Again...i'm failing to see the difference between a drunk driver killing someone, and a woman having an abortion. A loss of life has occured..due to sin.

1. You don't know the difference between manslaughter and murder? :emot-pray:

2. To say that premarital sex led to an abortion is a false premise. The premarital sex led to preganancy.

3. Abortion is not a consequence. It is an act in and of itself.

1. I didn't know that the Bible said ...thou shall not commit manslaughter. This is how we get caught up. We slam our Bibles open showing ...thou shall not kill...when it comes to abortion. But, as my example shows, men view killing on two different planes. Either we call it what it is or we make it what we want...we cant have it both ways. Just as there was a downgrade in this hypothetical loss of life in my example...people have downgraded the loss of life that happens from an abortion.

The Scripture actually says, "Though shalt not murder." You have to look up the Hebrew in order to see this. If all forms of killing were sinful, then how do you account for the Lord telling his people to kill their enemies? And why would the Lord have established Cities of Refuge for those who accidentally killed another?

2. How is abortion not a result of premaritial sex? Often premarital sex leads to preganancy, and the preganancy leads to abortion. What is false about that?

Because married women who get pregnant by their husbands also have abortions. Whose sin is this child dying for?

And I disagree that "pregnancy leads to abortion." Abortion is not an if-then consequence. It is a choice. It is no different than what Casey Anthony did to her daughter, Caylee.

3. I do agree that abortion is an act in itself, but it is also a result of other things.

That's like saying if a man robbed you, and you sought after the guy and then slit his throat so that he died, that the thief's death was his own consequence and not on your head.

~~

Now I'm going to add two more:

4. If death was the consequence of sin, who's dying every time someone lies, or someone commits idolatry, or a child dishonors their parents, or someone covets?

5. When you stand before the throne of the Lord, do you suppose He'll accept "abortion is just the wage of sin" as an excuse? Who is the Judge? You? The mother and/or father?

Should a mother or father be the judge of their own sin by sacrificing their child to pay the price for their sin? Is that not child sacrifice?

ya know, i remember in my senior government class in hi school learning about voting and whatnot. my teacher was strongly urging us to take advantage of the right we have in this country to vote. she talked about people using this very excuse for not voting, and then she told us of some country (i don't remember which country and i haven't a clue how to look it up) that, when they finally obtained the right to vote, had a voter turnout rate of something like 96-98 percent--and there was only one name on the ballot. they didn't vote because they had a "good" candidate to vote for. they had no options; it was what it was. they voted simply because they were thrilled and excited about having the privilege to do so.

i don't think there is any good excuse for not voting. there are many privileges we have living in America that we take for granted. i believe the electorial process and our voice in government is probably one of the biggest. (and we may be paying the price right now for taking it for granted!) i wonder how different our government would be if we had a 96% voter turnout rate? maybe the same; maybe radically different. i for one, would love to find out, though.

however, i still say that every American citizen has the right to voice their opinion (and yes, complain) about the government whether they vote or not.

I reiterate that there used to be no good reason not to vote but those days are gone. Look back at the lineup (interesting mental image) running in the primaries a year ago and you will see what I mean. We're becoming like the country you mentioned (I believe it was Saddam's Iraq) with only one party to vote for. So, if you don't like that party, then what do you do? Vote for them anyway?

Last election, I wrote "Christ Jesus" as a write-in.

Hey - I still voted!

If Barack Obama publicly says, "I pray to Jesus" but secretly prays to Allah ... what are you going to do about it? You either take him at his word or refuse to take him at his word. If it turns out he really was a Secret-Muslim-Socialist-Antichrist-Nazi after all and takes that horrible secret to his grave, God will deal with him.

I hope yall understand I'm only 28, I was actually just allowed to vote 10, almost 11 years ago. Well, this is what happened. i joined the military at 18. Went to Germany as my first duty station. Never got one of those ballots that soldiers are suppose to get when there are away from home. So didnt get to vote in 2000. My first real experience voting came in 02 in Georgia, I then voted in 04. I stopped voting after that. I would also like to add, that being a young black man I have heard it all for not voting. My reply is exactly the same. It is not madated. I guess I should always sit in the front of the bus too.

You're black, Ruck? You've been here, what, two years or so and I didn't know that! I always pictured you as a 'Brad';a really serious follower of the Lord. Oh well, it's irrelevant anyway but it's nice to know we have at least ONE black member. Maybe we're making progress! But now I'm confused about your not voting....weren't you happy that a black man was running and making history? I don't get it.

(Maybe we have more black members.....you think? :whistling: )

Your 28 years old, I thought you said you had twenty years in the corp., I must of been mistaken, my bad. Ruck in your last quote it sounds like you are throwing the race card in. In Iraq I was a platoon sergeant and I had soldiers in every color of skin accept green, purple and orange, Your black-I'm white, big deal. Our blood still bleeds red, white and blue in the sand. So don't you dare throw that race card in because I'm not buying it, were all the same in God's eyes.

I'm still standing fast on the not voting issue, it is a dishonor to all my brothers in desert cammo. that died for our freedom, Specially you Ruck because you wore the uniform, why don't you just spit on the graves of our brothers and sisters whom paid so dearly for our freedom. If I had a mind set like yours, I would be ashamed to call myself a Marine.

I don't see any race card being thrown in here. If there was any of that I might have known Ruck was black a long time ago! In today's political climate no one is dishonoring anybody by not voting; in fact, just voting to say you voted is not an exercise in good citizenship either. McCain/Obama/Clinton/Biden/Dodd/Guiliani/Romney/Edwards......oh yeah; there's a choice for you!

Btw; you're thinking of another poster who just retired with 20 years in the Marines.
