And I am putting everyone on notice that I would not only keep the death penalty for 1st degree murder, but I would expand the death penalty to other violent crimes. I have guidelines from scripture how God feels about the death penalty. I am not more just than God. He gave the death penalty for rape of a married woman, adultery, witchcraft, homosexual acts and many other things. He did that knowing that there would be times when an innocent person would be put to death. I would not necessarily institute it in all of the same transgressions, but I certainly don't believe I would be wrong to do so. Could you make a way so we do not support the criminals for 30 years; Im really against them getting better medical with my money than I can afford for myself with what money is left over. maybe one trial, one appeal then maybe one month set personal stuff in order.

Quote: Open Theism is the view that God knows only what is knowable. Quote In this statement, God only knowing what humans know, they admit God is not smarter than man and therefore could not create this world or anything living on/in it, as man can not. I do not need to see more of their theory. I see it wrong in one statement.

Yes I believe God has made a way for us to be safe while he lets Satan run his course. -
Quote: Is it wrong to care about how one looks? Quote It it depends on who is the "one" is. if the "one" is yourself then it matters. If the "one" is someone else you may not have a say in it. Quote: ~I view most Church-goers as people who care about how they look. There's even the phrase, "Sunday best." Quote I think "Sunday Best" comes from knowing you are going before the Lord on Sunday; so look your best. A mechanic would not go to church in his work clothes. The jeans you like best may have a hole in the knee; so wear them six days and put on a clean pair of jeans without holes for Sunday. Quote: ~I hear that, "Our bodies our temples for The LORD". -Quote Once a person accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior he does indwell. So yes God lives inside us. Quote: - I think some people are inspired to care about their health and appearance and feel support from this passage.Quote I think you are right . Quote: ~I've also heard that, "we should be like lilies of the fields and not care what we eat or wear".Quote On this i agree with OtherOne. I think it is saying " not to worry God will provide" if he is your Savior. Quote: - Yet I head it is a sin to eat too much. (gluttony) Quote Yes it is wrong to over indulge in many things, you can have a beer or two not 10, you can have two helpings of food not four. Quote: ~I've also heard that it is adultery to dress in ways some people find immodest.Quote Adultery is not about dress code. Adultery is having sex with one who is married whether you are married or not. the bible also states by lusting after one is also adultery. for instance if your married friend dresses provocatively and you are trying to imagine having sex with her/him because their dress code shows to much you have committed adultery. You can look at a beautiful person and admire their beauty without imagining sex acts with them.

This is a confusing matter for me as well. Some of the statements people make are great for some but still others like myself are left puzzled. I may be reading more into it than I should, if so it is because I still do not understand. I thank the Lord every morning as soon as wake. I thank the Lord if I find a penny on the ground. I thank the Lord if I find a parking space.I thank the Lord for my food, money to buy and knowledge to cook it. I read in the bible quite regular seeking the Lords understanding. If I am having difficulty doing something I ask the Lord for help with it. I speak/talk to him many times a day. And yet I feel myself not quite giving God my all. Things that people put forward to help one understand seems to elude my understanding many times. If someone said to me; ( I pray before I make all decisions ) I would think there is some things he/she does not pray for but he/she thinks I know them so they did not separate them out from "all decisions" for me to see. If one has a child, does one pray and ask God what clothes the child should wear to school, does one pray before they decide to put that child on bus or drive them to school, does one pray before your child can go next door a play with their friend, does one pray before deciding to eat out or cook in. Does one pray which route to take to work. Does one pray before grocery shopping, whether it be to find the right foods to buy or which store to buy from. To me these are part of the "all decisions" that are not discussed. I know to pray before a purchase of house, car, expensive toys, getting married, having children, going on vacation and how much to allocate money, going to certain places out of the norm, even befriending certain people but so many things leaves me wondering is this one of the decisions I need to pray to God for or is this one he expects me to use my freewill and what I have already learned in is word to make my own decision. Sorry for going on so.

I am sticking to my first post gambling is like drinking. It ok if you do a little. It is not ok if you over indulge. both can be destructive only after you over indulge. Destruction of family life or society comes in many forms. where does the money go said one post ? If you make a purchase at Walmart are you not helping promote the homosexual life style as they are the biggest giver to that cause. Same with taking kids to disney wolrd they promote it to. If some one buys a few lotto tickets or plays a few one arm bandits its not self destruction therefore it is not wrong. It was done for the fun of it win or lose there was fun associated with it not greed, not a bad thing but there was no destruction of anything. many forms of destruction over indulging is the key I think. Common sense, does not allow greed to have control

When I was in the service we played different card games ( poker was one of them ) in our off time; money was always involved. I never felt like I sinned by doing this. No one wanted to play just for the fun of playing cards. We played every single day for money. Now that I look back on those days even though we played every day the whole time in the service I never got hooked or rich for that matter. Oh we were at work also not in the barracks. Because we only used pennies nothing else. I do not see the greed for money in my disclosure. We could afford to play for more than we did but we chose a penny a point And our bills and families were taken care of I thought it was ok. I personally know some, who can pay bills and insure the family is ok and play for hundreds of dollars without being in a casino and without enticements. One friend lets his 28 year old non working daughter and her two kids ( 5 and 7 ) live at home and he pays all the bills and medical for him, his wife, his grown daughter, and two grand kids plus supplies three vehicles and insurance for them and gas and food, clothing. I see it as; if he can afford to play for hundreds of dollars and not be in a casino and not be drinking im ok with it mostly because I know he is doing right by his family. I never seen him without 3 or 4 thousand on his person. I dont consider him sinning. Now if he were in a casino drinking more than he should and was lax on the bills thats another matter. I also play pool and snooker tournaments 10 bucks to enter and can win depending on how many plays any where from 50 bucks a week up 150 per week. I play not to chance a big win, not for greed but for the love of the game.

Some Christian scholars of history consider the Book of Hebrews written by Apostle Paul through Luke's penmanship. Their reasoning was because of some of the Greek terms used point to Luke since he was doctor. At some point Apostle Paul's eyesight must have failed him: Gal 6:11 11 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. (KJV) That's how it could be that Paul was dictating to Luke in writing the Book of Hebrews. I can certainly see how this could be what happened.

I guess its hard to learn and hide my ignorance at the same time, chuckle on. Now now...I never said you were ignorant. When I wrote chuckle, I put the silly face to try and show how I meant it. I posted the verse that tells us that absolutely none of us, according to God Himself, can imagine all that He has planned for those of us who are in Christ Jesus, His Son. I'm not thinking you are ignorant at all. I think God Himself puts questions in our hearts so we will search His word and find answers. That's how I really meant things. I guess those smilies, cute as they are, just don't always convey things right. Im not upset with you Sevenseas, you didnt say that, I said that to let others know that I know im really short on knowledge about this subject and I am. This subject is not something to put a lot of time into I know that too. It was just a thought and I wanted to here others thoughts. I kind of thought you had a chuckle because I said massive amount of knowledge, which caused the thought to pop into your mind of big heads. I see how you could get a chuckle, thats cool. I was not offended and sometimes im to direct I apologize for that. The fact remains I think we will need quiet a bit of info we do not have now before we can oversee angels. which still leaves me pondering how quick it will be given to us. To me it seems odd we could be in Heaven less than 24 hours and be overseeing angels. I do sometimes make my responses to short which can be mistook. And other times I just can not find a better way to express my thoughts. alls good

Some time I see a post under recent topic that catches my eye ( not sure which eye). I know I have not read or posted in but as I go there at top I see " unfollow" . I did not get notification of the post and it asking if I want to unfollow as if I am following some time there may be 4 pages of post I never got notfied on and I dont think I followed. any ideas. I did say follow to general forum but not sure if it notifies for whole forum like it does for a post one follows.

SevenSeas I did post an answer to your question, although I didnt direct it to you, sorry for that. I have trouble with small print. No water under the bridge here as stated in op. I am surprised how many people I run into that never read the whole bible and quiet a few that have not read the NT; still fantastic people even though they have not taken the time. I would be open to any other books that you might recommend.

True and I get a lot of really good info right here at Worthy.

If you were specifically spreading The Gospel of Jesus Christ, like an evangelist, going to other peoples who have not yet heard The Gospel, then a pocket NT could be your primary resource. The U.S. military used to issue us pocket New Testaments back in a time when no one griped about it. Those who didn't want it simply gave it away. Even though I wasn't baptized yet back then I thought the military doing that was a nice gesture. But when one has already come to Christ Jesus and believed and been baptized, it's time to mature in Christ through all of His Word, which of course includes the OT also. Preaching The Gospel I believe can be more effective using the OT with the NT, teaching what God told through His OT prophets what would come to pass. And for prophecy, especially for the end of this world, the OT is required for the believer on Christ Jesus, even as Christ's Apostles in the NT admonished us to be mindful of what the OT prophets had written, and how they serve as "ensamples" for those upon whom the end of the world has come. I totally agree with you. I may just get another complete rather than going the way I was thinking. thanks good advice.

It might be easier to find a bigger purse kwick. I say that cause Ive looked at a lot of bibles lately and it seems not many large print small Bibles are out there.
-
While I was pondering on this subject it came to mine that these angels we will judge/oversee have been in the presents of Jesus/God for thousands, if not more, years. Then can this massive amount of knowledge be put into believers instantly. I realize there may not be an answer for this as we all see dimly now. I agree once a believer enters Heaven instantly they will be aware of a large amount of knowledge they did not have. Im still pondering if that first influx of new knowledge will also include enough to oversee angels.
