispite the agendas of those who hatefully shudder agianst Christianity and God's Word.

The turmoil in this country has been caused by ourselves and the actions of a few, not God. Dispite everything, we have not been attcked again by terrorists [although, it may be coming].

Dispite everything we still have a strong economy, after all the out-sourcing, NAFTA, and cheap manufacturing in other countries, giving jobs away... After all that this government has given away, we are still making it...

Dispite the death wish in this modern era of abortion, drug abuse, euthanasia and so on, dispite of all of that miracles still do happen! People are still healed, delivered and blessed by God's grace....

And dispite those who wish to rewrite the Bible to accomodate their fleshy desires... Dispite those who preach that sin is okay and have twisted the Word; dispite of all of that God still speaks to the hearts of men. He is still present in those 'church' buildings of those who have turned their backs on Him. He is still present to work on the hearts of those who have been misled.

Our nation was built upon Biblical principals by a large group of God fearing men who represented the majority of God fearing people. Those principals [our constitution] still stand today dispite those few who would love to destroy it for thier own agendas, their own power... Yes, even with all the horrendous actions taking place, I still believe that God is with this nation and is trying His hardest to protect us from ourselves... From those few fellow Americans in this country who would rejoice in it's destruction.

Although we may have to scrape off the scum to see it, God's Blessings are still very present in this country.

quote bob dole: "Australia has the highest concentration of homosexuals in the world, they seem to be doing quite fine."

You must not be paying enough attention to world news. Australia is suffering the worst drought and famine the continent has seen in over a thousand years. (Coincidence) or a "God Wink"?
