  1. No she isn't I think the argument could be made that she definitely could have some communist tendencies Maybe.
  2. Amen Nebula! The Lord will deliver at the absolute perfect time. Kenny, put your trust in Him fully, get to know Him, so when you do meet your wife, your marriage will be based on a relationship with Jesus first. Mar 10:27 But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible." Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
  3. When I could correctly spell and sign my last name.
  4. Can you provide scripture that says born again believers can lose their salvation? From what I have studied (I could be wrong), there are unsaved sinners and saved sinners. Saved sinners are followers of Christ, are indwelt with the Helper, the Holy Spirit, who convicts and molds us to righteousness, to the likeness of Jesus. Saved sinners cannot lose their salvation. People either are saved, or they are not. Heb 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified We will stumble and fall, because we are still on earth, still living in our fleshly bodies. We will continue to "be sanctified" until we leave this earth. The transformation that is taking place is a life-long transformation. 1Jn 3:6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 1Jn 3:9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. Again, there are either saved sinners, or unsaved sinners. The Holy Spirit is stronger than we are. Joh 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. Joh 10:28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. Joh 10:29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. No one can snatch us away, not even ourselves. 1Co 5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father's wife! 1Co 5:2 And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 1Co 5:3 For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. 1Co 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 1Co 5:5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. This man, who "has his father's wife," is a saved sinner. If not, why would Paul tell the church to deliver him to satan, so his spirit may be saved? Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, Heb 6:5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, Heb 6:6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. Heb 6:7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; Heb 6:8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned. Heb 6:9 But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner. This sounds to me like the Parable of the Sower. See below: Luk 8:5 "A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. Luk 8:6 Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. Luk 8:7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. Luk 8:8 But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold." When He had said these things He cried, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" Luk 8:9 Then His disciples asked Him, saying, "What does this parable mean?" Luk 8:10 And He said, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that 'SEEING THEY MAY NOT SEE, AND HEARING THEY MAY NOT UNDERSTAND.' Luk 8:11 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Luk 8:12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. (Not saved) Luk 8:13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. (Not saved) Luk 8:14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. (Not saved) Luk 8:15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. (Saved through Christ Jesus) The people in Hebrews that the author was describing in verses 4-6 were not saved. They were enlightened by the Word, had tasted the gifts of God, but they did not have any fruit, did not take up their cross, etc. We know this because in verse 9 the author tells the audience that they are confident of better things for the listeners, things that accompany salvation. In the parable of the sower there is only one scenario where the seed took root and produced fruit... just like a good tree cannot produce bad fruit. There are either saved sinners, or unsaved sinners. Mat 7:16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Mat 7:17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Mat 7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Mat 7:20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
  5. I don't think so, since Facebook never explained to him why they were blocking it, never returned their calls about why it was blocked, and then removed the block without explanation. Cameron also said his web technician and Sony Provident films tried to post the website for the film, but were also blocked by Facebook.
  6. I'll be praying for you and your family. I agree with Mcgyver, you and your husband need to be on the same page, especially if it is his son creating strife between you two. Something similar is happening with my family between my brother (who is 25) and my parents. He needs serious medical help and support, and he is not getting it from them, even though he lives under their roof. I understand your anger very well, and while it is a very natural reaction, it isn't a helpful one (for him or you). Be in constant prayer about this situation. Consult with your husband to discuss a solution you can agree on, one that will not make him feel bad, and that will not make you angry. You can support him without enabling him, even if that means he won't be happy with you guys for a while.
  7. Amen! I can do nothing without Him who gives me strength, love, and purpose. My entire self belongs to God, and I pray for daily transformation from the Spirit. 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2
  8. Hello! Hope you have some time for this lol...Sorry it is so long. I was a member of a church for a year. It was my first church family. I thought I was "saved' as a teenager, and they quickly (but nicely) led me to think that I was not saved until I became baptized. I did not have any clue about what kind of church it was... I only started going because the manager at my job was really cool, I enjoyed his family, and I was at a very dark place in my life. The preacher had a very unique way of delivering the message, and I decided I would go every week with them. I began meeting with the preacher on a weekly basis to have bible studies. He had all kinds of studies... "The Word of God", "The Sin Study," Making Jesus Lord," "Timeline Study"... each one dedicated to finding out exactly where you are on your walk. He would switch around the studies based on where he thought each individual was. And along the way, you would have to have certain "convictions." Like, after the Sin Study, you would feel the need (over time... and each person's time line is different) to call someone in the church and confess all your deep dark secrets. They believe that the bible says the Lord's Supper must be taken every week, and if you weren't in fellowship/ taking the Lord's Supper on a weekly basis, you were in danger of falling away (actually losing your salvation for good.). What happened with me is I did the studies. I did not feel "convicted" to do anything besides not sin, which I did out of fear. I always felt like I never asked the questions the preacher wanted me to ask during our studies. I began to wonder (4 months in) if I should be baptized, because I was supposed to feel convicted. There was one Sunday when he preached on forgiveness. The only sermon that I can remember that actually focused hard core on Jesus. I remember completely breaking down and releasing walls, thanking God for what He has done for me. I got baptized after attending the church for 5 months. Only after did they consider me a sister in Christ. After I was "finally" a Christian, I was very bold in speaking to people about God and Jesus... but it was a haughty kind of bold, like I knew a secret that other people didn't, and they needed to get right. Went on like that for another 6 months... Then I met my husband. He challenged me to study the Word in its entirety, and not just what I had been taught. I knew I would marry him almost instantly after meeting him, but I could not reconcile the fact that he had not been baptized!! LOL Thankfully he stuck with me while I really got to know who my Lord is. The best moment of this walk for me has been the realization that I am saved by GRACE, because Jesus Christ died, shed His blood, and rose from the grave, so I could have a true relationship with my Creator. I am in awe of Him more each day because of this. So I guess I "recovered" by studying scripture with an open heart, praying for understanding, and reading in context, instead of picking out verses individually. What I realize now that I didn't realize then is that the Holy Spirit convicts people to see the Truth, that is Jesus. Anyone that tries to map out a person's salvation in the way that was done to me, is not following the guide of the Holy Spirit. Legalism to me is just another burden that separates us from having true freedom and peace in our Messiah. Since leaving that church, my good friends no longer speak to me. They were very sad that I no longer agreed with them, but told me, "At least you are covered, since you got baptized." My husband got baptized 7 days AFTER our wedding. Because of that, they did not come to either event. Now I just pray for them, and hope that one day the Spirit will show them that they do not have to earn their salvation, from God or man.
  9. ~ Well Dear One I Have Not Doubt That Speaking For Yourself You See Your Point And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart. Jeremiah 18:12 Nevertheless God's Word Speaking For Him Says Otherwise Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11 And He Clearly States His Intentions For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 ~ Believe For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 And Be Blessed Beloved The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27 Love, Joe Joe, apparently I have reached my "quota" for positive votes in a day (guess I should slow it down!). But everything I see from you blesses me, and this especially has blessed me.
  10. I can definitely relate. God has perfect timing, even if we can't understand why things seem to get worse. We can't see the big picture like He can! No matter how much we witness and try to change someone's heart, it's ultimately not our job. The reason we shouldn't stop, though, is because we don't ever know how the Holy Spirit is using us in someone else's life, even if it takes 20 years before they come around. Omegaman gave me some really good advice on another thread: "Pray, and pray some more, and pray again, and if they have not accepted Jesus, then assume that you have not prayed enough yet." God is good, all the time, and He knows each situation. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it John 14:13-14
  11. Thank you for the responses. Please pray for my family
  12. Thank you for your response. I actually did not post my argument to this person on this forum; he is the one claiming the impossibility about God being a man, not me. I believe he has some Old Testament knowledge, but (like most of my family) he thinks that while it seems to be based on historical facts, things get skewed over time, etc etc... This is the first real discussion we have ever had together about Jesus (yay!) and I want to present arguments from an Old Testament perspective, since he has more knowledge of that (albeit very little) than the New Testament.
  13. Well, he posted this stuff above, and then says we should "come to our own individual conclusions based on our experiences." So I'm going to guess no, he does not worship Him. Although he says that God is omniscient and omnipresent, I don't think he knows what he believes about God.
  14. A family member posted this statement: "You don't need religion to have morals. If you can't determine right from wrong, then you lack empathy, not religion." After getting the conversation turned towards our Creator, he had this to say to me (coming from a pseudo "reform" Jewish background that knows very little about Jewish history or the Old Testament): "Do not worship any other god than the one true God. All other gods are false gods. [this is B.C. and means that we must not try and portray God as human] Do not make idols or images in the form of God. An idol can be anything (or anyone) you worship by giving it more importance than God. If something (or someone) has your time, attention and affections, it has your worship. It could be an idol in your life. no offence, but that sounds a lot like worshiping Jesus to me... I sure wouldn't believe any human being in modern times who claimed that they were actually God, because "I" understand that that is beside the point; God is omniscient and omnipresent...I mean, so before Christ there was no God??? Honestly I am asking?!" What are some ways you would defend the Gospel from an Old Testament viewpoint? How would you respond to these comments if this was a friend or family member? I have already given an initial response, but it would be great to get some new ideas
  15. The Trinity is made up of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Three are One. Seems like He did to me... 8 Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." 9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. John 14:8-11 7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 1 John 5:7 54 Jesus answered, "If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is your God. 55 Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say, 'I do not know Him,' I shall be a liar like you; but I do know Him and keep His word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." 57 Then the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." John 8:54-58 13 Then Moses said to God, "Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?" 14 And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' " Exodus 3:13-14
  16. 20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 1 John 4:20
  17. 1. 9And He said, "Go, and tell this people: 'Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.' 10"Make the heart of this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And return and be healed. Isaiah 6:9-10 Think about this... the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for years and years, while seeing God work miracles the entire time; and yet, they still grumbled, complained, and sinned all over the place. We also see in the gospels too that Jesus came to earth and preached the Word, performed miracles, etc, and yet people still did not believe. If people make the decision to close their heart from God and ignore the Spirit, someone "rising from the dead" isn't going to open their ears/eyes. Only the Holy Spirit will do that. 2/3. Again, Jesus rose from the dead, and people still did not believe. He also said: 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" John 5:46-47 4. Yes and no. The Holy Spirit can change a person's heart, and He may use people to help with this. But people cannot be transformed on their own, or led to belief without guidance from the Spirit. Final question: Pray that God opens their ears/eyes/heart. God hardened Pharaoh's heart (Exodus 7:3) multiple times before the Israelites were allowed to leave Egypt. God's timing is always perfect, even if we do not always understand why. Lukewarm Christians: I think man's post says it all. If one has not accepted Christ as Lord, and is not heeding the Spirit, is not being transformed...are they saved? It's not our decision to make. All we can do is point to Christ.
  18. Saw this earlier and thought it was really cute! Gotta teach my dog to do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjolJ2d9z-g
  19. I think Romans 14 says it all: 1 Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. 2 For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. 3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. 4 Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand. 5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written: "AS I LIVE, SAYS THE LORD, EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW TO ME, AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL CONFESS TO GOD." 12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother's way. Romans 14:1-13 We are all trying to be Christ-like. If this is how they do it, good for them! It's not biblical, true; and the kids will have to decide for themselves later in life if that is how they want to date, and how they want to raise their children, etc. Hopefully, they will know what sin is, and isn't. "For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's."
  20. We can only pick three? lol I want to see my family know, believe, and follow Christ as their Savior. I'd like to become a mother, if that is God's will for me. Visit Israel.
  21. Love this answer! I don't have kids yet, but I do not want to lie to them about things that aren't real. The true stories are so much better!! I've heard of people making a birthday cake for Jesus also, and that sounds like a cool tradition to start.
  22. My old self has much to regret, and much to mourn. But now I am a new creation being made holy. What's to regret? 2Co 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Heb 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
