  1. I love America BECAUSE we're allowed to say negative things about it. It's the greatest freedom we have. IMO PN
  2. I think we agree Truth Seeker. Now that this war has officially begun, it's time for all of us to stand behind our President and especially our troops. I for one will be doing just that. Prime#
  3. Truth Seeker: I wasn't attempting to debate the situation. I agree something needs to be done about Saddam, and I'm mostly in favor of this pending war. I was simply stating why I believe all the protests are happening, and that I believe the protests are justified, for the reasons I stated before. As for as your analogies of "hostages at gunpoint", or "my family" being held captive.........If I am to play the role of the U.S. as you suggest, I don't think I would need to hire someone to help me save them, as I 'out gun' them.....what....ten thousand to one. I also don't believe this war is about the people of Iraq. If it is, I assume we're going in to Saudi Arabia next, or maybe China, Egypt, Cuba, or maybe North Korea. Just my humble opinion. Prime#
  4. Isn't our main missile defense system basically the threat of 'return fire'? If you bomb us, we'll bomb you, sort of thing? I thought that's why Reagan wanted 'Star Wars', because that 'threat of return fire' only works against other 'states' and not individuals or organizations. Maybe we're talking about two different things. Prime#
  5. Hello everyone. I think that a vast majority of the 'anti-war' protests and posturing is due to the administrations handling of the situation. The Bush administration has thumbed its nose at the rest of the world since day one. They've backed out of long standing international treaties. They've backed out of diplomatic efforts in the Middle East, and with North Korea. Over-subsidizing steelworkers and textile owners hasn't helped either. Does anyone remember the last time Dick Cheney visited a foreign country? During the Enron thing? The situation with Iraq is no different if not worse. We bully or bribe other countries to go along with us, and make no effort to hide the fact that we're doing it. In Bush's September speech to the UN security council called for enforcement of UN resolutions in Iraq, and to try inspections one last time. The problem with these statements is that Cheney and Rumsfeld had called inspections a sham no more that a few days prior. Then the administration diplomatically announces it will watch these inspections in good faith, then within days begins a military build-up on Iraq's border. This is why all the anti-war protests are going on(IMO). The world questions our intentions, and with good reason. We've gone away from a posture of consultation and cooperation under Bush Senior and Clinton, to an aggressive, 'go it alone', "with us or against us" posture. Prime#
  6. It depends on what you mean by false religion. If it's physically dangerous, she should immediately say something. If it's a mere difference of religion, I.E. JW, Catholic(some would say-not me), Muslim, Buddhist....whatever, I'd say it depends on the relationship. In this case, it's a former spouse so I guess it really depends on her feelings about him. If it was a bad split, and she wants to move on with her life, maybe not. If it's been resolved and they get along well, maybe. There's no clear answer because we are not her. She knows the circumstances, so if I were you, I would give her CWJ's advise. Prime#
  7. Sorry for the delayed response. No, there's no specific reason. It's just the way you put it, I thought there was some meaningful reason CNN didn't broadcast it. I understand now, thanks. Prime#
  8. What is the purpose for posting this link John? Prime#
  9. Hey Munari, I think I was the one who said it? I meant no offense, so please don't take that way. I frequent many forums and I see the term a lot. It's never been used the way you suggest, to label Catholics, but I can see how it could be perceived that way. In my experience it's used to group ALL Bible believers together. Catholic, Protestant, JW, etc. After all, they all have common threads. As opposed to Quran believers, etc. It's more of a generalization than anything else. Prime
  10. http://worthynews.com/apologetics/apol101part1.htm Think that's it. I can't say I agree with all of it, but it's still good stuff. Prime#
  11. George posted a link that may help you. I'll see if I can find it. As for me, I probably should stay out of this debate. I have two going right now, and that's all I really have time for. Prime#
  12. Yes I see the pattern. What does that have to do with the message John? Nothing. Thanks anyways. Prime#
  13. JERUSALEM (CNN) -- The Israel Defense Forces said Thursday it intends to investigate the death of a Palestinian teen-ager during Israel's military offensive in the West Bank. The announcement comes after B'Tselem, an Israeli human rights group, released a report blaming Israel for the death. The IDF chief military advocate reviewed the case and made the decision to investigate further. In a statement on its Web site, the IDF said it has undertaken about 20 investigations into the conduct of Israeli soldiers during the West Bank incursion. The allegations include acts of violence against Palestinian civilians, looting, theft of property and intentional damage to property and vehicles, the statement said. EXTRA INFORMATION Battle of Jenin In addition, five soldiers convicted by a military court of looting have been sentenced to up to five months in prison and have been demoted to private, the statement said. Israel launched Operation Defensive Shield in late March to root out what it called a "terrorist infrastructure" in the West Bank after a wave of Palestinian suicide bombings. The offensive lasted five weeks. Palestinians accused Israeli troops of looting and abusing the rights of citizens. They also alleged that Israeli forces massacred Palestinian civilians in the Jenin refugee camp. The Palestine Red Crescent Society later said the bodies of 53 Palestinians were recovered. Human Rights Watch said that about half of those were thought to be civilians, but that its investigation turned up no evidence of a massacre. Israel said 23 of its soldiers were killed during the Jenin operation. Rights group places blame for death 'squarely on Israel' The B'Tselem study, called Death in Custody, looks into the death of 17-year-old Murad Awaisa in Ramallah during Operation Defensive Shield. The group said that IDF soldiers detained Awaisa and some neighbors in an apartment on March 31, and the next morning, "his body was taken from the building with two bullets in it; one near his heart and one in the knee." B'Tselem said the investigation indicates that Awaisa had been moved from the room where he had been imprisoned with other men. "Some 20 minutes later, the other detainees hear intense gunfire emanating from outside and inside the building," the B'Tselem report said. "The soldiers later informed them Awaisa had died." B'Tselem gathered accounts that allege soldiers threatened and swore at the men and "beat them severely." Also, the men received no "water and food" for 12 hours until they were released. "The detainees did not see the shooting of Awaisa. Therefore, it is impossible to assert with certainty who shot him and what were the exact circumstances of his death," the report said. "However, the fact that he was killed while in IDF custody and under IDF supervision is sufficient grounds to place the responsibility for his death squarely on Israel. "The violence inflicted by IDF soldiers against Awaisa and other detainees during their detention, forcibly removing him from the room prior to his death and his hands being tied strengthen the IDF's obligation to conduct an investigation into the circumstances of his death." 14. True Jesus saves, but is Israel really a 'complete' nation? They are not totally in control of the occupied territories, and Israel's size doesn't even compare to the land size spoken of in the old testament. Perhaps Israel must gain all this land before becoming the 'last generation' Israel you're speaking of? Just a suggestion. Prime#
  15. I agree Lanakila. I don't think Israel is purposely killing innocent people. For the most part I understand they are forced in to military responses. But only to an extent. The Palestinians want a state of their own. They want out of 'refugee camps'. Israel, by building settlements, is sending a message that says this will not happen anytime soon. So I understand the anger the Palestinians have. That's all I want to say about this subject tonight. Prime#
  16. Hmm, do the numbers really matter? Since you(John) are known to be anti-everything-non-Christian(IYO), I don't think the numbers would make any difference to you. What is it that I follow you ask? Do we really have to go through this again? Anyways, I'll stick with what I said, as now you've proven my point. Most Christians seem to be incapable of questioning Israel's actions. They are either unable or unwilling. It doesn't really matter which, they both mean the same thing in the realm of debate. Prime#
  17. Dhulker, I find it very sad that people follow Isreal blindly, without the nerve to question her motives and tactics. There are many who do the same for the Palestinians. I haven't found many Christians who will question Isreali tactics, but there's an over abundance of those who will quickly judge ALL Palestinians by the actions of a few. Sad indeed... PRime#
  18. Teri, I've had it! Every time someone wants to express an opinion that doesn't agree with scripture(IYO), you try to force a scriptural response or you try to send them somewhere else. If you don't like what they have to say, quit responding! You have no right to tell anyone to go somewhere else. And maybe not everyone needs a scriptural reason for all of their opinions. Not everyone here is on the same path as you. You don't want to discuss the tough issues, fine. But many of us do, and we don't always agree, so their will be debate. There is nothing wrong with it. I'm sorry you can't seem to handle that, as this is not the first time you've done this, but you're going to have live with it, or maybe you could start your own forum. Whatever, it's not my problem. But I won't stand by the wayside while newcomers are sent away. You sign your posts "Love in Christ", it's time to practice what you preach. Prime#
  19. Teri, I wasn't being sarcastic. I 'threw' the Mithra comment out there to Jipsah because the followers of Mithra had their feasts and holidays stolen by the founders of Christianity. Just as Christian holidays are being stolen by pagans today(which was Jipsah's comment). If you want to know more about Mithra, do a search and you'll find plenty of info. There are many similarities between Mithraism and Christianity, that's why I thought it was relevant. Sorry, just trying to help. Prime#
  20. Teri, it does sound very solid, indeed. But I don't believe these are the last days. I've posted my reasons for that in another thread, I'll refer you there.
  21. Teri, I don't know what is going to happen. No one does. I could give you several scenarios that could fit in to todays political settings, but I don't see how that will help, except in wasting my time. I don't know anymore about the future than you or anyone else. Prime#
  22. I guess no one else is allowed to use this thread unless approved by Teri. Congratulations on your promotion to Administrator Teri, I hadn't heard. Prime#
  23. Dhulker, take it easy friend. Are you upset because Xan won't type God? Concentrate your efforts on more meaningful subjects. There is a time and place for the tactics you are using, be patient. Prime#
