Mostly grew up on the NIV I believe, some use of KJV and then on my own I went over to the NLT but now I'm mostly going back to the first two. I'd like to look at other translations, even newer versions that I've seen which promise accurate translations of the original Hebrew or even Aramic words. But the NLT I've found kind of adds somewhat to the verses, unless I was highly mistaken, and so the translation is also very much in quite contemporary language, which is the purpose but it actually has gotten me to cross-reference more too.

Why are there so many differenf Bibles out there?

Some people say for easier reading.

But I tend to believe it's the devil's way of twisting scripture.

Just my opinion.

My personal pref. .... NKJV.

I agree! :24:

The devil will use any tactic he can to twist scripture.

I too prefer NKJV.

Yes, I voted.

There are some versions I won't use. Depending on what i am studying determines in many cases which versions i do use. I use the KJV becasue it is the most common when i am dealing with people. However, in preparing, i use about 8 different versions. I do like YLT and the Analytical Translations because i am in no way a Hebrew or Greek Scholar and along with several dictionaries BDB, and Strongs find it easier to understand the meanings.

Long explanation to say why i chose other.
