I realize I shouldn't get into these "discussions" but small-minded people just frustrate me so! And, I brought up the fact that several non-Christian religions shun (or worse) homosexuals. I guess they just argue for the sake of arguing. I always ask God for patience; this is apparently a situation where I can use it.

A person on another board (non-religious) mentioned the incident where some college kid was secretly filmed with another boy in a homosexual activity. The film was put onto YouTube and, sadly, the one boy committed suicide. A terrible thing on all counts. My problem is, this person on the other board somehow managed to place Christianity at fault. Nowhere in the Washington Post article did it make any reference to Christianity. Their rationale is that because "Christianity has demonized homosexuality for centuries" it caused the kid who filmed the act to hate the other boy. If this isn't the most outrageous "logic" I don't know what is! I haven't had any luck in making these bigots understand and I'm very frustrated. Anyone here have any good ideas I can use to wake these bozos up?

Praying for rain on your beautiful country. Can we send bottled water?

It's questions like these that require one of two answers: Why not? Because He's God. I get hit with stuff like that almost every day. I find that anyone who would ask questions like that doesn't actually expect or want a reply. I feel sad for them.

In college I took a Statistics course. The only thing I learned that I remember to this day is that statistics can be skewed to back up any point of view you want. That was the point when I stopped paying attention to statistics.

You're pretty smart (for a dame). Want a job in my coming administration? Don't be naive.....it's my aim to replace you on the ticket...... Who would vote for a drooling chick with a Poodles brain? The same ones who WOULD HAVE voted for you....had you not had to drop out due to 'unforeseen events.' Well, well, weeeeeeeelll. Widdle MorningGlory wants to play hardball, aye? Gee, Wyguy. I would've thought you were better looking than that!

Great piece. I do sorely miss Mr. C. Sense. I believe my neck problems stem from shaking my head when seeing things like a brand-new sidewalk being torn up to put in a new water line.

Great list. If only I could remember it!!

Doormat is actually matador sideways! Almost.

We're taught that we're created in His image. Somehow I don't envision God as having "human" form. Rather I have a vision of Him as vaguely formed like us, but more ethereal and full of light, beautiful to see, eminating love for us. Wow, this is tougher than I thought to put into words.

I'm sure he's asking God to help him bear the weight. He's been going through this mess for a couple years and I'm equally sure that he's getting worn out. As for pride, well I can't argue because it's at least partly true, but the reason behind the pride is based in old Southern principles. I'm looking into some legal help but if it's true that he can't fix the problem with the lawsuit, he's going to be crushed. I guess prayer is our best hope.

That would be great but he's not the "helping" type. I'm working on him, but he's resistant. Right now I'm trying to find some lawyers who might know how to handle his problem. He's told me he doesn't eat right and he's exhausted. Even if he'd let me go food shopping for him, but he's the opposite of my hubby - he finds it difficult to accept help.

A good friend, my best friend, has far more problems than any God-loving, God-fearing man should have. In the past 3 months he's lost both his parents. In addition, there's a lawsuit against property his parents owned to the tune of $250,000, because some form sent by a lawyer wasn't filed in time and they're now telling my friend that they're going to take the property. This is property which has been in his family since before the Civil War. His only sibling, a brother, is an alcoholic and is in a treatment center. This man is the one who helped me find Jesus. He is kind, unassuming and the most devout Christian I've ever met. I want to help him, but it might not appear "correct" (I'm married, he isn't). I've been praying for guidance.

Good one, LadyPT!! Fez, that water looks amazing. Praying that it comes back soon. I know He will give us the rain when we really need it. He always has.

I get the symbolism in the painting, but Jesus holding the Declaration of Independence? Rather disconcerting. Gives me the image of our Saviour going from nation to nation, posing for paintings while holding say, the Magna Carta or the Diet of Worms.

Continuing the metaphors: Would you trust a cop who openly committed crimes? I think the Bible is pretty clear on this subject. And a church leader would be setting a very bad example (on so many levels) if he or she "came out of the pulpit" (so to speak).

Rain yet? Here neither. How's South?

Fez, I love your posts! You could compile a book of them! I'm praying for your water right along with ours. The trees here are going into early hibernation due to the lack of rain. And all lawns are a lovely shade of dead!

Very neat! And, yeah, when you think that He loves each of us little specks in the midst of all that wonder, it's pretty amazing!

Israel is beeyoootiful! I hope you two have many wonderful years together.

I agree, KatyAnn. As long as it's not obscene, it's not up to government to dictate. What do they think these women could conceal under the veil? (I know, computer facial recognition. But, really?)

I have a friend who is a lawyer. I gave her a sketchy outline of your situation and she said: If your dad gave control of his affairs to your brother, the only thing you might be able to do is to get an uninvolved third party (i.e. a non-family member) to act as mediator between you and your brother. They should say that your objective is to just be kept informed of your dad's status through this mediator. If your brother does not have "official" control of your dad's affairs, that could be a different story, but my friend and I didn't go that far. I hope this helps in some way.

You mean they have given the hospital, in effect, a list of people who are allowed to speak with or get information on your father? It makes me upset to think that they are in total control of the situation. I mean, how much would it take out of them to give you a status in 25 words or less? There must be a way. I have a lawyer friend - I'll ask her next time I see her. She may not know the answers because she's in a different field of law, but maybe she knows someone. Meanwhile, keep praying. As will I.

That was truly the best inspirational talk I've heard in a long time! I guess it is time to get off my excuses and get out and do something.

Ok, dentures I can see. But what possible help would it be to remove your brastraps?? Fez, you seem to have these little adventures on a nearly daily basis! Good on ya!
