  1. I'm aware it's a key part of the US constitution but what are everyone's views on inalienable freedom of speech no matter what the context? http://www.domoreactnow.com/justice/it-right-ban-racism-euro-2012 This topic was provoked by this article I read today about freedom of speech in Europe and the Muslim World today.
  2. The history of the world is that the military power most willing to aggressively use brutal force wins at war. Surely a Spaniard knows this? Brute force and violence are all that the warlords of the middle east understand. If Israel doesn't show their enemies that they will humiliate a military attack, that will be their solution as witnessed in several unprovoked wars now. 1. When they were not in the Golan Heights, Syria rained down missiles on the civilian population of Tiberias non-stop. Do you think that they Syrians, who have killed about 30,000 of their own people in just the last few months, can be trusted to be peaceful neighbors? 2. The only time Israel has bombed Beirut, it was in response to being attacked on the Lebanese border. Should they send flowers instead? 3. Israel does not raid aid convoys to Gaza!? Israel, like all other nations, has sovereign borders that are being tested by their enemies if you're referring to the various flotillas. There are legal channels for delivering "aid" to Gaza that anyone can follow, but allowing unhindered access without customs controls (which every other nation also has) would be inviting arms shipments from Iran, or other neighboring countries. So basically your proposal is that Israel should not be able to defend itself? Do you really think that will bring peace? My proposal is that aggression breeds resentment and that continued aggression and lack of concessions breeds a lot of resentment (on both sides). Syria is hardly a threat to anyone at the moment and I think they have enough respect for Israel's military capabilities to not attempt to invade even if they were a stable country. There may be various AID packages allowed into Gaza but this is clearly not enough to stem a humanitarian crisis there. And "oh look a border skirmish, lets bomb your capital city and kill loads of civilians" isn't exactly a proportionate response and doesn't stop tensions being raised. No-one is going to win this war, and everyone is going to lose if it is constantly escalated. I'm English btw, but yeah, point still stands haha - however we were "fortunate" enough to be conquering the world when access to bombs and Ak47's wasn't readily available.
  3. 100% false premise. Can you demonstrate that the C.I.A. is Christian and that whatever they do is guided and taught by Christian values? I was under the general impression that the C.I.A. was a secular organization and not a Christian one. Am I somehow incorrect? As for the "Christian America" statement, not so much, unless you can demonstrate that America is 100% populated by Christians. Only about 25% of America are actual practicing, Bible-believing Christians, so there goes that assertion. Hitler was implementing his own agenda and personal wishes in his pogroms. The fact that he used Catholic dogma to support them really does not mean much since neither his acts, or Catholic acts of the same nature can be found inside the pages of the Bible. Neither can support for slavery. Lying to ones enemies is found in the Quran. Fact, not lies. None of the things you mentioned, the Crusades, invasions, etc. have biblical support, and at the time, if people would have risen up, en masse and said so, challenged the leaders of the church and stated that avocation of violence in the name of Christ was not found in the Bible, history would have turned out much different. But that would have been difficult, since that was one of the reasons that the RCC did not want common citizens to even have access to a Bible, for fear of the truth. And had people brave enough to speak biblical truth killed for fear of the same thing. Your "perspective" is no perspective at all. You say none of those acts have biblical support but that's merely your interpretation, which is the crux of the issue. Not all Muslims interpret the Koran in the same way as the loons who ban all literature, music and culture, who turn women into beasts and lie to their enemies. The fact is that there are plenty of Muslims who don't subscribe to that view just as there are many Christians who do use the bible to justify evil. Hitler claimed he was doing God's work, just as thousands of Muslims claim the same. As for there being no biblical instruction to commit genocide or keep slaves: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+15&version=NIV , http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus+25%3A44-46&version=NIV , those would beg to differ. So there's Hitler and the slave traders off the hook. So don't give me your pathetic "this is a fact that it says this in the Qu'ran" and completely ignore uncomfortable quotes from the Bible. Both books give people the opportunity to exploit them and do great evil, just as both have the power to do great good in the world. The Christian America statement, I forgot that everyone in a country had to be a Christian for it to be a Christian country, there was me thinking Egypt was a Muslim country. Facts are that every American President ends their speech with God Bless America, every President has been a Christian, the McCain campaign went to many lengths to try and prove that Obama was not a Christian and was in fact a Muslim in an attempt to smear his campaign. I'm aware of your secular constitution but it's hard to argue that America is not Christian in outlook. Bush was even prayeing to God for advice on weather to go to war or not. That said I do admit that the US do not act to advance a worldwide Christian agenda akin to the Spanish Conquistadores, so yeah, I agree with you it was a false premise.
  4. Interesting, I shall explore the website, though producing it has hardly alliviated my concerns of the zionist-tinted specs being on.
  5. I presumed she was American, hence the non-filtered news comment. I am aware of the psychotic nature of both the PA and Hamas governments but I think people have been drawn to them in many cases by perceived injustices caused by Israel. An extremist government does not get elected in a state that's doing well. My point however did not concern Hamas or the PA as I don't think saying "oh but they're doing worse stuff than us" will get anyone anywhere, placing blame is pointless. Each side can surely look and think, 'how can we improve this situation' rather than spouting hate. Obviously it's a situation I have not experienced and I can imagine the rage that must flow through a country when hearing of fresh attacks on its citizens but my opinion is that counterracting violence with violence rarely works. Actions such as moving out of the Golan Heights, not bombing Beirut and not raiding aid convoys to the Gaza strip, though perhaps heightening the sense of tension on the Conservative right at the outset, would do a lot to alleiviate things in the long run.
  6. You are surely not serious?! Militant Training Camps: Bolivia, Cuba, Congo, Laos. Subverting Governments: Chile, Iran, Iraq, Guatemala, Nigaragua, Cuba, Congo, Vietnam. And that's just the C.I.A of Christian America in the last 50 years!!! (all of those events that lunatic of an interviewer seemed to forget) That's not to mention Hitler doing God's work taking over half of Europe, The British Empire expanding under the name of the Queen (the Head of the Church of England) taking over 1/4 of the world, the Crusades, the Spanish Conquest of the Americas in God's name, the Norman invasion of England. All people are equally bad when they believe they have devine justification for their acts of war. And whoever wrote that ridiculous post about Muslims lying to their enemies because it's permitted in the Koran, well, It was only 200 years ago that the Bible was still being used to condone slavery. A more recent example would be that "pastor" using the Bible to get people to smash their kids in with a rod. Let's have some perspective and respect for one another please, some people don't seem to understand when they themselves are being just as extremist as the people they propse to be combatting.
  7. How can you come to that conclusion when the bible says the antichrist sits on the oil. Currently wars are happening and economies shaken by who controls the oil. Daniel 7:7-8 speaks of a beast with iron teeth, not green teeth. The book of Joel 2:3 describes the land as ruined by a certain people, and these people are a destructive force upon the earth and nature itself. Please understand and hear truth. Solyndra failed not because solar panels are a bad idea. It failed because poly silicon became 80% cheaper due to Chinese investment. I think it's really counter-productive to bring abstract Bible quotes into a discussion such as this. The anti-Christ sits on the oil?! The anti-Christ sits on the driving force that has allowed the humanity to advance so far in the last 100 years?! Maybe think about that while you're driving to work. It's clear we need to look for other sources of energy, need to limit our own energy expenditure when possible, protect the environments we have and invest in new alternatives energies / more efficient methods of using what we already have for the future. At the same time we need to have a more open discussion as to the veracity of the Greenhouse Effect.
  8. Haha I'm afraid I did not, in my haste to defend free speech I admit I did not read with due diligence.
  9. I agree with you in that I think the majority of Israelis want peace but, at least for us who get non-Zionist filtered news, your government seems to be running a PR disaster if it is really trying to show the world that it "strives for a better future ... through the treatment of its Arab Citizens" and those other Arabs and Christians unfortunate to live in neighbouring countries.
  10. There is more to this story and what led to the charges. There are other cases of Child abuse among congregation members. Members were instructed to hit babies 1 1/2 years or older. There is a reason this went to trail. A Pastor that has influence over peoples lives and their children should be held accountable for what he teaches. If he was teaching correctly, God would have protected him. Be blessed. It is still an attack on free speech. Next it will be thoughts that are criminalized. LT Only God can criminalize your thoughts. As has been suggested, I'm unconvinced that this is the entire story; if it is however then it's an horrendous violation of free speech. However repugnant someone's views are they should still be allowed to air them. It's not only their right to speech that is being infringed upon, but our right to hear it.
  11. I would imagine that worshipping Jesus, him being part of the trinity an' all, is exactly the same as worshipping God. "We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds (æons), Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father." First lines of the Nicean Creed which is the essence of Christianity. "Of one substance" being the key part. Worship away.
  12. The Mullahs made a huge mistake when trying to plan Iran's future. After the war with Saddam's Iraq between 80-88 Iran lost more than 500,000 young men. Pretty much a lost generation, the Mullahs therefore gave huge benefit packages to those who had a lot of kids in order to try and keep the population young and vibrant. It's worked just a bit to well Those kids are now around 20-24 and none of them are too happy about being brought up in such a restrictive society. It's a matter of time before we see an Iranian Revolution and the more events like this that take place, the more the government continues to repress a population where 50% of people are under 25 the more you really are asking for trouble. This regime in Iran will fall within the next 10 years without outside support. Whether the Mullahs get their hands on nuclear weapons in that time remains to be seen.
