Israeli Role in Colombian Rescue

CBNNews.com

July 4, 2008

CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Former Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt walks freely today, thanks in part to Israel.

Betancourt was released Wednesday along with 14 other hostages, after six years of captivity in the Colombian jungle.

"I am unaware of a precedent to such a perfect mission," Betancourt said after her rescue.

"Maybe only the Israelis...their wonderful commandos may be reminiscent of the mission that took place here," she said.

Israel's involvement in the operation began a year and a half ago when Colombia asked Israel for help against FARC, the Marxist rebels who kidnapped Betancourt in 2002.

interesting  i have been following the story closely as my daughter is in Columbia now and have not seen the regular press show this yet. her fiancee is Columbian and they are visiting his dad. i am very concerned however that the FARC rebels backed by Venezula will retaliate in order to try and gain fear prestige from this huge success for the people of Columbia . reading this:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080705/ts_nm/...IzeDiIeeJp34T0D

i would appreciate prayer for safety for daughter and fiancee till they are safely home on the 13th as they are in Bogota.

and that the Columbians are freed from the terror this group has caused for years. there are still about 700 hostages held by them.

love your sister in Christ,

Rebekah David

edited to add i do believe the report nebula posted just sad other news sources did not see it noteworthy
