  1. I would think they made a mistake on imprinting someone's name on the cover. I know you can get some real bargains if you're willing to cover up the mistake.
  2. So what does discussion mean? Doesn't it mean you either believe Genesis is the infallible word of God, or you don't? Don't let the things of this world or the wisdom of man negate Truth. Because God's word is the only truth we have.
  3. The Boy Scouts of America is a private orginization. As such, they can set the standard for membership. Each member of the Boy Scouts must swear to the following Oath, and agree to obey the following law. If the member does not abide by the oath or law, the can lose their membership. The Boy Scouts have successfully defended their position on homosexuality based upon the "morally straight" clause of the pledge. Since the Oath also recognizes God, and the Law stipulates that all Boy Scouts are to be reverant, Athiests are also not allowed. btw... I'm an Eagle Scout. The Scout Oath On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. The Scout Law Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
  4. Hi allofgrace, Sorry about the confusion. I was refering to your previous post about the law being our schoolmaster, and pointing us to Christ. Which I believe is in Gal. 3:24. I certainly don't disagree with you, but was attempting to point out that if we're taught something, we're expected to follow it after we "graduate". My point being even though the law points to Jesus, we should still try to live a Godly lifestyle.
  5. Hey allofgrace, When you finished drivers ed, did you stop obeying traffic laws? I'm not aware of any schoolmaster who expects you to forget everything you learned in his class. Once you graduate, you're expected to put what you learn to use.
  6. According to Ezekiel, animal sacrifice WILL be reinstated during the millennium.
  7. What man said! (well actually the scripture he quoted...) I'd just like to point out that it only takes ONE sin to be condemned to eternal damnation. So, I fail to see the point. This scripture is speaking about attempting to gain salvation through Torah observance. I'm in complete agreement with everyone on the issue of salvation.
  8. That's a good question, Tinky. Christians on average observe 75-80% of the Law already. They may not observe the Sabbath, the dietary laws, or the Lord's Feasts. But as long as they don't think that being Torah observant is the key to salvation, is it a sin? I don't think so. We need to ask ourselves "WDJD?" (What DID Jesus Do?) As a Christian, I strive to be like Jesus. From reading the Gospels, I know that Jesus was a sinless sacrifice for me and you. That sin was defined by the Torah, and Jesus kept EVERY commandment. I'm just trying to follow in Jesus' footsteps.
  9. I do observe the dietary laws. I am circumcised. I observe the feasts. I observe the Sabbath. I wear zitzits. I try not to wear clothes with mixed fibers. I garden with heirloom seeds. I try to adhere to the rest of the Law. But none of that saves me. Jesus Christ is my Savior and Lord. I choose to do these things, because God does not want to be worshipped the way the pagans worship their gods. He's said these things please me and those things don't. I keep the law because of my Love for God. (The greatest commandment)
  10. So are there TWO standards? No. We're all under the same standard. Christ is our propitiation. Our sins are no longer remembered, because of what Jesus did on the cross. But those sins are defined under the law.
  11. "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." John Adams (The Works of John Adams, ed. C. F. Adams, Boston: Little, Brown Co., 1851, 4:31) John Adams may have been right about Morality and our Republic, but I believe that mentality applies to ALL forms of government. Let me explain. The United States has encouraged democracy throughout the world. How's that worked out for us? Hamas was elected into power by the Palestinians, the Muslim Brotherhood has been elected into power in Egypt. I'm sure there are plenty of EVIL democracies in place. Some might even say that America has an evil democracy in place. The TYPE of government isn't the issue. It's the MORALITY of the government that's the issue. Let me provide you with an example. The people will flourish under a caring and benevolent dictator. The people will suffer under a harsh and unethical republic. Unfortunately, due to the depravity of man. There's no government that won't eventually become evil. EXCEPT. For the Theocracy that will be established once Jesus returns.
  12. You've all missed the point. What is the STANDARD by which mankind is judged? That's the question. The Answer to the question is PERFECTION, as outlined by God in the Torah. This is nothing we can achieve by ourselves, because each one of us has sinned. I'm in complete agreement with everyone that Salvation can only come from our faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. If we have a relationship with Him we will be saved. All the works in the world won't save us. But why isn't the Christian body even attempting to live up to that standard? Who here does laundry or yard work on Saturday/Sunday (depending upon how you observe the sabbath)? The church body as a whole has a cavalier attitude towards sin. They act presumptuously before the Lord. Don't you think that acting this way grieves the Lord?
  13. So, is the Pagan no longer under the law? What about the Jew?
  14. How will we be judged when we enter God's presence? From a secularly legal perspective. We can't be judged by laws that aren't on the books. There must be some means of knowing what is legal behaviour, otherwise a judge can arbitrarily pass judgement on anyone for anything. How does that translate to the spiritual realm? Although the law may be written on our hearts, I really believe that there must be a black and white definition of what's expected of us. I see that as the Torah. We may not be able to keep all 613 laws. They illustrate that we can never measure up to God's perfection, without a redeemer. I honestly believe that we will be judged based upon those laws on Judgement Day. If we are found guilty of one, we will be condemned to hell. Our only hope is the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ. That leads to the next question. If we are judged by these laws, why aren't we attempting to follow them as best we can?
  15. Per the OP, Jesus said "one stone won't be left on another" and then gives us a link to the western wall. Implying the wall contradicts Jesus. Do you REALLY think the wall is proving Jesus wrong?
  16. I have no evidence to prove it one way or another. I wasn't there when the temple existed, and you have a lot of scholars and archaeologists arguing over the location. Who's to say who's right? I just know that the temple was utterly destroyed in 70AD, and there will be a future temple that I'm looking forward to.
  17. Someone posted that the Western Wall is probably part of the Roman fort Antonia. Apparently the dimensions of a Roman Fortress are larger than we are led to believe. There are several ruins to compare Antonia to. Feel free to Google this. But I have to give credit to whoever originally posted, because it was eye opening. IF correct, this means the actual temple location is available to be built on. But it also means that people must reject the "tradition of man" and acknowledge they've been praying at the wrong wall. Unlikely...
  18. I'm posting this in "Hebrew Roots" because I'm sure your "Standard Christian" would have a problem with it. Those of us who have decided to investigate Hebrew roots, have already considered the possibility of becoming Torah Observant. As a preface, I've had a difficult time reconciling Paul's teachings with Jesus' teachings. Whenever, I believe there's a conflict, I always defer to Jesus' teaching. Then I ran across this. Matt. 7:15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves." So who are the "Ravenous Wolves"? Luckily, Genesis has something to say about this. When Jacob prophecies over all of his sons, he said that the Messiah would come from the tribe of Judah. He also indicated that Benjamin was a "Ravenous Wolf" Gen. 49:27 “Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; In the morning he shall devour the prey, And at night he shall divide the spoil.” So, who came after Jesus that was from the tribe of Benjamin? Most of the tribal identity had been lost by the time of Jesus. Only Judah, Levi, and Benjamin remained. Rom. 11:1 I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. That's Paul. He also said he comes from the tribe of Benjamin in Phillipians. Phil. 3:4-6 If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless If you look at Gen 49:27, it's easy to see how Paul could fit the identity of a "Ravenous Wolf". Gen. 49:27 “Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; In the morning he shall devour the prey, And at night he shall divide the spoil.” Early in his life, Paul hunted down and killed Christians, and later in life, he wrote his epistles which can easily mislead Christians according to Peter. 2 Peter 3:14-16 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. SO... What other prophecies are there regarding "Ravenous Wolves" and can they be applied to Paul? Eze. 22:26-28 Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them. 27 Her princes in her midst are like wolves tearing the prey, to shed blood, to destroy people, and to get dishonest gain. 28 Her prophets plastered them with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord had not spoken. Does this also sound like Paul? It does to me. So, now I'm very concerned that Paul may be that "Wolf in sheeps clothing" mentioned by Jesus in Matt. 7:15. Until now, I've defered to Jesus, but I'm now considering rejecting Paul's teachings altogether, because he may be a False Prophet. Can you guys help me out with this? I know this is bordering on herecy, but I firmly believe we should "test everything".
