  1. It wasn't JUST for the sake of the sinner but also to set an example. They were set on display for all to see so they would know what they faced if they broke the law. Where Jesus was concerned, only such a public would do as the more witnesses the better.
  2. At this point I'm for Romney and maybe we'll get lucky and he'll find a worthy running mate.
  3. Islam and its followers apparently suffer from a superiority complex. They feel that they are the only ones that should be able to evangelize. Clearly, they understand that the most effective method of conversion to Islam is with threats and violence because most people, given a choice, would chose a God of love and compassion. Islam reminds me of the Mafia and how their secrets are so dark that they cannot allow any to leave with such knowledge. On another note, considering Egypt is supposedly a "Muslim" country, why do you suppose they refuse to take the Palestinians in? I don't mean all of them but you would think after all the "oppression" the Palestinians suffer they would be eager to move to another nation. I know I would under those circumstances.
  4. I believe Australia is friendly with Israel but I am not sure about any alliances. I am surprised to hear about Germany to be honest but stranger things have happened. I wouldn't be surprised if a few soviet states also looked on Israel favorably. On a whole I would say that the world in general has a very negative opinion of Israel. However, this negative opinion has been foretold and will serve to amplify Gods glory when the battle is over. No point will ever have been driven home with such resounding authority as when Jesus returns and defeats Satan and all those foolish enough to follow him.
  5. It's nice to see some of these secular jabs at Christianity backfire. We Christians really should speak out about these sorts of attacks and make it abundantly clear that the media takes great risks when they disrespect Christianity.
  6. While I do not believe it would be anyones business and need not be discussed it would a leap of faith to share such testimony with the congregation. I do believe that such testimony would be most helpful in witnessing to homosexuals in their own struggle for salvation. 'O'Dannyboy' I agree with you, what I meant by the question you quote is what caution if any would you use. How could you keep it from looking like probation or suspicion? I think I understand what you were asking now. That's a good question. I guess all you can do is to be as welcoming and accepting as you can be. Most people might feel as though they are in probation despite how nice everyone is to them. Untill they become comfortable with their surroundings and have made a few friends they will likely feel out of place. I guess as long as their manorisms aren't too obvious then there should be no reason why they should think people might suspect anything. I guess the pastor could always give a sermon on rumors and how spreading them is to bare false witness and so on.
  7. Do you mean from the newly saved persons perspective? It would be hard to hide any doubts one might have but it should be expressed to the newly saved that this is something he/she will not be going through alone. At first I thought it might be good for them to share their salvation experience with the congregation and together they could help the newly saved overcome any fears of prejudice in one fell swoop. Admitting ones sins need not be a community affair though. As others have pointed out, our sins are between us and God and you need not admit them to anyone outside of those whose opinions matter most, such as your pastor, sister, brother, father or mother. Obviously such a person would be invaluable when offering testimony to those whose sins are comparable but not at the risk of having the congregation alienate them.
  8. I can't help but sympathize with the people in Gaza. Neither Egypt or Israel seems to want anything to do with them and yet these people need to live. That being said, the people of Gaza need to do something about the terrorists if they want a better life. As long as Gazas major export remains violence they will continue to live in squalor and dependent on aid to survive.
  9. I don't understand how these governments can "crack down" on Christians and their leaders as if they were criminals. I would like to know what threat these governments perceive Christians to be. They gather to worship and they help each other to better themselves and their communities. I am confused how any government can see Christians as a danger. They only threat I can think of is that Christians will resist totalitarianism but outside of this Christians are pretty compliant.

  11. Thats not what I was saying. What I meant was that just when you think you got the fire under control another breaks out elsewhere. We do have to wonder whether we are getting bang enough for our bucks though. It seems that at best we are providing them closer targets, while effective, we don't seem to be killing enough of them. They're like cockroaches and breed faster than we can find and kill them.
  12. If they held any caucus he in Louisiana I was not aware.
  13. Just another money pit for our government to shovel our tax dollars in to fighting the war on terror.
  14. Not surprising at all that he would think this. The Muslim world will be ecstatic when the Anti-Christ shows up and starts pushing towards "one-world" this and that knowing that there will eventually have to be a headpiece. What the world wont know is how many horns this headpiece will have.
  15. It will only get more interesting as former candidates are now considered for vice presidential running mates.
  16. I'm sorry to say, but this has been Israels problem from the start. Too much time and effort has been made to cut the Palestinians off from the rest of the world. I can see, to some degree, why the Palestinians harbor so much hatred against Israel. If Israel positions itself as the sole provider for the Palestinians then they have to be willing to accept the responsibility of the welfare and well being of the people. While I support Israel, I would not approve of Israel keeping the Palestinians under boot for the sake of monitoring a few borders. From the way it sounds Israel is the reason the Palestinians have not fled successfully to other countries. The Palestinians should be able to move freely across the borders to other nations provided they are not bringing weapons back and forth.
  17. No matter what Israel does to defend itself they are accused of excessive force or human rights violations. They can't seem to get a break and it seems that very few people in this world seem to care enough to get Israels perspective on things.
  18. Perhaps. But when gaged against infinity these scientists know about as much as I do. The point I was trying to make is that only God deals in infinites. These scientists are postulating about alternative universes and universal theories meant to explain everything. I may know next to nothing about these subjects but I promise you they know little more than I do. If they believed in God they might be closer than they know to understanding why their math fails to explain everything. I find it humorous that they could possibly believe they could explain or discover such monumental things without first believing there is a God.
  19. I just found myself watching the Science channel. I love exploratiion and thoughts that challenge our perceptions. Tonights program started out discussing alternate universes and efforts to form a universal theory. The program spoke of String theory and the "big bang" theory and how they might be corelated to each other. I find it interesting how math is used to explain everything. As the scientific community crunched the numbers they found just as they thought they had it all figured out, the math basically crumbled right beneath them. I'm not sure why but this made me chuckle. I began to consider why people would even attempt calculations that involved infinity. It seems futile at best. As I figure, the only being in the universe/s that can manipulate infinity is God. For the rest of us it is beyond our abilites and comprehension. Math shows us that infinity exists but we have no practical use for it, even as a reference. I can't help but think that in all their searching they would be led to the conclusion that many have found without taking the long route. There is a God, The Alpha and Omega, and it is he who created all of this and they are trying to figure out, on their own, what only God can explain. I'm not saying science doesn't have it's place by any means. I simply think there are some things best left in Gods hands and that which he has given us to explore and in his time will we be given understanding of things beyond our sphere of influence. In mans efforts to explain the universe they miss the big picture. They cant see the trees for sake of the forest. How can we possibly understand the universe before we fully understand ourselves and overcome our own nature?
  20. Did you write that or are you quoting someone?
  21. I used to have a myspace page. At first it seemed like it had potential but as time went on they didn't seem to be doing enough to regulate predators and I was constantly getting friend requests from myspace pages that redirect to pornography sites and so on. Myspace didn't even have a meathod to turn them in or to block them. Even now the scammers seem to target single adult Christian males because they seem to be so trusting.
  22. I curious why he thinks it was "White America" that killed MLK? Why should I feel guilty for the actions of some other "white guy". Does this johnson character feel guilty every time one black person kills another or would he also blame this on "White America"? While he is at it he may as well jump on the band wagon and blame it on Bush. In the end it's making excuses for not living up to ones own potential and deep down resenting the color of their own skin feeling that it obligates them to act in a certain way or expect to be treated a certain way. Perhaps if this man were able to look passed the end of his own nose he would realise that the world isn't half as fixated on his skin color as he is himself. I once heard it said that people insult and talk negatively of other people to make themselves feel better about their own failings. Perhaps this is Mr. Johnsons way of dealing with the guilt of his own failures. By placing the blame on someone else.
  23. All thanks to some greedy underhanded lending institutions who did a bait and switch on millions of homebuyers. What did they expect to happen when millions of people are suddenly unable to make their house notes? I understand that these people knew what they were doing when they signed the mortgage but that doesn't excuse the lenders from conceiving such a half baked and greedy trap. The lenders will get their money and at the expense of all those they duped. Meanwhile they have thrown a wrench in the machine which has caused many people to become thrifty spenders and in turn has caused investors to be more shrewd as well. If they are going to do something with that stimulous package, they better do is soon. This stimulous package could, however, set tax returns back as far as the end of summer, which could also hurt the economy if they don't kick it into gear.
