You'd be surprised how much better things seem when the constant negative comments are not streaming in from every station, news page or internet site. I don't mean become a hermit, but maybe hermits don't have it so bad afterall. Get outside. Grow a garden. Fly a kite. Go fishing. Do something simple and pleasing to do that gives you something to look forward too, no matter how small it may seem. Even an ant bed or a blade of grass can hold a reminder of God's promises... If we're quiet enough and open enough to hear it. Focus on the good and you'll find it all around you. Focus on the bad and you can find that too. This question invites opinion. True you can fly kites all day and go outside (you need a license to fish). But if you take a look at the future of our republic you'll see it is not the constitutional one that was founded. It was set up as a Constitutional republic to protect our freedom from the government. It seems as if very few are aware of this and very few want to understand. And even fewer find this troubling. This reinforces my belief that this all is occuring. Because it can and people won't even acknowledge it, or outright disclaim it without knowledge or understanding. As a nation public schooling has dumbed us down by not teaching law or the constitution so we can recognize signs of a police state and fascism and how to prevent it while knowing how to protect our rights and liberties and to know what they even are and why they exist. I'm not saying America doesnt have problems. All countries do. Why is it that it is acceptable to belittle America and totally disregard all the good we have done? Let me ask this question. If you just change the country, to say Israel,in these posts, wouldn't this thread be closed for anti semitism? Or change the name of the country to Africa, would this thread be considered racist? Why is America such an accepted target? Such generalizations are not fair to make. Not ALL Americans are spoiled, not ALL Americans didnt have to fight for freedoms, not all Americans are arrogant. We are a HUGE Christian nation. We are a generous nation. We give more aid and money than any other country. We are the first ones there in a disaster to help. We are even trying to figure a way to help myanmar citizens when their government flatly refuses any help from us. We are a praying nation. We are a hard working and inventive nation. Anyone can succeed here, no matter what their race,age, education level or religion. We are a compassionate nation always researching new cures and procedures for medical problems. We are a God fearing nation. We are a missionary country. You cant judge us by what you see on t.v. or what you see from politicians and hollywood. What makes us exceptional is the people in the heart of America. The people who work hard during the week, and go to Church on Sundays. The people who stop on the side of the road for women with car troubles. The people who bring dinner over to a neighbor who has been sick. The people who have bake sales to raise money for house fire victims. The people who donate blood regularly. The people who donate organs to complete strangers without expecting even a thank you. The people who make the most of the blessings God has given them and not expect handouts from the government. The people who value life and freedom in all forms. The people who stand when the flag is raised. The people who put their hand on their heart during the pledge and get teary eyed when they sing the national anthem. It's fine to love your country and be proud of your accomplishments, but it tends to leave a bad taste in some peoples mouths when a lot of Americans like to spew how much better America is than everybody else. I'm not saying all Americans are like that , but there are plenty of posts on Worthyboards that reflect exactly that attitude.
