If a christian who wants to be baptised, finds that there is never an opportunity to be so, even though it is something they are driven towards, and the christian churches are adamant that you should be a member of their church for X amount of time. What is the answer?

I would think that when someone gives of everything they have God loves that offering. When you have nothing and give everything, that is a special gift.

Hey all, My Bible study has brought me to cross roads yet again! I'm not trying to start a debate, but the question I have is "What were the waters above the firmament?" Was it water or, invisible vapour, or formation of dense clouds, or something else? I have researched other Christian scientists views on this, and as I expected opinions and interpretations are varying. If I were to interpret it literally, then I would have to say water, but science seems to indicate that the weight of such a mass could not have been supported above the heavens.......and even some christians say it is cloud formation. There are bible verses which seem to indicate this to be so, however the verse clearly states that the waters above were divided from the same body of water as the waters beneath. Can you see why i'm confused I just want to squeeze any knowledge or understanding out of you guys, because some of you have been studying the bible longer than me. Your help would be much appreciated

Hey Shanobop, I was just considering point 2, have we ever met an angel and not known it? I remember when I was a kid, primary school age, and we (my sister and brother) were doing what we could to help dad, build an extension onto the house, to be honest we were probably more of a hinderance than a help . But we were all chipping in anyhow, when dad suddenly fell to the floor and had some sort of seizure (yeah i know it's not spelt right ), well you can imagine the panic of three kids watching their dad going pale, and struggling to breathe, my sister shouted "Go and get help" so I ran as fast as I could up the road to the house where I knew a missionary lived, I banged on the door and the lady missonary came to the door. I'm not really sure what I said it was a long time ago, but there was alot of crying and screaming, "Daddy's dying", I can't remember if the missionary began to follow me to the house, but as I ran from her house towards my own, a small car pulled up and two ladies dressed in nurses uniforms stepped out saying that "they had taken a wrong turn and wondered if I could help," you can imagine the relief that came over me, all I could say was something along the lines of "My daddy's dying." Well, one nurse ran with me to the house and quickly began working on dad, and the other rang for an ambulance, dad is still alive today because two nurses seemingly took a wrong turn. Were they angels............I don't know, to this day we still don't know who those two nurses were, but if they weren't angels, and just two nurses who took a wrong turn, then I am certain God Almighty directed that loss of direction, for had they not turned up at that precise moment, my dad would certainly have died, of that there is no question, he was choking to death due to the seizure. Was it a coincidence?...............If it was, it was one huge coincidence.

You know i'm not intolerant of other religions, but would you want me to tell you, if you were standing on train tracks, if a train was coming your way? Intolerance is not the problem, frustration that few listen, that is what breaks the christian's heart. Many see the christian shouting at the strangers that Jesus is their only salvation, but few witness the tears that the christian sheds, when the stranger walks away.

Hi piston, Just a quick note to let you know I listed down the alleged contradictions, but I can tell you before I do any study on them that they do not contradict. The one thing that instantly sprang to mind is, you pulled the list off the internet and claim they are contradictions, this is badly structured reasoning on your behalf my friend. Because this says to me you are following another persons reasoning rather than seeking the answers from the source (The Bible) itself, this means that, you personally have no knowledge of the alleged contradictions you listed. It is sort of like following a blind man. Nonetheless, if you still wish to go through your list I'm more than happy to. I would suggest though that you grab a Bible first, i'm sure if you cannot bring one into your home, then you can go to a local library and look at one, or as you have internet access, you can also read them online. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

sorry, i've come in late in the conversation, i'm wondering why you believe the Bible contradicts itself piston? point me to the verse in the Bible, where this has occurred? I have found, that it is 100 percent my lack of understanding rather than the Bible contradicting itself. If you have answered this question previously, just let me know, and i'll skoot on back to it.

By coincidence or accident, I came across a presentation/play on the parable of the ten virgins yesterday on www.levitt.com. Just click on internet tv, then scroll down to special editions/programmes, and if i remember correctly it is under the title of "Beloved Thief," whilst it is in play format, it certainly explains the parable of the ten virgins, plus there's some beautiful singing in it.
