Dani, I love that song because it is so theologically sound. Theology is irrelevant. Jesus died for the sins of the world. If He had no care for the pigment of one's skin, gender one was, wealth one possessed....why on earth should we? God is love and sometimes....more often than not, that is too quickly forgotten. speaking for myself i was raised as racist but I was not taught to hate a person for skin color it was more for the things they done or did not do. now the people i grew up around may have had their hatred rooted in skin color but I never heard anyone say that the blacks were hated for the color of their skin. through out history there have always been some really good black people and some really sorry low down no good white people. I do not use the color of skin I use the actions of people black or white to determine if they a part of my life. I have a blood brother i wont let in my house cause he is and always has been a thief he has stolen from all six of my brothers, all four of my sisters, all four aunts, all 7 uncles from my mom, my dad and my grandparents and many neighbors all of whom have let him stay in their house cause he never seem to be able to get a job but in the end he always got kicked out or steeling. I know some black people I would leave a house key with if i went on vacation for a week and know I could trust them. I would not trust my brother with my house key. so where does that put me, if people are good we love and help them. If people are bad we try to help them. sometimes you have to come out and be separate from certain people. Coheir, ....Feel like in a way, I am listening to myself. Minus the being brought up racist. There are family members that ....in truth, I do the best I can to avoid them because of some really bad habits and destructive behavior that tends to drag or bring others down with it. Otherwise if they are around...cannot begin to tell you how strong the urge to sin is....as there is a lot of anger penned up that has formed lately in light of very recent events. Needed that today. Thanks for sharing your experience. Just Another Sinner Without A Clue Dani

Dani, theology is never irrelevant and without trying to give you a, likewise, snappy reply, theology is what is being discussed. The theology taught in the Word of God is a many faceted subject and the point of the OP, mine, is just one facet to examine. I don't know why you snapped back at me, I was in your corner. Th1bill, You are right. Think that instead of focusing on the kingdom of God, my attention was fixated on something else. Under a lot of personal stress of various natures. Know it does not condone or excuse the poor choice of words made. Been under a lot of persecution...getting to the point where perhaps I need to really take it to God and stop preparing for battle at every corner. Thank you for your patience and gentle choice of words. My apologies. Just Another Sinner Without A Clue Dani

The Outward Appearance of God’s People: Does it Matter?
AnotherSinner replied to mizzdy's topic in General Discussion
Amen. It is basically like a person drinking then telling someone to do as they say not as they do. Which is why it is important the image of God we cast in our lives as it can lead a person to or away from God. -
Revelation 2 (Continued) To the Church in Smyrna 8 “To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: Revelation 2:8-11 (NIV)These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. 9 I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown. 11 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death. This passage speaks of trials, tribulations, poverty...yet also of wealth. Is the wealth mentioned that of a spirtual nature rather than an earthly sort? What is spiritual wealth or riches? What is the second death spoken of? Spiritual death after our earthly bodies die?

The Outward Appearance of God’s People: Does it Matter?

Yes outward and inward presentation should matter. At least to a certain extent. Could be wrong but believe that there are scriptures that direct believers how they should adorn for church. Some of those instructions were: To neglect gaudy jewelry and attire To neglect wearing something that in which might inspire impure thought or a brother/sister in Christ to stumble. Think there was more...but much of how we dress too reflects how much we, as individuals think of the person God made each of us to be. Just Another Lost Soul Without A Clue Dani 1st tim 2 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; this does not say gaudy; it says no gold, no pearls 1 Timothy 2: 8-10 (NIV)8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. -

Pigment is pigment. White, black, blue, purple, or green God made all of us in His Image. Love Bible songs and one should really serve as a lesson to us all. Here are the lyrics. I pray we each reflect on them. Jesus loves the little children All the children of the world Red and yellow, black and white They are precious in His sight Jesus loves the little children of the world My apologies for any offense caused. The way this is worded, it comes out sounding like Jesus was a body separate from the Son of God. Not at all, friend. Youyou are making the common mistake and not considering the truth that your human body is not all of you... it' s not even the important part of you. Just as Jesus died, so will you and I but your spirit self will not experience death except you are a lost man. The Spirit of Jesus, the Son of God that is without beginning or end, did not ever die. Just as you and your spirit are one, so it is with Jesus. Bill, the Bible says, "the Word became flesh," though. True, it is only the body that dies, yet this is still what we call "the person died." But to say, "The Word of God never died but Jesus died" is to claim that the Word did not become flesh. If Jesus never died why the cross? He endured much in His time as a man. He had the opportunity to embrace and walk in sin much as we all do and have daily. Jesus is the living word of God. Jesus spoke of His own death. He also said that once we are God's children that not even death itself could take us away from God. This is because Jesus died for us. Why is this so difficult to believe?

Chapter 2 (Part I) To the Church in Ephesus 2 “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. 2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. 6 But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.7 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. Are these verses speaking of a church that has or will forget its primary function? That being to love and serve God.

Is it idolatry to worship Christ?!

Thanks for taking the time to explain your positions. Don't feel bad about having your faith shaken. It can happen to anyone. The Bible warns that in the last days, there will be such strong delusions, if possible, the very elect would be deceived. Agreed faith sometimes can be shaken, much as Peter's was when He took His eyes away from Jesus. As said in baseball..."Keep your eyes on the ball." -
Even so, it is no different than someone who has a family history of low alcohol tolerance buying him/herself beer with the intent to drink. Though perhaps not to the point of a drunken stupor...it is still inviting trouble or the potential thereof in. Owning a weapon is not simply done to have it laying around, but with the intent to use it.
-
Two points: Not to be insulting or demeaning to you in my comments, because that is not my intent, but whenever anyone argues from the "guns are bad" mindset, they blame the gun for whatever bad or negligent act is committed with it. A gun is simply a tool. A machine that can do nothing on it's own. It needs a person to operate it and use it either properly or improperly. A gun laying on a dining room table isn't going to shoot anyone. It needs a person to come along, pick it up and pull the trigger to do anything. If a child is toying with a gun and is shot by it, that is not the guns fault. The blame is placed on the wrong thing. The fault would always be with the irresponsible person who caused the accident by their negligence. Whether it was negligence in the handling of the gun, or the storage of it. As I said: It is the person behind the barrel. Do not see why the temptation need be invited inside the home in the first place.
-
Only problem is on the opposite side of the coin someone could post a video or story of a child being shot because of the same weapon that is supposed to be used for protection being toyed with or ill used. Then...it is the person behind the barrel I guess....still do not understand why temptation should even be invited in. A video that comes to mind for me...forgive me everyone please is Veggie Tales: Larry Boy & The Bad Apple "Temptation" song. My apologies if I offend anyone. That is not my intent. Know this news is going to disappoint some who feel that somehow this young lady deserved this, but: Honor student jailed for missing school cleared of charges After a judge in Texas sentenced a 17-year-old girl to a night in jail for missing school, critics across the country responded by condemning the court’s decision. A week later, Judge Lanny Moriarty changed his stance. After paying a $100 fine and serving a 24-hour stint behind bars for an unexcused absence from Willis High School in Houston, Texas, Judge Lanny Moriarty dropped charges against the teenager. Tran, a straight-A honor student enrolled in college-credit classes, missed class because juggling two jobs in addition to her course load became too burdensome at times. "If you let one run loose, what are you going to do with the rest of them? Let them go, too?" Moriarty asked local KHOU 11 News last week. In Texas, state law mandates that repeat offenders of a stringent school attendance policy can be penalized for truancy. Specifically, the state can put its foot down after a student claims 10 unexcused absences in a six-month space. In the case of Tran, she was often unable to attend school because long-hours on the clock to make money to support her siblings often made it difficult to get to school, even if it meant staying up to 7 a.m. studying. “I can understand if a child is staying out of school, running around, a bad kid, getting into trouble, taking drugs,"Tran’s boss, Mary Elliot, told ABC News after her sentencing. "I can understand why he would slap them into jail for 24 hours. But Diane doesn't do that. All she does is work and go to school." “She's a straight-A student," Elliot added. "She keeps her grades up, but sometimes she oversleeps, because she's been working." Luckily for Tran, an outpour of support came through after people just like Mary Elliott extended apologizes over Judge Moriarty’s ruling. Now not only has the judge been driven to clearing the student’s criminal record, but a petition established online to garner support for Tran brought in $100,000 in only days. Administrators at HelpDianeTran.com say that people from 50 states and 19 countries offered money to supports students such as Tran. On Thursday, Tran tells the Houston Chronicle that she cannot possibly accept the donation. “There's some other kid out there struggling more than me,” says the teen. No matter where the money goes, the best news for Tran this week is that the bogus charged brought on my Judge Moriarty will soon be removed from her record and she will be officially exonerated from the incident. "She can now truthfully say that she doesn't have a criminal history," her attorney, Brice Wice, tells the Huffington Post. Read in this or another issue of this same story that her father visits her on weekends... made the story all the more disgusting. With her being a minor why is he not supporting his teen age daughter or other kids? Where is her mother? Why did this child get a night in jail or a $100 fine in the first place for being mom and dad as well as working hard as a student? Here is the link to the article. http://rt.com/usa/news/judge-student-school-tran-720/ Do not have anything more to offer here.... just thought I would share the update. I do not regret signing the petition.

John 14:5-7 (NIV) 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” -

The truth should always be sought in God's written word, which was fulfilled as well as lived and breathed by Christ Jesus. A believer will be known by his or her fruits. Is it bad to listen to a false prophet? Well, it can be dangerous ground. For after all, why is a false prophet a false prophet? Because of his or her fruit. The word of God is always honest and sincere, a false prophet is not. Just Another Sinner Seeking The Way Dani

Former Father-In-Law (Mother-In-Law's) deceased husband was on a machine to breathe. The minute he learned he could not sing or play his guitar again....he pulled the plug. Those were his means of income and in truth, the gifts God gave him. Without those, his life had no meaning.... Not really sure where to stand on this. Man has been trying to do so many things in the medical field. Prolonging life is but one of them. God is always in control, there is no arguing that....but how do we know when it is our time? Have heard so many who walk close to death say 'they are ready.' Or that more or less 'their time is near' and not too long after they leave this earth. Is it possible they know something we do not? Neb, we don't let minors live in that situation in this country. You all seem to think it's just OK for a house full of minors to carry on by themselves.... even at the expense of the legal system. this may well be in her best interests, and I think the court has a much better view of the situation than we after reading a news story. There are things within my own family that I really can't discuss here that ended up in both estremes...... good and bad endings. but whatever the case, there is never........ "NEVER" an excuse for breaking the law. The girl may well have sacrificed her whole future if she continued her path. Do you really think she should have sacrificed her education..... for what...... not wanting to let authorities know that minors were living alone... Do we know where they were living..... do we know if they were even safe..... we're making decisions about something that we know nearly nothing about. SHE IS AN ALL A student! Her grades were not in question. It was her attendance. Do not take my word for it....look for yourself. It is all over the news there are various news videos about it. I am sorry but I am going to hold it against the judge. Watching him in the videos...he just simply does not care. Truancy due to a full time job in addition to a part time job.... used to support family makes this girl a criminal? Come on! Give me a break! Seriously. With that being said I am done discussing this. Hopefully not everyone will be ignorant of a girl who is really in need of support not condemnation.

If I am not mistaken the article reads that the parents moved out. In other words, the parents are guilty of abandonment! How is she in the wrong for taking care of her siblings where her parents should have. Sickened that anyone would say or imply that this girl is getting what is due her. The schools should have been paying more attention. As should the parents be the ones tried here for leaving their kids behind. Not a 17 year old girl being forced into parenting because her parents opted out. I'm not buying that. I have several relatives that teach in Texas, and if she had been honest with the school they could not have left her in that position. No one in the school system would put themselves in such a position as to let that continue. The kid made a choice and part of that choice was illegal. It may well be the best thing that has happened to her as things go along. You just can't let people flaunt the law..... even if they've been mis used or abused. Many young people don't seem to get a grasp on that. If we are going to remain a nation of laws, it can't be tolerated. Well obviously no family is doing anything now ..... guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree. She is a minor and do not see how a day in jail and a $100 fine should apply to a minor for missing school. This article also shows the family's lack of involvement. She was living in one of her EMPLOYER'S homes! She is a minor. Why are the parents not facing charges? From the second article: According to one report, truancy has been linked to crime and troubled youths. One student who might not typically be thought of as a truant student is Diane Tran. The 17-year-old is a straight-A honor student at Willis High School near Houston, but was sent to jail recently for 24 hours for missing too much school, reports KHOU-11 News . According to the same report, Tran works a full-time job, a part-time job, and takes advanced placement and dual credit college level courses. With her busy schedule, she says she is often too tired to get to school. Tran says she is working so hard because she is helping to support her siblings. Her parents divorced and moved away from Willis, leaving Tran behind. She now lives with the family of one of her current employers. They own a wedding venue where she works on the weekend. According to KHOU News Tran says that she misses around 3 days of school a month. The Texas truancy law states that a student may not miss more than 10 days in a six-month period. A student with excessive absences may be sent to court for their fate to be decided. Judge Lanny Moriarty warned Tran not to miss anymore school back in April, but he issued a summons and had her arrested when she missed school again two weeks ago. She was ordered to spend 24 hours in a local jail and fined $100. According to CBS Atlanta, Moriarty claims he wanted to make an example of Tran. "If you let one run loose, what are you gonna do with the rest of 'em? Let them go too? A little stay in the jail for one night is not a death sentence." Supporters have already set up a website to help Diane Tran and her family. Those joining the cause have also turned to social media outlets such as a Facebook group and Tumblr blogs to gain attention to the issue. A petition against Moriarty's ruling has been set up on Change.orgwith over 35,000 signatures and counting. Link to full article and more: http://www.syracuse.com/have-you-heard/index.ssf/2012/05/texas_honor_student_jailed.html Huffington post and various others have the story as well...it is going international.
