  1. again you are You are giving dating techniques a lot of faith. But they are not entirely accurate. Again...assuming more facts than are in evidence
  2. There is Some evidence of the universe expanding, yes. red Shift, there is absolutely zero evidence as to what cased that expansion. You went from evidence to guessing. We suppose we know what each star is producing based on chromographic evidence, but we don't KNOW it
  3. Is it a well constructed tome of words to impress God, or is merely a cry for help from a desperate heart? I find in my own life that I am always recalling scriptures to get me back on track or out of anxiety And the top scripture is Philippians 4: 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these thing Remembering to give all things to God, TO THANK HIM that He will take care of it. And then get my mind off of it. And realistically this can be a "shampoo" prayer, where you wash rinse and repeat, until the peace sticks in your heart and your mind is on the happier things. So do you paint a Sistine Chapel of Prayer or simply call out to the Lord. Sometime in my life, the most effective pray I have said is one word....HELP!!! What is you fervent effective prayer that avails much? James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
  4. I don't think the devil asked permission.
  5. I tend to think that they are less secrets and more like things we just will never understand. God is so much bigger than our ability to comprehend Him....and those things we cannot understand are things we simply have to take on Faith. God said it in His word, I believe it, and that settles it
  6. Lust is selfish, greedy and uncaring Love is selfless, giving and caring But what separates a Saint from a Sinner, is not that saint does not fall down, but rather that a saint gets up. We Should seek to be perfect as God is perfect. But that is rarely the case. For the weaknesses we face, (mine is not lust but something else) we must rest on the grace of God 2 Corinthians 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
  7. Does not the heritage pass from the father to child? (and before you go there, Jesus' Father was the Father of Adam
  8. I believe you have said it all.
  9. Proof...not a difficult word at all. The ONLY thing fossils prove is that fossils exist. Everything else in again, mere conjecture
  10. Star dust? Science tells us? None of that has any evidence it is mere conjecture Who do you believe science or God? God very clearly said how He made us, so either God lied or God special made us
  11. Just a note. That generation had demonstrated it was not ready to take the huge leap of faith the take the promise land. Moses sent 12 spies into land to report back, All of them said that the land was indeed flowing with milk and honey, but 10 of them said "There are Giants in the land, and we cannot beat them". Two of them (Joshua and Caleb) also said their were giants in the land but God has promised it to us, and look what he has done so far!. The decision was made not to enter the land, and God waited 40 years to let this week generation die off before Joshua would lead them back to conquer
  12. We serve the Lord, and we do not do it to earn anything, for what greater reward is there than the Love of God which he has already given us Revelation 4:9-11 (NASB) “And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne
  13. Willfull love... I understand that
  14. Oh I really must disagree here, Jesus was sent to save the sinner from their sin....not let them wallow in it Luke 24:47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Matthew 18:6 Jesus Warns of Offenses “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Mark 8:38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” John 5:14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” John 8:11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
  15. Not quite same, one is a person and one is an action. Love the sinner hate the sin That is an extremely good point. So there is a level that we do not let the unbeliever in. I mean I will love and forgive the guy who killed my first wife 36 years ago....but do I have to invite him over for dinner?
  16. And what if you are not real fond of yourself? But what does love entail and what does like entail or is there no difference?
  17. Christianity has been around for 2000 years now, studied by millions perhaps billions and while we can personally glean new understanding of the Scriptures, I do not think anything revolutionary and new is suddenly going to pop up. And if it does....it will be right there in the scriptures
  18. Matthew 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 [o]But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust Okay God says we have to love them...but do we have to like them? I have dealt with a lot of people over the years and at first the worst ones among them (Trolling Atheists) I found very hard to love. They were rude crude immature and disruptive all things that don't sit well with me. But as a went on I realized that while some of these people were just plain immature ...whatevers, some of them were hurt and lashing out because something inside them told them they wanted God to be real, but something in their life made that very difficult. The ability to separate those two is not always easy, which is why I think God wants us to treat everyone with love, lest in our Christian zeal we steamroll someone who really needs help. A failing I still fall into today. But the question I am left with is this. What is the difference between loving your enemy and liking them. And are you required to do both?
  19. You be a witness, one of the greatest Christians I personally knew, never really said a word. But He lived a life that screamed Christ, and you could see the effect that it had on the most jaded people. Words, are just words, they can be argued, ignored, dismissed or denied, but such actions are undeniable. And the living beating, breathing and giving Christian heart sheds more light than the guy pounding the pulpit. Because most of us can identify with Joe Average. And yes as this world becomes more toxic to Christians we can find it easy to become more insular. Not wanting to express our love and faith just so as not to be exposed to the abuse that freely floats today. People who tell the truth that others hate are called haters, homophobes, misogynist, idiot and any other name in the book, just to get them to shut up. As you have said everyone in the western world knows about Jesus. And according to Romans 1* everyone everywhere knows about God. They have chose to reject him and strike back at all who would shine the light into their lives with words. But who can fight against the loving generous, kind actions of a Christian heart. That is a truth that convicts that cannot be argued away. *Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who [d]suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is [e]manifest [f]in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and [g]Godhead, so that they are without excuse.
  20. All we have is what God has told us, And he limited that for a reason. Those things he did not tells, we just have to satisfy ourselves in not knowing. We cannot make sense of everything, because He is God Mark 13:23, the verse you quoted is Jesus saying that he told us what expect regarding tribulation so that we would not be deceived God has given us everything we NEED to know, but we do not and will not know everything until we are with Him 2 Peter 1: 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 1 Corinthians 12: 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
  21. It could have been Adam and Eve's Kids, they lived 900 years There is a lot we do not know. Like how old Adam was When He had Cain and Able, or how long they lived before Cain slew Abel We do know there was a community in the Land of Nod where Cain went to live after the murder If the Maturation rate is the same as now and consider that the population grew exponentially with every generation the population could rise in a very short time 2 4, 16, 256, 65,236 in one hundred years there are a LOT of people people lived so long. Even if the population grew at half that rate that is still a lot of people. Only three of Adam and Eve's were named because they were part of the story
  22. Well we both agree I was wrong there. But don't get your hopes up, Just trying to put forth there is a lot of value in the OT, but not for salvation
