Yes, this is a tragic situation, where people confessing Christianity are sepreated from each other by denominational doctrines What we need consider is what GOD says about the situation and HE is specific in HIS requirements for HIS children to be LIKEMINDED. It is a prophetical book, but only prophesied about the fall of Jerusalem, NOT a rapture. The fall of Jerusalem happened in AD 70. The rapture was created by John Darby, in the civil war era. He then taught it to Schofield, a scholar a the time, who then put notes of the rapture in a bible he revised called the Schofield Study Bible. After the civil war, when the industrial revolution started, he found he could mass produce this bible and send it across america faster than before. That's how the rapture spread. Revelation was never meant to be read as a prophesy about the end of time and space, and it defenitely has nothing to do with Americans. I am surely not one for putting others down, but wasn't it Jesus who said unto the Pharisees and Saducees "Oh ye generation of vipers, HYPOCRITES".... They were false teachers and Christ called them out on it.... Why shouldn't a pastor stand up against false teaching? There are many things I would have not learned about otherwise, and as a young Christian, easily swayed when they came my way.... If a pastor is supposed to stand up and call sin "sin", then why can't a pastor stand up and say that a particular religion is preaching false doctrine? Alright, perfect example (again, not meant for debate): tongues. I am completely against the pentacostal/charismatic/ whatever it is that beleives in speaking in tongues. I dont mean for that to be offensive, I have been just told there are major differences.. but you know? My x-boyfriend is pentacostal and I met him about the same time my pastor was preaching on tongues.... and my old boyfriend and I started discussing it... Now I know many on here believe that tongues is for churches today, and I don't. For those who believe, you'd want a pastor saying that to say tongues is not for today, that that pastor is in error. My pastor doesn't talk about denominations normally (actually, I can't recall it), but I know he stands up and talks about cults and how they are teaching false doctrines! If it is acceptable for a "cult", then why isn't it acceptable for any other religion or denomination that teaches false doctrine? Just a thought.... false doctrine is false doctrine.... Having observed the responses to a question regarding use of the "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" in Christian ordinances and prayer we need establish the differences betwixt a NAME and TITLE Father is a title, it is NOT a name Son is a title, it is NOT a name Holy Spirit is a title, not a name What Scripture instructs us to do is use the NAME of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as Paul states, "and what ever you do in word or deed , DO ALL in the name of the Lord Jesus.."Col.3:17 One suggests this ALL includes water baptism, marriage, burial, prayer, casting out of demons, etc., and there is no historical record of anything but the NAME of the Lord Jesus Christ being used in the Christian church before 325 a.d. NAME: "word by which individual person, animal, place, thing is spoken of or to; TITLE:"Personal appelation, heriditary or not, denoting or implying office or nobility" As there is only ONE GOD, we need know HIS NAME The Lord Jesus was the "express image" of GOD, Heb.1:3; and He came in His Father's NAME, Jn.5:43; therefore we can deduce that the NAME, Lord Jesus Christ, is the one we are required to use in all things to do with GOD, can't we?
