What constitutes porn? Is a picture of a naked woman on the net any different then the same picture in a medical book?

Egads!

I teach Anatomy labs, so I can tell you what makes Anatomy textbooks different.

For one - body position and facial expression. Naked bodies in anatomy books are positioned for the purpose of identifying parts and facial expressions are stone cold. There is nothing alluring or sexually appealing or enticing about them.

Second - intent. Porn is meant to arouse sexual desires. Anatomy is meant to teach you body parts. Believe me, by the time you get to the reproductive system, all you see is more nasty parts to memorize! By the time the test is over, naked bodies mean nothing to you.

I actually think a solution to porn addiction would be to force the person to take both semesters of Anatomy and Physiology in college, and the person has to pass with an A or retake the course until passed with an A. By the time the A is achieved, he will never want to see another naked body ever again.

This is an excellent and well thought out response. ... and right on the mark.

Anytime the human body is used and expressed in such a way so as to induce lust in the receiver of the images, it's porn. There is a difference between appreciating

beauty... Nude art for instance, in my opinion, isn't "porn"... it's not disgusting raunchy filth designed to stir up lust in your spirit that will eventually consume and

destroy you. (Well, ok, im talking about classic type of art here, not some of the disgusting things we have today that we call "art")... Basically, the key element

is lust.

THE INTENT! I'm hoping we're all intelligent, people here with the right morals and not just looking for excuses or examples to allow us to "get by" with what we know God abhors. Let me put it another way. When you doubt whatever you're doing is right or wrong.......RUN IT BY GOD. Satan already knows if it's wrong. YOU SHOULD TOO!

If you feel uneasy when looking at something you had questions about looking at, it's your conscience telling you it's wrong to look at it. Everything we see with our eyes is planted in our minds forever, whether we want it there or not. If you believe the devil will not use this to his advantage, you are sadly mistaken. You can have the worst memory recorded in history but, when you least expect it, the memories of things you'd rather forget will serve the devil's purposes to corrupt your train of thought. The less filth you put in there, the less he has to work with, the better the reception from God's Word.

I paint and I love looking at other artists work but I have made some changes, since coming back to God, in what I will allow into my mind and what I will not. I don't believe it is ok to view nudity, even artistically. It dulls your conscience in the area of sexual immorality and opens a doorway to the sin of lust, even if not at first. In fact, rarely at first. Sin always begins small and seemingly innocent.
