UPDATE: US Intelligence Official:People Must Redefine Privacy

like I said...it's too late.

That genie won't go back in the bottle. It's only a matter of time before the system is abused and a fascist society of Orwelian proportion comes into being.

It's not possible to stop reality.

Now that really is defeatist!

If something's worth having it is worth fighting for! Privacy is worth fighting for. If the "founding fathers" were alive today what would they say?

Yeah, get out there and fight!

I write letters and emails to our government over anything and everything that concerns me (that is everything, and what doesn't concern me now, I figure soon will concern me or my children etc.) In America you could write to your congressman AND not comply when faced with something (like the "real id act - there is an article about it on "Am. news"). After years of "buckingthesystem" I have discovered that there are ways round just about everything.

Just say "No, I will not have my privacy compromised", and that stance will soon "catch on".

Your head is in the sand! I don't like the situation but it is reality

can we retroactively make Socialism disappear? Can we make the China go away? No, we can't...and why? Because they exist already.

Same thing. The ability to remain anonymous is gone at the moment someone with access to modern technology wants to know who you are. I don't like it any more than you do but it IS reality.

they would say "Oi veh!....it's too late!"

then they know you a lot better than they know me

Let's also say, "I don't like gravity" and see how far that gets us into the air~!

This thread is a good example of why America is going down so fast. The Dems and Reps have the same agenda....control over US. If they keep us arguing Rep vs. Dem we pay less attention and take less steps to stop them.

The only chance we have is to stop being Republicans and Democrats and to become Americans.

I agree. We are focused on the wrong things. Our attention as a nation has been diverted. Our government, legally, has taken way more control over us than the forefathers ever intended. And most of us have no clue that's true.

Privacy! The right to remain anonymous! It is absolutely essential for our mental health and wellbeing!

I came across a "letter to the editor" in the "East London Advertiser" - the online version. This is a UK paper, but it may as well just as easily be referring to America and the "real ID" situation. Firstly everybody has to realise how vital privacy actually is and how serious this horrible global attempt to undermine it is, and the urgence with which we must defeat these things at all costs, is. Here's the letter:

http://www.eastlondonadvertiser.co.uk/cont...3A49%3A22%3A937

We can't change our fingerprints if our ID data is stolen

WHEN, not if, the projected national ID cards database is leaked, it will make the HMRC 'lost data disc' scandal seem trivial.

The ID scheme is designed to move data between government departments. That is what 'identity management' means to this government... them managing our identity for their convenience and with utter contempt for our privacy.

Once all our personal information is captured under Home Office control, it could end up anywhere. It just cannot be secured.

Adding fingerprints to other confidential details will not secure the information that is on the ID database. Officials will not be using our fingerprint to unlock the information to pass it around. Biometrics will just make stolen data more valuable.

And when breaches DO happen, we won't be able to change our 'fingers' like we can an account number.

We must stop the Government's database madness.

If the "founding fathers" were alive today what would they say?

I suppose they would find some monetary value in Mexico...they would set up peaceful alliances with Mexican people...then slaughter them all and take their lands and excuse it by saying they weren't human anyways. And if they could fatten their pocketbooks by spying on people I'm sure they would have done that too.

The founding fathers were the authors of "Do as I say...not as I do."
