Mike Huckabee yesterday continued to move to the right on immigration during this year's presidential campaign, signing a pledge to enforce immigration laws and to make all illegal aliens go home. http://www.worthynews.com/news/washingtont...213689491-1001/

I doubt it. It's more double talk IMO.
Guest LadyC
that's not doubletalk, it's common sense, and is exactly what i've ALWAYS felt should be done. would you rather the parents be sent back while their children were placed in foster homes? the child's place is with the parents. if the parents aren't supposed to be here, they should be given a one way ticket home, and be afforded the GENEROUS priviledge of being ALLOWED to take their children with them. From article: ". . .The law's only been in effect for 15 days, and already legislators from Sonora, Mexico, are traveling to Phoenix to do the welfare two-step with their Arizona counterparts. . ." http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article....RTICLE_ID=59731 The rest of the U.S. needs to follow Nevada's precedent. You miss my point. He changed his position on birthright citizenship for illegals but he fully supports sending the entire family back where they came. If he is in favor of deporting them then why should the child's' citizenship matter? This would still allow them to return, when they reach the proper age, to resume leaching off the government. One of my coworkers complained this morning that his daughter couldn't get into the state college but that the "Mexicans" that live across the street, both the father and the daughter, attend the college free of charge. I understand where he is coming from.
Guest LadyC
danny, my initial position (of total agreement with that) changed also when someone pointed out that birthright citizenship is constitutionally guaranteed. deporting the entire family would actually be more beneficial anyway, because it gets more illegals back across the border. and in today's social climate, might be easier to enforce such laws than to try and pass a constitutional ammendment on the issue. so i don't see his comment as a reversal of his opinion rather than a revision of an opinion based on the wisdom of knowing that his first idea would probably never pass the mustard. that's a smart man.
