  1. Found this on Facebook this morning and am utterly disgusted. Why are the parents not being pursued legally? When did it become a 17 year old girl's responsibility to work as well as care for her younger siblings? Why does the law condemn her for being so tired when clearly her grades reflect her dedication? I signed the petition.... Will you? Here is the story: Diane Tran isn't like most seventeen-year-old girls her age. Sure, there are many honors students taking dual credit U.S. History, dual credit English Literacy, College Algebra, and Spanish Language AP. Sure, there are some who work part time and full time jobs like Diane does at a dry cleaners and a wedding venue. But, since Diane's parents have moved away, Diane does all of this to support herself and her two siblings. For a student facing these challenges, a teacher or authority figure should have reached out to her and made sure she didn't slip through the cracks. Despite her situation, she's not just an extraordinary worker and student, she's an extraordinary human being with a fighting spirit. The reason why we should care about her is this: The state of Texas is sentencing a young girl to a night of jail for being too emotionally and physically exhausted to go to school. The institutions that are to provide resources to youth and ensure justice are instead punishing her like a criminal and fining her $100. The Judge in Diane's case said he was making an example of her with this severe punishment. Diane is already an example of how people her age should be acting. Please tell Judge Lanny Moriarty, the State of Texas, and the U.S.A. to make sure that the future leaders of our nation are looked after and taken care of. Thank you. 2. Thank you Rare Bird and Nebula. More often than not, I have decided to let things work themselves out. It is my husband though who struggles with this, as since his older brother does not take charge.... he feels he, himself is obligated to do the things that his older siblings should be doing. He also feels somehow that this is his cross to bear. That his migraines are just a part of it. Trying to respect that decision is really hard for me...as I have seen first hand how hard it is for him to get up and going in the morning because of these same migraines which always seem to come following stressful situations involving his family. Will not deny I regret not saying something to his brother about his lie and even putting family in a position to where they are either being silent or going along with his lies.... For not knowing the full situation, I chose to be quiet. Then when I did....when his lady friend called....I was not sure if telling her of his deception would be the right thing to do as it would only add more stress to my husband as his brother would call him likely bad mouthing me....and cause a rift.... Just clueless here.....how long can a wife be lovingly obedient to her husband and respect his wishes...especially when she sees how much damage they do? Trying to do what is right, just not sure what is right at this point. Just Another Sinner Seeking The Way Dani
  3. The heart is carrying a heavy load at the present. For weeks now, my husband has been waking up off and on with migraines. He has assured me the doctors say it is primarily due to underlying health issues we were already made aware of, but that stress has become an additional factor as of recently. Right now.... much of the unhealthy stress, I feel, stems from his biological family. He has had on his shoulders: The whole workload of income in our house since I lost my position recently. Fight to get full time hours during the week he needs just for us to make it by. Being the man he is, he has decided he alone should work so the tiring and grueling process of job hunting for a second job. Assisting me by playing driver for the boys and I as I try to work around his schedule to get our boys in for shots and referrals from doctors. His family has contributed to his load: Brother and sister have been stealing from his mother's boyfriend. Mother - in -law was starting to look for a place to live, hubby and I offered her one...fortunately things worked out. Still...it was enough for him to lose sleep at night and have his migraines return this week full force. Brother -in-law took the liberty of lying to his girlfriend/fiance/ex-girlfriend by telling her that he was in the e.r. as a result a number of us were getting calls and texts about it at work and home. While none of us had a clue as to what was going on. The lie is still ongoing, and it is something I have asked my husband to tell his brother not to do again, for I will not be lying to the young lady for him. In short....it is one nasty mess..... One that he continuously is in the middle of and as the youngest son, he should not be one to have to support his mother, older brother, older sister, and his sister's children in addition to his own two growing boys. Forgive and forget is something I know I should practice...just do not know how when it affects my husband's well - being and livelihood. Just...tired of it. It is a broken record that no matter how many times forgiven....there is no change, no apologies, no repentance. What do I do? Praying on this...and going to keep praying on it....before it destroys everything. Just Another Sinner Seeking The Way Dani
  4. Chapter 1: Continued.... Revelation 1:9-11 (NIV) John’s Vision of Christ 9 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.10 On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, 11 which said: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna,Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.” Think it was OneLight who responded in regards of a question about the first part of Revelation chapter 1 that I asked about the time in which John wrote it. Now seeing a verse that supports that. Revelation 1:12-16 (NIV) 12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15 His feet were like bronze glowingin a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sunshining in all its brilliance. 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said:“Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. Some things that stuck out in that passage was the reference to the manner in which this divine entity seemed to appear: "And among the lamp stands was someone like A SON OF MAN." There was also this. "The he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever. And I hold the keys of death and Hades." The only other reference....that I have known in regards of Son of Man, is Jesus. Are there other references to Son of Man that perhaps are not associated with Jesus Christ? Could this entity be none other than Jesus as Jesus triumphed over sin and Death on the cross? If so...is this perhaps a glimpse of what God may look like? Revelation 1:19-20 (NIV) 19 “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. 20 The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. Seven churches have angels! Wow? Can these too apply to our day and the end times to come? My apologies for so many questions. Going to allow this to sit a day or two before I continue so that way what has been read can be truly taken in. Still....sitting here in amazement myself. Really...just awed! 5. well if your honest and wanting to know this probably will be a lifetime search as when you think that you have it all figured out. you dont. all i will say is dont take the verses out of context as is common today. just read what it says and then look to what the references events earlier say and how that happened and the languaged used and go from there ie for it is says in exodus. "for i am come down to see.." and jesus is telling annais ye shall see me coming in the clouds. the means the judgements. god judged egypt and isreal with signs and plagues and signs and wonders and the roman army. Seeking God in itself is a life long search. For no matter how much we read and come to know of Him, there is always more. Do not mind spending a lifetime searching. After all....seek and ye shall find. Right? yes but when you start into these eschatology debates you will see who has not studied much and thinks that they have it all figured out. when i think i have it all packed i get stumped by someone or realise whoops im wrong. See it already. There have been times too, I have been in error. It is all part of growing. Much as we do when we take our first steps, we stumble...fall...then try again. Thankfully God is patient and will guide us in our understanding. Just may take a while with some of us, especially me....as sometimes it takes me a while to grasp things.
  6. Jesus appeared to him, and Angels also helped in writing revelation. So after Jesus was crucified because on down Jesus said I am the first and last, then said I was a dead, and now alive. Act 26:23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. Will Jesus come after the dead in Christ rise? Perhaps even after all dead are risen prior to their judgement? The passage there says that Every Eye will see Him. EVEN THOSE WHO PIERCED HIM..... is scripture referring to the literal soldier and figures that carried out Jesus' sentence? Or perhaps more from the spiritual stand point? That being the ones who denied Him, that being His own people, the Jews? Posted Image Act 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. Dan 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. Dan 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. If you believe in Pre-Trib Rapture, the dead in Christ are raised when Jesus hauls the church out of here. Danial said at that time they people will be delivered that are found in the book. If you believe in Post trib, then right after the seventh angelic trumpet blast Jesus comes, and the sixth seal is released. It's judgement time as he described that event in Matthew also. So, you hang out until then. These question jump us right into the Rapture debate again.................. Be blessed. Thanks for the insight. Will continue chapter one soon. Please anyone reading this. Let us not turn this into a rapture debate...just keep it simple and to scripture discussed. Thank you.
  7. ....I apologize. Been rather eager about reading Revelation as better understanding is something sought. Will go slowly so as to allow others to get involved if they are wanting to do so. Will start with some of Chapter 1 this evening. Going to divide it into two parts for now as the hour is gradually growing late and sadly, though the weather is needed...got some chances of heavy rain coming in this direction. Revelation 1:1-3 (NIV) Prologue The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. Did Jesus reveal this knowledge to John? Is it possible that Revelation was written in the time prior to or immediately following Jesus' crucifixion? Revelation 1:4-8 (NIV) Greetings and Doxology 4 John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father —to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. 7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Who are the seven spirits? Are these the same that shall blow the trumpets or bring upon the judgments to the earth in the last days? Will Jesus come after the dead in Christ rise? Perhaps even after all dead are risen prior to their judgement? The passage there says that Every Eye will see Him. EVEN THOSE WHO PIERCED HIM..... is scripture referring to the literal soldier and figures that carried out Jesus' sentence? Or perhaps more from the spiritual stand point? That being the ones who denied Him, that being His own people, the Jews? Will post more of Chapter 1 of Revelation later. Would just like to touch base a little. 8. Thank you OneLight. Going to start reading Revelation here likely by the end of the week. May post some questions if there are had some in terms of what I read. Feel that sometimes insight can be found along with understanding sometimes when one looks for it while in fellowship with other believers. Just Another Sinner Seeking The Way Dani
  9. Amen! God's word defines what the Holy Spirit is all around.
  10. Plan on studying Revelation soon. More in depth though after John. John has had my full attention though I am slower than you. I am just starting Chapter 9. So do not feel bad. Chapter behind you. But learning so much!

  12. With much of the End Times being a mystery.... Not to mention so much different interpretation in regards of the Last Days, would anyone be interested in studying Revelation with me? Chapter by Chapter?
  13. My husband and I had a long conversation last night..... The issue of which perhaps presents itself more often than not in our circumstance is: Pride. I have trouble asking ANYONE for help. This while not exactly right, is for various reasons that hopefully God will open my heart and help correct: 1. Some of my family does not like to do so without holding a record of debt or has done so several times in the past to where it has become uncomfortable to request for assistance. This has also made any rare instance where assistance has been needed from me to be rather uncomfortable, for when repayment is needed or requested....well.....in short, guilt trips have been given for it. 2. Some of my husband's family just does not do it, or tends to leave us be. 3. When we do get help, we feel awful...as both my husband and I want to be what scripture calls us to be. He, the provider....me a good mother and teacher unto my children. A key factor I know I overlook or seem to forget....God wants us to put our trust in Him.... This is something that is likely going to get a lot more reflection and meditation on. By no means, does this mean that any efforts my husband and I are making are going to cease altogether and God will be relied on to do every last thing for us. No, rather we are going to trust fully in Him that everything will be alright without pushing ourselves so hard to the point where we are literally breaking...which sadly seems to be the limit we are drawing close to reaching as my husband's health has not been too good as of late and the doctors have already advised him to keep his stress level down. Trusting God...really should be first and foremost in our relationship with Him...should it not? Going to really work on this. Anyone have some good examples of relationships in the Bible between man and God that perhaps I could meditate on...some passages too perhaps? Just Another Sinner Seeking The Way Dani
  14. .....Worry and Trusting God To Provide...... When a response was originally offered to this thread there were not as many burdens upon the shoulders of my husband and I. As of late it has become exceedingly difficult for faith to be had in God's provision. While I know He will always watch over us and has never failed to provide for my husband, children, and I in times of need....really cannot help but feel overwhelmed at present. My present job is about to be terminated. My husband is just...barely making enough for us to live off of with government assistance. Him and I both are actively seeking employment..... There are some immediate future needs too that are weighing heavily on us in this search for steady better paying jobs. Those being: Car Troubles Getting Our Oldest Son Set For Visits To See Specialists Getting Youngest Shots .....All before the school year starts this fall. That is not a long time away....and right now...just seems unrealistic as we are barely making it as is.... How do some of you find unwavering faith when faced with such obligations? Are we lazy because we cannot ever seem to get above the bar of need?....Just hard not to feel like a worthless worm. Just Another Sinner Seeking the Way Dani
  15. Rich Thank you for posting this. Has scripture ever jumped out at me? Yes...the first time this occurred was when I found myself looking into the book of Job. At the time there were many questions as well as doubts within my heart concerning suffering. God's word still does that today for me and likely will continue to. Another one is in the book of Ecclesiastes in reference to there being a time and place for everything under heaven. There are so many others too...such as certain verses as well as chapters of James that speak in reference to the tongue as well as walking in faith. Having faith...is one thing....living it and working it.....is another and one that so often any more today seems to have been forgotten along the way. Recently too when looking into scripture for instruction on the church....this may seem strange but I was moved to the point of tears when reading passages in regards of what women should adorn themselves in within the church. It has been an eye opening passage for me as it is now something I practice.... in accordance to the written word rather than the things in which I had been taught as a small child. 1 Timothy 2:1-15 (NIV) I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying —and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety. As a young girl I was taught that one had to look one's best for God. This meant wearing the best of what one had....my nicest dress, shoes, hair pins, jewelry. Seeking instruction on the church, I found the above passages truly ones that spoke to me. Notice too the words written in regards of a woman's role within the church, quiet obedience. It makes me think of a woman in the Old Testament. This being Hannah.....who came quietly and with her whole heart to God in prayer. Then in truth....there likely is no place a man or woman could be stronger than down on bended knee. Just Another Sinner Seeking The Way Dani
  16. Thank you Charles, SevenSeas, Lady C.... You have all given some much appreciated insight. Have had some non-believing friends ask a number of questions. Some of those being things like: How can a person know if there is a God? What proof is there of God in the world today? Who is God? Why should I believe in Him? The questions seem reasonable to me in terms of Who is He? If one should believe in Him...for once those same questions were very much present in my mind. Just one thing though...my walk of faith is not going to be every one else's right? Figured I would ask and see if anyone else had any experience or advice to share on this matter as God is received with so much skepticism today.
  17. The most common argument that is made that I have heard against God is the desire for proof of His existence. Is there any way that one can truly prove or disprove God? I ask because so many of those that I know are atheists and have a hard time grasping the very possibility of the existence of God. Please understand my faith is not in question. This is just to better equip and understand arguments made. Today's society is very much filled with skepticism. So much anymore one has to see in order to believe. Is there ways to demonstrate the reality of God's presence with scripture and pair it with some things that we see every day?
  18. What of this one? Luke 11:1-4(NIV) One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2 He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. 3 Give us each day our daily bread. 4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.”
  19. People who have lots of money can easily get conceited. Thinking that people who do not have similar riches or are working toward such riches are less worthy or of less value, perhaps even just lazy. They also have a tendency to fix their hope on their riches and NOT on God. Fez, That is truly awesome. The church my husband and I attend have some good hearted people too. Our preacher is one of those. He always asks after us, offers us time...prayer...council... we are never made to feel like less than him or others therein because of how little we give. The church means so much to me. As does the one one one time I get in God's word. Brothers and sisters in faith should be much like a family should be. So happy for you Fez, that in a church family is a real blessing in this day and age. Just Another Sinner Seeking The Way Dani
  20. Sorry posted same thing twice...not sure how that happened.
  21. So tell me something. What is the difference between a Christian living by faith in a Living God and some wicked unbeliever (which they all are) living entirely for themselves, hating God, and doing nothing for the Kingdome of God doing what you are talking about? In a word...NOTHING! Let me rephrase what you said from an unbelievers perspective. Where is living by faith in that at ALL?? It isn't even there. Christians are so prone to spiritualizing what is nothing more than common sense from a natural perspective and making it God's way for us. God's way IS different. It does involve being wise about the use of our money for the Kingdom of God. Definitely. But the whole notion of investing, making money and storing it in barns...oops...I mean in certificates of deposit, Treasury bonds, and inside retirement accounts is completely foreign to the way in which Jesus and the New Testament disciples operated! At least as I read the Word. More on this in another post shortly. Carlos Curious about this myself...what of Christian families who do not make enough to have that spare money to put into an account for their children and just make barely enough to cover their basic needs? Does this make them less faithful? It is really disappointing when one's income is a measure of one's faith.
  22. The thought has been very much present on my mind as of late. More concerned for my small children. They do not know or really understand the concept of Jesus. Which means, that something needs to be done. While they are very small the earlier and more deeply rooted the seeds of faith are planted, the better especially in a world today that is growing in skepticism.
