  1. ... So a guy with mental issues finds "religion" and kills some people? This isn't news. Unstable people join cults and do stupid things all the time. OK ... when was the last time a radical Muslim convert killed an American soldier in the US? News to me. You've completely missed the point. It's not the particular circumstances that are important.
  2. I meant no disrespect, it just seemed odd.

  4. Or perhaps a wealthy conservative Christian autocracy has been "pushing the envelope" in its efforts to assert moral authority.
  5. I wouldn't go looking to YouTube as any sort of standard of human morality, or Christian morality. It's just another element of Satan's attraction, distraction, and usurpation. This is why we forbid YouTube links on Worthy. I have never understood this strategy. Isolation produces ignorant intolerance, not moral superiority.
  6. Morality, in decline or otherwise, is subjective.
  7. There Is Only One (...) Love, Your Brother Joe Is It Absolutely Necessary To Capitalize Everything?
  8. I guess you're not an American. Well, we care, for starters. What gives you the idea that we don't know what we're talking about? And from what blog did you cut and paste your elitist, pseudo European spiel? "Elitist psuedo European spiel?" I made an argument against the wealthy owning and controlling everything so therefore I'm an elitist?
  9. Which is inevitable in any socio-economic paradigm. What is at issue is how much government controls. Show me one single case in which Marxist philosophy has worked for the benefit of all equally. "Which is inevitable in any socio-economic paradigm." Exactly. I don't believe there is a case where Marxist philosophy has worked for the benefit of all, nor do I believe that it ever could. My point is that class division and the subsequent exploitation of the proletarian has virtually nothing to do with economic or political philosophy.
  10. ...What? Buddhist philosophy is inherently esoteric. Darwin's views are not parallel. In Tibetan Buddhism, compassion is a keystone -- once you move past the "self" and embrace the idea of emptiness, suffering is no longer "mine" or "yours," it is simply suffering, and thus all suffering is felt by the individual -- so you work to alleviate suffering in general. Working to alleviate suffering is suffering.
  11. Talking Jesus Talking Freedom The Truth (...) Love, Joe Um... "What's with everyone having such strong feelings about politico-economic issues but not having any idea what they're talking about?"

  13. *sigh* Descent into Marxism? Who cares? The proletariat is exploited by the bourgeoisie; the implementation of any given economic political theory is entirely irrelevant to the reality of class division. What's with everyone having such strong feelings about politico-economic issues but not having any idea what they're talking about?
  14. I think I agree, but that aside, what do you think in general about the likelihood of life existing elsewhere? My response is in haste, however... The probability of existence of extraterrestrial life is dependent upon our presumptions regarding infinity. Yes. "Yes." ...what? Without useful input, I can't be expected to reach reasonable conclusions, can I?

  16. Mathematically derived evidence is dependent on unattainable precision. The conclusions presented are specious, at best.
  17. It's easy to overlook the overwhelming scope of this subject. Is it so easily delimited? First consider the nature of omnipotence.
