  1. I chose to delete this. Sorry.
  2. After reading Kings, I was thinking we need a true Godly president. Since the kings in the OT that were God fearing seemed to keep the country together. Just like even when God said if there was one God fearing person in the days of Jeremiah to stand in the gap, God would not bring destruction. True, there are plenty in America, but how much more now of one leading the country!
  3. Now that sounds like something to think about.
  4. Verse 5 says clearly that (I'm not arguing that you need to wear one) every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying disgraces her head, for she is one and the same as the woman who's head is shaved. Now that sounds pretty straight forward. ( now I am not being argumentative, just stating what I see, as in a discussion. No need to get our shorts in a knot). I see no hidden meaning here. BUT in verse 6, For if a woman does not cover her head, let her have her hair cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or head shaved, let her cover her head.' Now here is proving a point, not saying literally she should do that. That must mean her hair is still long, and it is a shame because she is not wearing a head covering! Vs. 15 then says her long hair is given to her for a covering. See the contradiction? Well I sure am.
  5. Praying for your wellness, turtletwo. Thanks for the beautiful poem.
  6. It is still contradictory because her hair in the beginning is long, and he is saying she should have her hair cut off if she doesnt wear a covering. But at the end long hair is given as a covering.

    Salt

This is then the way I would describe it. Salt is something good, tasty in a spiritual sense to people. Which is all the good things of the Lord. Including the fruits of the spirit. Love joy peace patience kidneys goodness faithfulness and self control. Things standing out and so much better than the fleshly and unpleasant things of the flesh, which non believers exhibit, or even fleshly christians, and they and we like these qualities in people. They are oh so much more pleasant to be around. So by standing out in this way, it is a glory to Christ and something that can draw others to Him. Just as salt tastes good, so salted people taste spiritually good.
  8. Why does this passage seem contradictory? In the beginning it says women should shave their heads if they don't wear one. Then at the bottom it says long hair is given as a covering. What am I missing here?

    Salt

I'm looking for definitions of salt used in the bible. Thanks. I know you people are sick of me. But if I get plenty of responses, then I'll know it's ok. Quite frankly, I'm not much phased by that thought. I guess age and getting a little maturity make me feel that way. :/ Now, the bigger question. Should I post this?
  10. SINNERSAVED----You always come up with interesting questions.

    Say what?

Come on. You guys can do better than that but leave some of us throwing our hands up in the air and trying to read between the lines.

    Say what?

1 Chronicles 26:24 Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was officer over the treasures. Since this was in Solomon's day, I assume there was another Moses who had a son named Gershom. :/
  13. Decided to delete this even tho I believe everything I said. Just kind of not feeling comfortable saying it.
  14. I was not referring to tongues in the church, but in private. Yes, everything you just said is what Paul talked about. That is fine to be suspect of tongues otherwise, too. Because it does say we need to test the spirits to see whether they are from God. Kind of hard to do tho just hearing what sounds like someone 'jibbering.' You really have to get to know the person enough to find out. Because their authentic walk with God speaks volumes. And you know whether they are trying to seek the 'gifts' so it maybe suspect.
  15. Just something I came across reading John 3:5. 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.' That was when He was telling Nicodemus he had to born again to see the kingdom of God.

    Matthew 23:8

I wonder how many questions are too much within a certain time in here. Why do churches not heed this? 'But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. 'Do call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. Do not be called leaders; for one is your Leader, that is Christ. But the greatest among you shall be your servant.' Why are Paul's writings contradictory to this? So then, does it matter which you choose to go by? I would think it would be better to heed this, since Jesus said it, according to the gospel of Matthew. Seems like Worthy does this by calling the mods servants.
  17. It is based on the Word. Paul said he spoke in tongues outside the church. I don't understand why people get so upset about this subject. It is not US you are getting upset at, but refusing to be open to God.
  18. Well, I found it interesting when the woman sitting next to me once prayed on tongues, the EXACT phrase that often came out of my mouth. Hhhmmmmm, very incredible odds if it were a human emotion. WE KNOW.
  19. I cannot get rid of the above entirely on my phone, ever, once I quote. The definition of meek is more clearer now. It is always used as a synonym with humble, but they are not the same, just related. And some people describe poor in spirit as humble, AND meek, so that is where some confusion was. I am wondering now about blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. I gather been comforted by God is a big blessing. Better than living as the world does, and never getting a comfort from God. Sounds kind of like cheap explanation, but I don't really know what it is supposed to be. What is the Greek word used here for gentle or meek? Actually, where is a good place for me to go to find it?

    Matthew 5:25

'Make friends quickly with your opponent at law while you are with him on the way, so that your opponent may not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. "Truly I say to you, you will not come out of there until you have paid up the last cent.' Does this apply in anyway to our modern day lives, unless of course you are guilty? But why would Jesus be giving this advice in the first place to those who would be listening to him who want to practice righteousness? It sounds like in these verses that one is automatically guilty without a fair trial, back then. So does this apply in anyway to today? At least in a country with fair laws. Perhaps in some other places where law enforcement take bribes left and right. I know there are some. I think in the African continent of (N......my mind is at a blank. It is where all those fake emails and phone calls come from where they want to scam you).
  21. What matters is following God. He knows what His will is for our lives and wants us to be open to them, no matter what they are. I tried to get tongues, after changing my mind, and decided I did want them, but God didn't even give them to me right away.
  22. Sometimes, I have to say, what you are trying to say is not easy to understand. Maybe if you simplified a bit, it would be more, ah, shall we say 'edifiying?' Lol. (Pun intended).
  23. Yes. I think you are referring to corporately, right? I think when Paul says if there is no interpretor, then let him speak to himself and God. I picture them prayi g in tongues quitely, under their breath. That is what I do. I do have the gift of tongues, usually when praying for someone is when it comes out.
  24. Sounds like a newbie subject, I know, but I honestly still do not find it easy to read. Maybe someone who has knowledge in Greek can shed some light here. The 'poor' in spirit are what? Blessed are those who mourn. Why? Blessed are the gentle ( mine says, tho others say meek ) what is it really? I get the rest of it.
